I know this is an old video… But FYI, this and the silent assistant work extremely well together.

David, I know I'm a little late to the party with this one but to alleviate that problem where the time moves when you are ditching the little thingy, just move off the thingy in the same direction as the little hand where you set the time... I have the second iteration and they said this 2.0 uses a different method. I was wondering if you have to cycle through all the numbers to get it to move or you can just move it to that time and it moves? The ladder, would be the better method I'm wondering if they have done this?

I think from a layman´s perspective, it should not be a big problem to build a watch which contains a mechanism, that lets you show any time you want.
Whereas a picture of a clock seems much more difficult - if not impossible - to manipulate.
Therefore it makes much sense to use a picture of a clock.
So I think the only thing to master is leading their attention completely away from the picture.
Which means their focus has to be on the selection process of the time.
Therefore I think, make the selection process very important or maybe even a bit suspicious, and they will take the frozen-in-time-gimmick for what it is meant to be: just a picture.
I would not worry too much about the look of frozen-in-time, because it seems quite natural to me, that you make some effort to get a nice picture, if this picture has something important to say.

I had the original Frozen In Time and I loved it. I ordered this one as soon as I heard about it and got one of the first batches sent out several months ago.
I don’t buy magic watches for this type of effect because I only wear Rolex or Omega watches and anything else just feels and looks cheap to me.
Anyhow…I have a backstory that explains the photo being encased in acrylic and why I have it, (you make up your own backstory). It adds some mystery and spookiness to the use of the prop.
I then use it to “test” how sensitive my spectator is to psychic energy. I explain that there is a time on the watch, that it’s on the hour, and I tell them I’m going to stare at the image and try to project what it is to them. The last three times I performed this, I was at a table. I simply held it under the table where they couldn’t see it, and kept looking down and telling them to see if they could get a clear image of the time in their head and when they think they do…say it. They tell me. I set the time, but I don’t tell them if they were right or wrong. I ask if they got a strong sense for the time, or if it was “fuzzy” and they were guessing, or if multiple people ones were flashing through their head and they just filtered out the one that flashed most often.
While asking these things, I bring out the prop, face down, held at my fingertips and hand it to them, face down, reminding them of the time they said and I tell them to flip it over and see how close they were when they’re ready. They flip it over and there’s the reveal.
I tell them that they’re clearly attuned to psychic energies others are not as attuned to. It wasn’t me…I put it on them and praise them. Then I can move on to other mentalism effects - which have been eithe an ESP card routine or ‘The Oracle System’.
I find this version of Frozen In Time to be an excellent means of “testing” someone’s “abilities” before moving into other mentalism effects. It puts the spectator in the spotlight and with the super powers, and, I think, helps to strengthen the impact of the other mentalism effects I do following it.
    Works for me.
Oh, and the under the table method removes the need to be stealthy and the ‘other gimmick’ that facilitates the setting of the time is left secure and out of sight under the table to be cleaned up whenever an opportunity presents itself.

I have this effect. I use it with Madam Adelie's Instant Psychic Chewing Gum (from penguin). The patter is how I bought the gum at a secret Harry Potter shop only available to card carrying magicians (which I show). I have an incantation that an S. states while chewing on the gum (gets some laughs). I ask if the S. feels anything yet (interesting when they do) and then talk about how I have memorialized a special time (tailored for whomever I'm doing this for) and see if the gum empowered the S. to know the time. Get's good reactions.

YES! This prop would totally work for a Harry Potter themed trick - their universe has pictures that move! Brilliant

As a big Masuda fan in the past I’m not sure he gets the credit he deserves for developing these tricks. Katsudaya Masuda is little known outside western worlds. His WOW gimmick is very well known but I think he still doesn’t get the recognition he deserves. I have nearly all his effects and the original Frozen in Time is one of his best. It uses a small w***l to move the clock which seems more practical. Can I ask, does this use m*****s to move the arms of the clock?
    Another great review David
