I like to imagine that there is at least one planet fitness that has a scale next to the entrance and you can’t come in if you weigh under 250 lbs
Proceeds to weigh over 250 pounds in pure muscle
If you're 251 one step will set off the lunk alarm 😭
@@bettercallseoul1504 who the fuck is you, like if you think this mf ain’t shit

You can grab a pizza if you weight less than 250*
@Flowzwtf no, he means under, because they only like fat people and not fit people, thats the whole joke, how dumb are you
Every time i go to the gym and see someone in sandals i freak the fuck out. so intimidating
Saw one this week actually.
Every time I go to the gym and see someone staying hydrated by carrying a gallon jug of water im so intimidating i run into the bathroom cry, cum and shit
It's fucking scary man, these people with sandals, watch yourself out there homie it's a dangerous world
I'm sure it makes a big difference if you drop a heavy ass on your sandals compared to dropping it on your foot while wearing shoes...
i wear slides everyday to the gym cuz i just take them off if im doing squats or dl lmao
I accidentally set off the lunk alarm once when I was adjusting the seat. I lowered it and let the lever go and it made an earth shattering bang.
@@bettercallseoul1504 no I'M the best, at making this ratio
The alarm is manually ran by a person. Just in case someone wants to know
You do realize it’s just a switch or button that a staff member presses/flips

@@LordBubbly what does that change
The sad reality, is that there is such a negative rep for bigger/more muscular people about being 'meatheads' when in actuallity they are some of the friendliest and most helpful gym goers.
Makes perfect sense when you think about how taking care of the body is healthy for the brain/mental health. Less fit = more unhappy
@@monkeymonkey1121 usually high ego andys are over represented in gyms tho, but yeah most "pseudo meatheads" are actually just nice people stereotyped
They say they "don't judge anyone" yet have a big ass sign saying that they basically hate and don't want people with big muscles, tank tops, gallon of water as well as grunting (literally normal when working out).
nice pfp
I've personally had a great experience at planet fitness, been there 6 months, lunk alarm has never gone off, 80% of the staff and customers are all jacked, staff is super friendly, and it's only $10 a month
Vasa or eos is better and it's also 10 bucks a month
Yeah it's got a bad reputation but most locations are fine I'm sure
Yea I had a similar experience as well. If you pay for such a cheap price what right do you have to not follow the rules. I think the only people that hate planet fitness are the power/egolifters and the people that don't go to the gym at all

During Covid, we tried to cancel our membership, but it took nearly a year and we had to pay the entire time. We looked into going back, but the loopholes they wanted us to jump through were insanely stupid. Nevermind. I will find another gym later.
You can't cancel it online on their website? If not, that seems very strange
Isnt that comment straight out of the video?

thats kinda the point isnt it? why is planet fitness pushing free piza onto people who are not liekly to turn it down?
But she earned the 285 calories by walking on the treadmill while on the phone for 15 minutes
One time I took my shirt off in planet fitness & the Hunk alarm went off instead.
The planet fitness I used to go to never once sounded the alarm, even after some girl tried squatting on the smith machines and ended up folding like a pancake, I think it honestly varies from location to location.
The only thing I'll say is that if you're skinny like xQc start off at Planet Fitness because they give out free food for you to bulk off of, after 3 months of progress dip and go to either Gold's or Crunch
Gold's used to be good but is just as bad as planet fitness these days... go to a cheap local gym that has enough equipment to make it justifiable
@@NUFCOfficial very true actually
Planet fitness is one of the best gyms nationally. Go there for the machines and find your closest powerlifting gym for the free weights. Commercial gyms are just cess pools of ego lifters, I don't have time for that nonsense.
@@unlisted9494 vasa is that cesspool lol. But still not an excuse to go to planet fitness 💀
If you are as rich as X just build a gym inhouse just like the better Felix did and get a proper trainer.
About canceling your card, you don't pay them through a card. You have to give them your routing number to a bank account so they can charge it directly. I reluctantly did it because the only other gyms near me cost like $40+ a month and some of them also want your routing number.
I feel like most of these 'getting kicked out' stories and being 'too intimidating' complaints are pretty rare exceptions specifically due to poor staff. Also have never seen free pastries/food there. Not a bad gym for the price, and you can easily reach an intermediate level there pretty efficiently. Definitely the best option for someone new.

it’s because it’s a chain. you’ll sometimes get ones that are basically regular gyms and some of them will be catered more towards the intimidated crowd

I've been going to planet fitness for three months (my first ever time working out or being in a gym) and I have missed pizza Monday every time. Nobody told me about it... I will eat my pizza next week, and no amount of angry YT essayists can stop me!
I have joked with my gym buddy about how ridiculous the lunk alarm sign is and have gone in jeans many times without issue. But I can do my whole routine and that's all that matters. It's just a bunch of weight machines. You don't need a 5michelan star experience to work on yourself.
i mean, if it floats your boat, you do you, nothing wrong with it. planet fitness will still be a ridicule and that's great too.
Why u going in jeans
Its not about it being 5michelan star, its the exact opposite, unless you're in absolute beginner couch potato level you cant do shit there
for most people it's about efficiency and planet fitness is the most convoluted crap ever just to go to the gym. If it's actually cheaper than other places and has enough benches then fair enough but most of the clips I see of it just doesn't have enough weights/different machines to make it worth while.
Huge red flag if you go in a gym and 75% of it is cardio.
“YT essayists” writes essay
It's true that cancelling is EXTREMELY difficult, but all the other things in this video I have never experienced. I see some absolute beasts in planet fitness every time I go, and the no judgement marketing is something that helps my mind relax while working out. Overall I think planet fitness is a great place to workout, but that's just my experience.
I see some massive guys and even e people that grunt, nobody actualy cares. It depends on the employees
It seems like a big franchise, chances are a lot of places don't really enforce these rules while other are overzealous with their work
You'll see absolute beasts at any gym, regardless of rules and regulations.
Planet fitness' issue is its disregard for personal gain, and discrimination against people who actually takes care of their bodies.
Like seriously, giving away pizza at a gym is both completely unacceptable and defeats the purpose of going to one.
And in no way should a person be kicked out for "maxing out"
Great place to work out, doesnt have a deadlift platform or squat rack. Lmao get real
@@professornova1236 Eating pizza once a month and going to the gym are not contradictory.

I think it depends on the area. There are 2 around me here in the suburbs of IL and I went in a while back for a tour of both locations. They felt pretty chill and the staff were very nice. My friend who is temporarily living in FL said otherwise. He would see people there workout in jeans and flip flops.
I actually go to this gym, its cheap and where I am everyone is chill. It is shaped for newcomers to get confused and get lost but if you do a little research and focus on your own workouts, you will definately get somewhere. Its just not that great everywhere and its known to be consistently bad so I guess I got lucky.
Yeah same, you could still get hella gains at planet just if you stick to it obv. Only rule to my gym is you have to wipe down every machine you use which I think is cool
I went to a PF regularly for over a year because it was close and very affordable. It helped me keep the pounds off and that was good for me. I never ONCE saw them giving out pizza, donuts, etc. They never used the Lunk Alarm while I was there. I never encountered any "intimidation" and there weren't ever any people there acting stupid and not using equipment correctly. It was a normal gym experience.
Pretty much just wrote the same comment before seeing this. Almost all of these negative stories/examples are just isolated incidents due to a few bad employees. People just enjoy looking for reasons to hate something and/or make content.
same here
I’m kinda disappointed they didn’t have free pizza at my gym. I’m paying normal price with no benefits. 😒
I love to jump rope instead of run, so I got a PF membership so I'd have a place when it started to get cold. I was told that no outside equipment was allowed
Its kind of a genius concept if you think about it. Cheap price and most of your customers don't ever come and actually use the gym so you can have a gigantic list of paying customers without the gym being crowded. If you think about it, gyms are financially incentivized to get non-dedicated customers because you can have way more of them
The pf I got to is chill, like some people slam weights but I hear no alarm so es good. Plus the goers there are chill I think two days ago I accidentally put the barbell to high and some buff dude helped me set lower. The only reason I go to pf is cuz it’s cheap and close by like I literally walk/run back home for some extra cardio.

I don’t have any issues at either of the PFs I frequent. There’s plenty of big dudes and I personally max out some of the weights there (never really felt like I needed more, I just do more reps). Never heard the lunk alarm. I don’t like going to gyms where people are tryharding, sweating all over the place and screaming at each other to get to new PRs. I’ll stick to PF, I like it

Lunk alarm doesn’t go off and the water bottle rule seems like a safety hazard
i’ve been going to my planet fitness for close to 2 years now and still haven’t heard the alarm go off once, even with dropping dumbbells right under it. most people are also pretty chill and range from old and beginner to young and massive. i’ve never gotten the hate because it does seem like a really good place to exercise and build a good amount of muscle with all the machines provided.
even if their game plan is to "keep people out of shape so they keep going"...you can't just magically stop going to the gym after getting your "dream bod", it's far more maintenance for someone like that than an unhealthy person who probably wouldn't show up as consistently anyway.
I think most serious lifters will graduate from machine only gyms though, if people actually learn to lift and enjoy it, I doubt they'll stick around PF when they have 0 barbells apparently.
@@jaku8513 yeah i can say that's 100% true, a group of my friends started wokring out with me and the ones that liked it quikcly switched to a different gym after a year. u can only do so much with the smith machine and 75lb dumbbells. But if you're just starting off planet fitness is (and i can't stress this enough) is the perfect starter.
That's the point, gyms want members that continue paying without ever showing up. If they only had members who, for example, lifted every day, they would quickly reach their membership capacity. In contrast, if they only had members who never lifted, their membership capacity would be infinite.

So many good points in the vid, although it’s a little overly unfair. It’s a good option to save money, but there are downsides because of the savings. When i had my membership, i’d want to go around 3-4 in the afternoon when i got off work, but that would be the busiest time of day and all the weights and machines would be in use. I cancelled after 4 months but i paid for fees and their “yearly fee” during that time so it was over $100 for a $10/mo. membership…
You can't cancel your card its linked to your bank account as a withdrawal.
If you dont pay I think they send it to collections to it messes with your credit score.
Okay i might get hate, when i began my weightlifting and weightloss journey I loved planet fitness, very relaxed atmosphere, never heard the alarm go off, never seen anyone kicked out, even dudes weatin spaghetti strap tank top and never had donuts or sodas or any thing of the sort... The dumbells go to 75lb, which is waaay more than enough for a beginner. I was obese and weak, started on the stair master, then moved to free weights and bench. I never had an issue with anyone. It depends on the location. It is a great place for newbies to go, there's lots of equipment and weights, space, the equipment is clean and well maintained. If you're already shredded then yeah, probably wont do much, but for a newbie and for 10 bucks a month, it was amazing.
I got to PF and ngl never had a problem ppl slam weights all the time some pretty big guys go and it’s cheap. The 75 cap on the dumbbell can be a problem but for me I focus mostly on form and used 65s so until I’m able to get 15 reps with 75s I’ll be going

When I turned 40 I wanted to get back in shape. All gyms looked confusing and not new person freindly. I found planet fitness and started going. It was the best choice I have made in a long time. If your a seasoned gym goer I am sure it is missing some items you like but for me a 40 year old out of shape person it gave me a place to go. A year later and I keep looking for a new gym closer that will fill my needs I dont see one. Planet fitness fills a need and should be talked about in a positive light. The negative only comes from rival gym nerds who want the people who would rather be at planet fitness then their gym at thier gym.. Its fake hate on a place that is helping people.
People love to trash on planet fitness yet a game is a gym, no matter what it is, it’s there to help
It must be a manager-location thing; the planet fitness I go to has friendly staff that doesn't bother you no matter what you do or wear. I deadlift all the time on the smithing machines, but yeah I wish they had less cardio machines
"What happens if you just cancel your card?" They'll send you to collections. Personal experience there. I finally got the motivation to go out of my way to go in to the gym and cancel it.
so pretty much what im getting from this is that its the employees who dont want better looking people around them so they kick them out

Anyone saying "it's for beginners" has never been to an actual gym. Other gyms aren't some scary place they legit just have more/better machines and space to do actual gym work for you to progress. Planet Fitness isn't even that cheap either.
planet fitness is literally $10 a month, has a smith machine for people that are scared of getting squashed on a squat rack or failing a bench pr, has cable machines, machines that arent optimal but do the job, and showers. for $10 a month, thats 100% worth it for anyone just getting into the gym.
@@icydaddy on top of that they have a machine for everything

When I started going to the gym, I must’ve been like a 90 lb dude lol. In all of the years I’ve been going, I only had ONE negative experience and everyone else has been super nice. Gym bros gave me tips while I was working out that I still use and I made some friends that taught me new workouts.
To be fair the one I go to have massage chairs and water beds
No, planet fitness's model isn't to kick out anyone who intimidates weaker people, it's to keep the demand for the equipment in the gym low. If you keep getting new lifters and advanced lifters get kicked out, theres no reason to buy heavy dumbbells (which are the most expensive of course) or large amounts of plates. It makes it cheaper to start up and franchize a planet fitness, so it's allowed them to spread almost everywhere just like other franchizable business's like mcdonalds. And while they're highly franchizable (way cheaper than starting your own gym), they're also highly profitable simply because of the fact that this business model has attracted larger amounts of new lifters because of the cheap prices. then many of them end up quitting soon thereafter. All of the keep the greasy bodybuilders out was because of an ad campaign that they funded because of how franchizable the business is, planet fitness originally just wanted to give people cheap gym memberships, like what crunch is doing now.
You're correct they just use the whole intimidation thing as a disguise but really they just have to cut costs everywhere. The problem that I have is that they actually contribute to people having gym anxiety when it isn't real... nobody is looking at you or cares that you are a beginner at all. Start at the lowest weight possible, learn the technique and work up.
@@NUFCOfficial Very true, though I will argue that gym anxiety exists, but it's just a form of social anxiety. Gyms teach us is that everyone cares how they look, and not so much how everyone else looks.

That is just my assumption purely based off my mindset. Not to mention but I'm always alone so yeah.

The answer to Felix's last question "Why not just cancel your card" is bc they do direct deposit.
The bad thing is not even that they use these strategies, the bad is that they work on enough people to make it a better business than an actual gym.
