What I enjoy most about your channel is the articulation of your reactions/reviews. You do not superficially gloss over the basics, but delve into the literary elements in a highly sophisticated manner. 👏🏼

This review really made me think about reading these sorts of emotionally charged and difficult books - at learning how to allow and even welcome this sort of anger, hurt, frustration, etc. It's something I have a really hard time with as it tends to trigger my mental illnesses, but I also know the value of feeling those things, and reading stories like this. It seems like it's books like this that spread the mycelia of humanity between everyone and form important connections between countries and cultures. 💚

Very well put! And I also appreciate the mental exhaustion that can come from triggering stories like this one. We’re all different of course, but I found this to be a far more strengthening and uplifting story than you’d think it would be :)

I forgot this was out when I used a Waterstones voucher recently and now I'm full of regret. I'll have to wait till later in the year or see if the library has it

Sounds great: showing the beauty despite tragic circumstances. I bet you’re excited to discover more of her books when they get translated!

I finished it yesterday. It truly is an incredible book. Thanks for mentioning it. I'm always eager to read books that humanize sex workers. :)
