Funny story I used to destroy my friends with Jago on this game. Back then we didn't have internet or phones like today so one day I went to the public library and looked up Killer Instinct cheats and it gave me a tutorial on all the characters combos and ultra and ultimate, so I printed is out went home and practiced my ass off with Jago cuz he was my favorite. So when we would play on the weekends I would just destroy them with Jago cuz I knew all his combos lol, I never told them about my combo guide. It pissed them off so much that the refused to play KI with me lol and when we did play they tell me I can't use Jago at all. Best memory I have about this game.
Can anybody help me with Glacius 70+Ultra this has been my favorite game but never mastered it?🙏🏾😔 I get his 5 enders and all that it’s just after I parry I get an additional +2 manual which = 4 and I don’t know the timing of when to do them and how to properly do manual doubles to extend my ultra combo. I’ve been looking and asking everywhere inquiring about this for while now. :(
I was always a bit frightened of these as a kid because my opponent would do them out of no where and now I am forever scarred by Sabrewolf bat call lol. Yet they were so cool back then, I tried to look up how to do them but all I could ever get was the fake out moves that LOOKED like the ultimate. But I did get one awesome thing and that I was able to play as Gargos! Man those were the days.
This is a blast from the past! Thanks for sharing. I'd mastered Sabrewulf and Orchid, closely followed by Spinal I think. I didn't even know about some of the fatalities!

One of my friends would bring his SNES over (and other consoles he had with fighting games) and he'd beat my ass every time. KI was the only one I was able to whop him in turn! Haha!

One of the things i really liked about this game was that you had the ability to throw them off the bridges, or through the wall, or off the boat. It was so cool. You should make a video about their finishing moves. Good job on this one though. I'd hate to play against you, I'd get my butt kicked! lol
After a certain point the ultra becomes automatic. I used to put the controller down and watch the ultra combo finish my friends off, lol. The good ole days
This used to be my favorite. We turned on early ultimates and any time during the second bar, if you caught the opponent slipping you could have them "eat this"
The subtle camera shake on every hit and cries of pain really made you feel like you were beating the living fuck out of your opponent. Fighting games lack this nowadays.
I am excited for the anti-turtling measures in the new KI for Xbox One. Matches between KI experts in 1/2/Gold often ended up being defensive struggles with neither player wanting to give up an opener.

I used to be good with Fulgore, Jago, and Kim Wu. 6:30 Fulgore's second finisher was a nightmare, I used to hope around the stage trying not to get caught by that death lazer lol

This is one of the best fighting games of all time. The reason why they didn’t get successful like the other games in 90’s like street fighter and mortal Kombat is that because they don’t have any main characters. For example in mortol kimbat someone like sub zero and scorpion are popular characters but there not main characters ( they are in recent games but not in 90’s) there main characters are lui kane Johnny cage exc. basically what I’m saying is that all of killer instinct characters are cool but none of them can fill a role as a main character. In fact the game doesn’t have any. And as cool as killer instinct is .. that’s the reason why it never went far. They never established a clear story line and a main character.
I'd say that the reason that it wasn't popular is because N64 was kinda hated back in the days. And they didn't throw out 20 games or so in the series like Mortal Kombat is. But for me. This characters stand much stronger than Mortal Kombat ones.

@num1Beatlesfan I had read somewhere systems with the Expansion Pak installed (the first party one sold with DK64 for example) won't run KI Gold. In fact, it's supposedly the only game that WON'T run without it. Though I have heard of ones running it fine, so I dunno.
I agree, this is one game that really needs to be remade according to today's standards. I've been patiently waiting forever. Unfortunately, Rare and the other creators have no intention of doing so. Which Really doesn't make sense. This game has some very loyal followers.

@num1Beatlesfan I remember someone at a videogame store told me about it because he got a lot of returns on KI Gold and heard some people throwing it out because they thought their game fried. He said that's what people eventually figured out. However, I have a friend of mine that insists he has the first-party Expansion Pak and it runs KI Gold just fine. I dunno if there's multiple versions of the Expansion Pak and/or KI Gold and different combos of them work or what the deal is.
Killer Instinct 2 (Gold) is a storyline sequel. The original storyline had Riptor, Cinder and Thunder die I think. The new KI is bringing back Thunder, so there is a chance Riptor will be in it too.
I spent so much money dropping quarters into this game and the original in the arcade... I have hope this will finally come to XBLA since Rare is releasing Perfect Dark on it *prays*
