    17th Project in Fl Studio
    Made in about 2 hours
    - I was trying to experiment more in general with this project, messed around with layering and tried using a wider variety of drum sounds
    - Was struggling to make a satisfying drop at the ~0:52 mark, so it's really an anti-drop and pretty anti-climatic lol. I'm not super happy with it
    - Learned more about layering sounds I guess

    Just one thing I noticed (While I'm not an expert) you already made the start really nuanced and complex which in turn made the drop more difficult to pull off without crazy amounts of layering, effects, and tinkering with each sound. I really like to keep the intro simple, just a simple bass or a lead melody, one fades into the other, and a kick. Then add some more layers and add a riser for the drop or go ham with the drums, perhaps even a chopped amen break sample. However this is already a great start, better than me just looking up loops when I started.

    • @z_z878
      @z_z878  15 днів тому

      I'll keep that in mind and try to keep the intros simpler in the future! Thanks for the tips!

    One good way to make a more impactful drop is slowly apply a low pass filter to the master as you approach the drop, then remove it at the drop

      Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try to do that in future projects!

    I think something you can try for your drums is put all sounds on one pattern (not like a single very long pattern, but as in not have each drum hit on a separate track), essentially they should all be part of the same element while they still sound very seperated and don't really 'interact' with each other right now, perhaps making the drums on one pattern helps with visualizing where you put them in relation to each element. Doing it in the channel rack is probably best for visualizing it. I don't know how you do your drums right now, but if you make each pattern separately try putting all elements in bar by bar and then tweak it a little.

    • @z_z878
      @z_z878  16 днів тому

      Thanks for the suggestion! I'll try making the drums in one pattern more in the future, I've done it before but in most of my projects I've made each pattern separately. And I think like you said, when I make the drums in one pattern they feel more cohesive, so I'll make sure to do that more going forward! Thanks again!!

    If you go into Project Settings (I think, I'm not near my laptop rn), there's a section where you can change the time signature; this sketch appears to be in 3/4 time, so that might make it easier to organize sounds on the grid. Also, up top of the playlist, where that green arrow is scrolling when you hit play, you can right click on that "Time" area the arrow scrolls across and add a time marker. Right-click that marker and make it the "Start" of the song, which you can then line up with the first note of the first full measure (the one of a one-two-three-four or, in this case, a one-two-three) to make all the bars and beats line up, again improving organization of sound. You can still set the green arrow before the start marker for playback, this just lines things up better.

    • @z_z878
      @z_z878  16 днів тому

      I just looked at the section to change the time signature and I'll try to remember that in the future! And for this project, having a different time signature wasn't something I did on purpose really (I didn't even know what time signature was until I looked it up just now lol). And also the time marker thing looks useful, I'll probably use it going forward! Thanks for the tips!!

      @@z_z878 It sounds like it was a happy accident, yeah. The number of beats in a measure, like before everything restarts at beat 1, that's what you're looking for

    that melodies are incredible!! but i will give ya another hint: do an specific genre, and focus on that genre until you think that is good enough, if it really is, go to other genre. with this tecnique you can be expert in your favorite genres!

    Sounds great! I think to make the beatdrop more climactic, you should experiement with dynamics and intensity shifts in some of the elements. I think that the most effective beatdrops are when it goes from the most chaotic to the most simplest or vice versa

    good job dude, this one has some nice vibes. 👍👍
    now for a huge chunk of text:
    (tldr: use panning and stereo seperation, add lower freqs and reduce the bit before the drop for a harder drop)
    you can use panning or mono and stereo to aid the drops abit.
    you could have the bit before it be mostly mono then when everything else comes in it becomes stero, or something along those lines.
    (cant really hear these if you dont use headphones or have proper speakers)
    in ur mixer, you go to wide view. there are the knobs next to and above the volume slider. the one at the side does stereo seperation and the one at the top is panning.
    the panning knob makes the audio come from the left and the right depending on where u turn it, and the stereo seperation, uh, seperates the stereo.
    js play arnd with it abit lol
    now, from a more musical standpoint:
    lower the crowdedness of the bit before the drop to make it hit abit harder.
    you can also try delaying the beat which the drop comes in, so theres a beat of silence.
    maybe try using risers. u can find some risers in the browser which comes with fl studio or go download some.
    at 0:52 personally i feel theres abit lacking in lower freqs, so maybe add some spicy bass or smth

      Thanks for all the tips!! I really appreciate it!! And I have messed around with panning a stereo separation a little bit in the past, but I'll try to experiment with them more going forward! And I'll try implementing your other tips such as making the part before the drop less crowded and using risers in future projects as well! And I need to remember to use bass more often lol. Thanks again for the tips!

    Make the drum loop in one pattern, assign each sound to a channel, and then you split the pattern by channel which separates each sound. Then you can tweak it from there.

    Again the melody is amazing, and the drums fells great to, but there is a lack of low freqs, there is some videos that explain how to make a music fell full, some are focus on instruments and freqs, others in mixing and mastering, if you want try whatching this one ua-cam.com/video/Hi72cCOPUQU/v-deo.htmlsi=rOlDNK1tO0VFbPA0 in this video there is a lot of sugestions, and more specific the 5 elements formula ( you dont need to use the formula, but actualy understand what instruments and freqs do in a music ).
    Keep going and always have fun.
