Mikael Vidstedt gives an overview of JDK Flight Recorder (JFR), showcases the current feature, as well as some features coming in the future.
JFR is a monitoring and troubleshooting framework built directly into the Java runtime. JFR has access to all the internal data of the JVM and can capture and surface data on a fine-grained level with extremely low overhead.

is it possible to pick up information about memory consumption from JFR dump ?
I created a dump for application that ran 7hrs and consumed 24Gb ram. I just want to understand which part of code have a memory leak or it's impossible?
also, is it possible to run Visual VM sampler both for CPU and memory ? I see that application pushing diagnostic messages within interval as of 20 seconds - and JFR log doesn't show what happened here.
I suspect that it's working with large object in memory - but as I know Visual VM allow to sample or CPU or memory, correct ?
So, I can only find the largest object in memory or the hotest java method - which is not enough for me.
