    My goodness, as if this project wasn't impressive-looking enough as it was-- I can't believe all that fur was brushed yarn! I'd just assumed you had sewn it together using faux furs. So much respect!! I have already said it a hundred times on instagram, but I love this tiger so much! SO SO CUTE AND BEAUTIFUL!! I am so blown away and happy that the tropical collaboration inspired you to make it.
    [Edit: Hosting a huge collaboration for the first time was very daunting, and I did my best to think of everything and lay down the rules in a clear way. Nonetheless, it was a learing process for me. For example, I always considered the words "toy" and "doll" to reference hard plastic play things, for the most part. Plushies felt like a completely different category to me. Well, now I know better (and learned that the same words can mean different things around the world, haha). If I ever host another mega-collaboration, hopefully I'll do better!!]

      I totally get it! When you do something that big for the first time there are always factors you can't predict 🙈 Nobody blames you, I certainly don't!!! When you added that exclusion I was more like, "Of course, I should've realized" 😝 But it didn't deminish how much I enjoyed the project and wouldn't have begrudged you at all to exclude my submission.
      Lol, it is a crazy one 🤡 I'm just so thrilled that you liked it 🥰 and it's what gave me the push to start my channel so there's that!

      I have all these things in my house right now. I had set them aside for other various projects and... I guess I'll get stuff to work on those other projects later! I don't make the rules, they've just been repossessed by the tiger. *Shrug.*

    The pros of making toys this way is the ease of repairs this can give. My kids love to brush their longer furred toys. But this has resulted in some bald patches, which would need some sewing skills I don't possess, to repair. All I need is yarn and patience with this method!

    • @Projectarian
      @Projectarian  3 роки тому +2

      That is a good point, this one would be easy to repair by replacing the fur! 😁👍

    Just wanted to say that you're WAYYYY too awesome. At first I thought "I'll never do this even though it's amazing", because attaching individual yarns as hair/fur SUUUUCKS. But somehow I never considered using a latch hook... And I have 2 of them. This will be an ami game changer for me. I have gotten to the point of doing ami hair as little as possible, or trying to make what I do make into the most volume possible with the least amount of single strand attachment possible. So thank you, truly. I'm going to buy the atlas pattern (today! I'm on your email list, so thanks for the discount!) just so I can do this. I mean, I was going to buy atlas anyway, but I'm absolutely turning it into a beautifully furry jungle kitty! It may take me forever in between my millions of other wips, but eventually it will grace my collection. Thank you so much for your beautiful patterns. They're truly unbelievably extraordinary, and I appreciate all of the time and effort you put into them 😊😊😊

      The latch hook to attach is awesome. That's gonna make a difference for me since I use a crochet hook to do mine. Brushing all that out and attaching is a pain. Im glad you mentioned it in the video. Brushing out is no joke.

  • @ku62838

    Amazing!! An incredible amount of work, but what a stunning end product!!!!
    Also, there's another layer of admiration in that you felted All In Acrylic. Acrylic is a *pain* to felt because it doesn't grab like wool. Sure helps with the removability, but OOF that must have taken Forever. And mostly with one needle!!! Unbelievable and Amazing!!!!!

    • @Projectarian
      @Projectarian  3 роки тому +1

      Haha, I suppose it's a good thing that I've never felted with anything else so I wouldn't know I'm doing it the hard way by using acrylic 😝 I was pretty silly for just using 1 needle though 🙈 Haha, it was a long project but loads of fun! I'm so glad you love it, thank you!! 🥰⚘

    Well done. I’ve experimented with the techniques in this video but on a much simpler and smaller scale. I did a baby Eevee. I don’t have a latch hook. I did all the knots with a crochet hook. And yep. Took forever! And I really like doing felted eyes for dolls and amigurumi. I’ve found you can mimic the cartoons better than only using safety eyes. Especially unusual eyes or features like spiderman, batman, and Gekko that i’ve made for my nephew.
    But you’ve inspired me to try more. The free standing ears were impressive. I’ve only done crochet and then covered in felting. For me it seems more secure to sew on. But maybe I will try. Also thanks for the tip on keeping the colors separated.
    Congratulations on finishing such a beautiful project and thank you for sharing!

    • @Projectarian
      @Projectarian  3 роки тому

      I'm glad you found it helpful! Yes, I love felting eyes, that's what got me into felting! There's just no way to get similar effects with crocheting alone!! I also started off by felting onto crochet and I agree that the ears would be much stronger that way 👍🏻 This project was something I did for myself so the durability isn't an issue for me personally - I didn't even expect to be able to make it into this much of a 'tutorial' 😛

    I am a long time crocheter and am new to needle felting. One thing i had to try was to needle felt over a mini gnome i had crocheted. Is was so small you couldn't get a smooth enough face. Enter needle felting and SUCCESS! I also am not rich and could not afford the more expensive wool, but had loads of yarn ends. small balls that became a huge amount of 'roving' when brushed by my cat wire comb. I am delighted to see the amazing result of your collaboration between crochet and felting. I know exactly what you went through to make the fur slowly and carefully. That was the big time consumer for sure. You did such a wonderful job. Especially with the face! I love the fact that like crochet, you can undo and re-do felting. It just came out so perfect and I am glad you let everyone see the mistakes and the learning curve, It is real important to give them the feel that it is OK to make mistakes and just keep on keeping on, until you get it the way you want. Good teaching there! Thank you so very much for showing this, Such detailed teaching in such a short time.!!

    This is so cool and such a good walkthrough of the process.
    Do keep in mind, if you do use natural wool, it won't be this easy to undo because of the specific way natural wool fibers hook together when felted. Doing a first project with the more forgiving acrylic is probably a good idea.

I have done the whole latch hook thing for rugs so that alone is such a long process (Then brushing it out and it looks like plush fur). You have such patience and deserve more eyes on your work. Not to mention the needle felting for the face , it's so pretty. Anyways, I'm just admiring your work. It is awesome.

      Haha, sorry to have kept you waiting, I was very intimidated by editing a month's worth of footage as my first-ever video, so it took me a while 😆 So glad you like it!!! 🥰

      @@Projectarian ahhh don’t be sorry! Video editing is very tedious and hard! I take forever on any art project I have to do!

    That's so cool. I think I'm going to try this fur technique someday, but on a smaller scale first.
    Edit: also, have you tried using magnets to get the broken needle off? Idk, just got to this part and thought it might be a bit helpful to move the needle to it's easier to get off, at least, or locate it.
