A little tip in pouring from bottles of E.Oils or F.Oils: Hold a toothpick across the opening and pour slowly -- the toothpick will direct the oils into your container and you won't have drips or spillage. It works!

Thank you so much for this video. I’ve never made soap. I have ordered lye but I do have glycerine so I want to try this first! 6:41 I watched a video another lady made (Danu’s garden I think is the lady) and she used an old milk carton if you don’t have the silicone moulds. And I love your natural gray hair. I’m letting mine grow in now. Tired of dying it. Trying to go natural. I appreciate this video. 😇

in the glycerine soap, they need lye to make it. You remelted a soap with lye solution and made new colored bar with it. Techniqualy its not making soap, but it fine. the important is that u have fun.

    • @KristiStoneSFFS
      @KristiStoneSFFS  3 роки тому +53

You are correct, Marc. You understand what I did, and I understand what I did, but for those who are new at soap making, their intention is simply to learn how to make soap without having to handle and mix lye. But thank you for clarifying that. :)

@@beverlyfrancis8433 What she did was take a basic soap that was already made (with lye) melted that soap down, added ingredients that change the color (some even provide skin loving and nourishing properties) and fragrance. she than remolded and unmolded the new creation. All without using lye in the process herself. Because it was already used when making the actual soap that she used to make the newly created soap. you see when the original soap was made that is when the lye was used. That soap went through the chemical process of Saponification which at the end changes the chemical make up of the lye leaving no lye in the final product , which she used to make her soap. Not everyone is comfortable with using lye to make soap. This way is more comfortable method for people to make their own soap.
      hope this helps.

@katka1406 Melt & Pour soap is already soap that can be melted and then add coloring & fragrance. You can't add other things like botanicals or oatmeal or other oils because it will ruin the soap. No soap can be made without lye. Bar soap uses sodium hydroxide and liquid soap uses potassium hydroxide. Commercial soaps are typically synthetic detergents.
In the soap making process, the lye combines with your oils and goes through a chemical reaction to turn solid. Then you have soap. If it's done correctly, there is no lye left in the soap and it's completely safe for the skin. 😊

NOTE: IT IS A GOOD IDEA TO HAVE YOUR ESSENTIAL OILS WEIGHED AND PREPARED FOR USE TO QUICKLY INCIRPORATE THEM INTO YOUR MELT AND POUR SOAPS.
ANOTHER GOOD IDEA IS TO HAVE YOUR WORKSPACE COVERED WITH A TARP TO PREVENT STAINING OF YOUR SURFACES, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE WORKING WITH A SURFACE SUCH AS GRANITE, ETC.

Do people really need video instructions to make melt and pour soap? Maybe you can have fun with colours, scents and moulds but it works out a lot more expensive than making your own hot/cold process soap. Using lye isn't difficult at all but you need to follow the safety tips... there's many videos about that

I don't mean to demean anyone, but this is not "making soap." The soap has already been made (with lye, by the way) and this project is just adding stuff to it. This is akin to buying a can of soup and claiming you made it because you added some extra spices. If folks want to make this for their own use, fine. But if this is to be sold as handmade soap, that is not being honest.

Cars are composed of parts sourced from various manufacturers, and the assembly process involves contributions from multiple companies. While some cars are manufactured abroad, they are often marketed as American cars when sold in the U.S. Similarly, Japanese car manufacturers may produce vehicles in different locations, yet they remain recognized as Japanese cars.
Regarding soap making, some individuals opt not to craft soap from scratch due to safety concerns associated with lye, especially concerning its potential danger to people and children. Instead, they choose the safer method of melt and pour soap production, which still yields the desired end product: soap.
Your comment seems unrelated and feels out of place in this context. The lady was very honest by noting the process of melt and pour right in the title of this video. It could not be more honest. Honestly!

Thanks, but this is not making soap; it's just melting pre purchased soap to your own shape. No thanks.

      Patricia..🤗
Yes!.. I think we All know the “lye” has already been incorporated in the M & P Soap Base (that’s the reason you purchase & work with it)!! Most people like me..Do Not feel Comfortable Working with the “lye” itself because it’s “Caustic &!Dangerous!”.. so.. it’s more Fun (for beginners) to start off getting the hang of it & having Fun with it .. BEFORE getting into the next stage of actually using it in their soap-making!! For myself.. I’d Love to have an actual Class (face to face).. regarding using lye in CP or whatever technique is used..& become comfortable with that & because you can actually see what is going on & you can ask Questions!! I Do hope you understand where us “New Beginners” are Coming from!!?? God Bless!

In the end, it's no longer there. Do some research before being so rude.

No, melt and pour soap does not contain lye. You cannot make soap without lye, but in the finished product, there is no lye. When you combine lye with fats/oils to make soap, a chemical reaction called saponification occurs, creating soap. So lye is USED to create the melt and pour soap, but in the finished product, there is no lye.
