I kept wondering why they tried to constantly discourage my growth and literally told me that they were sad for me because I no longer considered myself a victim. They kept trying to offer me money even though I didn't need it, kept trying to offer me trips, wanted me to quit my job and work for their friend, and other things to keep me codependently attached to them.
