I don't think people realize just how talented he is... He has a serenity and naturalness to his playing that few have, Seong Jin has it... Yuliana Avdeeva for example is a different kind of talent, just as great as Seong Jin but you wouldn't describe her interpretation as serene. He is completely sincere in his playing, no pathetic expression, never too rough with the piano but every culmination is amazing, music just flows out of him... He has the delicacy that Chopin requires, warmth, nobleness...

yeah this sound is really pleasant and natural. it almost feels like the sound is coming only from a piano, without pianist ~ wonderful performance, he is so into the pieces he had chosen to play, such fine touch, fine agogics, timing, tempo, articulation and utmostly beautiful measurement before every move and it's sounding space. great :)
Those melodic lines in the left hand of op. 10 nº 10 are priceless, specially at 9:25! He actually makes two melodic lines in the left hand in diferent registers begining with a tenor or alto and ending the phrase with a bass or tenor. Bravo!
I am surprised! Lingfei, what is eating the jury>? I listened very carefully this overplayed piece of Chopin but what i have found is an astonishing performance. Who is this boy? this is what Chopin has meant for the ballad.it's just beautifully executed without any hard faced looking, I felt in love with this piece even more after this talent expressing it. Dont worry Stephan , you do have a very promising future beyond the Chopin Competition joke.

The softness of the wrist brings control of timing, and a small, beautiful sound with a hazy, non-separating resonance. I wonder if he got this from his teacher Boris Berman. He may not have a modern, trendy sound, but he is a authentic outstanding player.
I had the good fortune to study with Berman for a short time many years ago when he was a visiting professor at my university. He is a brilliant man, and was the first teacher to speak with me about getting a sound that goes beyond a basic musicality; about striving for a sound that is very specific to the composer and the composition. I will never forget it - the concept was groundbreaking for me.
He reminds me of Yundi Li Very artistic and elegant but much more delicate and refined. He is a young lad with huge potentials. I really wonder how he would advance in the future. Rooting for you!
It took me a lifetime to understand Chopin and this precocious young lad from Communist China played like he was raised on Polish soil. Nehring has a worthy competitor.

ずば抜けて音に中毒性があります。。音に酔えます。わざとらしくなく、ねちっこくなく、一音一音官能的で美しい。全体的にあまりメリハリがないのに退屈にならないのは私もはっきりわかりませんが、芸術性がずば抜けているんだと思います。 ナルシスト感がないのが特にショパンらしい。今後の彼の完成度をみるのが楽しみです。彼を知れて嬉しいです。本当最高です。
