    This has been very well cut. Seto inland sea is beautiful.

    Great video. We're going to Japan next month (our fifth adventure there) and are looking for more off the beaten path - this looks like a perfect place.

      Excellent plan! I also highly recommend Shodoshima, which is criminally underrated.

      @@japanunravelled Thank you. We will add that to our draft planning list. We are looking forward to a stop in Naoshima, because we are big fans of Kusama Yayoi's art work. Last year we visited her birthplace city, Matsumoto, which honors her work in their M. City Museum of Art. Another smaller off the main track place not far from the more popular Nagano.

    • @japanunravelled
      @japanunravelled  3 місяці тому

      There's quite a lot of her work dotted around the country, so you could quite easily do a Kusama themed tour! I hope you have a lot of fun!

    AAAnd perfect timing you did it again with a video I really needed haha ! Have booked two nights in Kuarashiki late Nov and was deliberating whether to visit Naoshima or not, I was concerned about the time spent travelling on local transport, but I think its definately doable in a day from Kurashiki via Okoyama....thanks again !

    • @lotusdevi
      @lotusdevi 3 місяці тому

      Actually it might be better to hire a car from Kurashiki now I've jumped on google maps and see it takes 3 hours from Okoyama compared to 1.5 by car lol

      The beach where the yellow pumpkin is supposedly open for swimming from mid-July to late August. Not tried it myself though!

    Was looking forward to this! I've put Naoshima in my itinerary because of this channel (also spending the night there). What about visiting in November? How much of a deal breaker is the chance of rainy weather?

    • @japanunravelled
      @japanunravelled  3 місяці тому

      Good to hear! November has a low chance of rain according to weatherspark (and personal experience). That said, if you're unlucky, much of the art is indoors, so I wouldn't worry too much. Autumns are very sunny in the Seto area, which makes November a great time to visit.

    This is exactly the journey I have done! Question, I remeber that you recommended a travel insurance in your previous videos but can't find it. Which insurance was it?

    Thank you for this video! What do you think about visiting this island with 2 kids (toddler and a baby)? I think we can’t cycle than.

    Quick question, and thanks so much in advance; does the JR Kansai - Hiroshima pass include seat reservations on the shinkansen or nah? If yes, should one book their seats at a machine or a ticket office, as a first timer? Much love

    • @japanunravelled
      @japanunravelled  3 місяці тому

      Yes, unlimited reservations for the shinkansen are included. The first 6 you can do at the ticket machine, after which you need to visit the ticket office. As it happens my video about this exact pass comes out in 3 days. Spoiler: I don't think reservations on the shinkansen are that necesssary, except for a few situations. When are you travelling by the way? Are you going to base yourself somewhere or move from place to place?

      @@japanunravelled Thanks so much! I'm coming in the first 2 weeks of November, starting from Tokyo and going to Kyoto-day trip to Amanohashidate-Himeji-Naoshima-Hiroshima-Osaka and then back to Tokyo!
      Trying to avoid the touristy places and get as good of a glimpse as I can get of the actual everyday life in Japan :)

    • @japanunravelled
      @japanunravelled  3 місяці тому

      Ambitious for your first time, and looks like a great itinerary! The pass video has some good tips for you. Didn't flag it much in the video but Naoshima art museums and exhibits are expanding their online reservation services which could really help you. Only downside is the prices are rising but still well worth the visit. Enjoy!

    • @WhyShouldnt_I
      @WhyShouldnt_I 3 місяці тому +1

      @@japanunravelled True, it's quite ambitious, hope it's doable too! Thanks so much for the tips btw. I think that many people are a bit concerned about earthquakes and natural disasters at the moment. Would you maybe consider doing a video on rudimentary tips on how to act in such an event? And how to prepare?

    • @japanunravelled
      @japanunravelled  3 місяці тому +1

      Yeah, that's understandable. Really though, a big earthquake could come at any time, so it's probably overall a good thing that more people are thinking about this. I like to do evergreen videos so yes, I'll have a think about this one.
