The soft top ears is a known issue. There is a strap that is either missing, disconnected or broken. Mine need a new snap fastener fitted & now works perfectly. Loads of UA-cam videos out there showing this repair.
I have an pre facelift spyder. Lowered on Bc’s, 4.5:1 final drive C60 box with LSD and a 2zz swap with long tube headers and racing cat making little over 200hp. It makes the car unbelievably good!! Going to stroke and port the 2zz this winter.
I personally prefer the pre facelift cars. I think the headlights look better with the black inlay & they also work very well when updated bulbs fitted. I also think it looks better without the fog lights and I like the non colour coded trims. The face lift is better car if you do lots of motorway trips as the 6th gear makes it’s quieter at high speeds. Pre face lift also gets the cool Sony stereo that I love. The preface lift cars also had 15 inch tires and so apparently have a faster 0 to 60 due to lower diameter tires. With regards to oil burning, from what I have read it’s only the very late cars that the oil burning issues were sorted on as the pistons had 4 oil drain holes instead of 2.
@@Dutch_Fake_Ferrari I disagree actually, comparing with 2020 prices, you could've get a good facelift from 6k in Europe, now they're over 10k, and for a convertible 2000s Corolla, it is a bit too much. I always wanted to buy it but Money has been a problem and couldn't ☹️
De facelift heeft ook andere achterlichten, luchthappers en 16inch velgen achter terwijl er 15inch voor zit! Er past ook een handbagage koffer in de frunk (waar normaal een haakje aan zit om deze wel open te houden) en er zijn speciale op maat gemaakte tassen die in de kleppen achter de stoelen passen, ideaal voor de roadtrips🙌 Met hardtop zien ze er ook nog mooier uit en is er een stuk minder windgeluid te horen. Heel veel mensen vervangen de softtop voor een stoffen kap, maar hier is het windgeluid extreem luid in. Ook inderdaad het subframe checken voor je er een aanschaft, deze zijn best duur om te vervangen😅 Plus de opties voor swappen zijn idd zeker aanwezig! De TTE turbo (Toyota Team Europe) is amazing en niet meer te vergelijken met de 1zz ook. Ook voor tunen is er steeds meer mogelijk in stabiliteit (no snap of oversteer🥹) en overige modificaties, de hype heeft voor en nadelen🤭 Ik heb zelf de 2001 met een 6bak en rebuild waardoor de wegenbelasting wel goedkoper is dan de facelift😏😂 sinds de 6bak wel veel zuiniger ook

Spyder looks good with a kit and headlight conversion however the SW20 will always look better, especially on 18's lowered with Greddy skirts and Ariposta wing!
Prices in the UK are picking up for the 3rd gen too. I think much like the BMW Z3, they didn't get so much love early on but 15-20 years on, people are appreciatijg them
Yeah, I think the styling of the cars had to grow a bit on us, but right now with all the new cars that are almost computers people are starting to appreciate the driving characteristics.

As an MR2 Spyder that owned Miatas wayyy before “Miata is always the answer”, I completely understand how the 3rd gen MR2 is under appreciated.

Yeah smaller tires and less weight are probably the reason pre facelift can be faster. That’s a pretty fun fact, I didn’t even know about it!
The blue mr2 in the video has the pre facelift tire/rim setup.

@@SuleimanElkhoury97this aint no convertible corolla. But is still cheap way to drive a lotus ish convertible with good gas mileage and reliability.
