I think the joke was that silly names are called "kirakira" (sparkly) in japan, so they have "sparkly" names similar to their eyes lolol. Still a strange name😭😭, but in the US "Jade" or "Amethyst" as a name is popular. I'm probably wrong though...

i don't understand what Japanese people have against there parents like majority of the time in anime either they have bad parents or their parents don't exist.
Well, shitty families are all over the world tho; I'm in my 20s and I barely met anyone with no problems in the family at all
As for anime/manga, that's just a good and cheap way to development a character, i guess
Its also easier to have the teenage characters do whatever they want if the parents are not around.
It’s not even just a Japanese thing. It’s common with lots of stories.
It’s just that unless the parents are relevant to the plot, or meaning behind the story, usually they’re not included or at least only minority, because more time is spent with characters with more involvement.
It’s like, Spider-Man for the most part, doesn’t have aunt may appear in the story a lot. But the few times she does is impactful.
And bad parents is one of the most interesting conflicts in stories. Like Vader and Luke? Yep. That’s some interesting drama.
