Hey sir, we need to say thanks to you..... Because of you we surch immediately in the right place and we don't do things that was not necessary. And you have there a very beautiful knife and as a knife-maker i say thanks and greetings from Belgium, Oli
Thank you buddy sorry I missed this notification. Hope you doing well. I’m loving all the spoons I see on insta instagram.com/woods_magic?igshid=1lvhr1bfgbmxz 💪💪
Awsome video my friend. You have my sub. Keep up your good work. Please have a look to my channel. Let’s support each other. Greetings from Sweden. Thank you 🙏🏿
I was actually glad you didn't get instant success like all the other videos on fatwood I saw. I was wondering what I was doing wrong...I think I just need to make more attempts.
Lol I’m not sure how to take this comment 🤣 I wish it would blow up. I get what you saying it can be disheartening when we don’t get the views we expect but to be fair it’s down to the amount of content we create. I don’t create enough as I should. All the best buddy hope yours gets loads if success
Very well done video Alexandre. You have covered something here which I have not seen on other videos and is totally true. The dead branch method will only yield a couple of centimetres of fat wood and as you say, is not great quality. Always better in the roots. So many videos out there where I think people don’t really know what they are doing.
Joss thank you very much pal, there is always a fine line when putting out this info, sometimes it can come across as I’m trying to be better then others but this is not the case, I am passionate about keeping skills alive and try my best to show things from my experience. Everyone is different and has their own methods I’m always learning and sharing what I learn. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment, engagement is one of the things I most value👍👍
You will find fat wood in them but it’s not as good and hard to find, tree trunks is a better bet as the concentration of resin is more in the lower part of the tree. Thanks for watching, ATB Alex
Bee Outdoors you’ve only yourself to blame for this, ha ha. But do it! You can do some axe skills for me (not seen all your vids yet so apologies if you’ve already done one) and gross food for the boy 👍🏼
alan palmer yup you not far off! Brought up in Africa most my life, South Africa, Angola, Mozambique, Namibia but Portuguese by birth. Thanks for the comment bud👍
alan palmer 🤣, NANDOS!.. lol Nando’s is supposed to be a Portuguese type of cooking called ( Churrasco ) but is no ware close to the real thing. you just gave me a good idea!.. I posted a wild camp video on Saturday where we had a rack of lamb grilling away for 5 hours on the fire. I think a traditional Chicken peri peri Churrasco will be the next thing I make on my next camp out. Awesome 👍👍
Michael Gabriel thanks bud sorry for the late reply but been off grid. The grub tasted like nothing but ended a fear I had to overcome. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍👍
A couple of tips: 1) never saw towards your brace leg, if you slip, because all your weight is on it, you can't move it out of the way fast enough to avoid injury. 2) when "striking" move your knife spine down by the material you want to light holding it in place and then draw your fero rod upwards instead of the knife, less movement and more control of the spark. And you need less length on the fero, which means it will last longer, (2" at a time) : Things I have learned the hard way, LOL
Grimm Liberty awesome comment and always happy to learn, this is the exact thing I try to encourage on my channel, no matter how long one has been doing bushcraft for there is always things to learn and as we are creatures of bad habit sometimes we do the very things we should not do. Thanks buddy for the view and the comment, awesome 👍👍
@@BeeOutdoors THANK YOU for the content. I LOVE seeing people actually DOING things and explaining their thoughts. In your case it was great to see the knowledge and experience! In other cases they are completely wrong, but I like that their at least TRIED something and shared their experience.
That's really nice wood, 1 strike. You used a lot of energy getting it though. I saw another video and the guy literally spent 1:58seconds from first cut on tree to ready to strike the fire. It took 3 strikes but he used a lot less energy. Thank you for the video though, I didn't take the time to make one. I'm just making an observation thumbs up.
Totally agree with you, there are way easier and faster ways to get to fat wood but as this is a demonstration my energy was not a priority. Go out prepared and you will not need to use too much effort, a year later and I’m still using fat wood from this haul. Thanks for the comment 💪

mrswinklesniff the military folding shovel! Yes it’s awesome I love that thing. Thanks for watching and commenting buddy. 👍
Very good, I never knew that about the roots.......poor grub though, minger :)
Does it matter if hard or soft wood?
Michael Gabriel thanks bud sorry for the late reply but been off grid. The grub tasted like nothing but ended a fear I had to overcome. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍👍
Michael Gabriel fat wood comes from trees in the Pinaceae family like pine spruce etc. And most of the resin concentrate is in the core and roots.
