I was there Went on my own with len munden coaches from bristol Made a massive banner supporting chris morton Thing i remember most was track was big but not great for passing on Happy days
Seem to remember first time I see Michael ride was at hackney in 1975 was end of the season. And kings Lynn made some changes from the start of the year. Michael was no 4 believe he scored 11 points was incredibly fast. Funny thing was Trevor hedge and Garry Middleton were reserves that night was quite strange suppose new blood etc. as they were heat leaders at the start of the season. Hedge came to hackney in 1976 and was doing ok but was at white city when he had the crash and think that finished him. Used chat to him and his mechanic at the end of the night. Total gentleman really nice guy
You didn't often get to see Penhall passed like that. He must have had a case of the nerves...... There was some diversity in engine choices then. The Godden did well, but the winner was on a Jawa DT500 DOHC, ahead of mostly Weslake 4 valve OHV motors.
That's how you win a World Championship! - what a rider he was and should have more more championships.
I was there. Great world final. How times flies by so quickly. Jessup was unlucky though.
Not for the first time World of Sport declining to show us the race off for silver. 😢. That apart, thank you for the upload Martyn.

Bruce Penhall was good but on his day Michael was that bit better on most tracks when he was on jawa he made them fly
Mildenhall Boston the mighty Kings Lynn stars when Michael was on it he was fantastic to watch anyway who's Bruce Penhall ?
Lol
Classy from John Davis to allow Lee to come through and win the title with 3 points.
