My wife and I met in 2nd grade. Ran with the same group of friends in our teens. Started dating at 17. Got married at 24. Been married 33 years. Key has been, through good and bad times, be true to the commitment you make in your wedding vows. We made a life long commitment. We built a life together and genuinely can’t imagine a life without each other. It takes work, but if you stay true to your commitment, it grounds you when things get rough. Using your words, every day choose to do everything necessary to honor your commitment - when divorce is not an option you will choose to work harder to overcome obstacles. Unless you are in an abusive situation, a loving, committed couple can work through anything. Keep up the good work guys.
My youngest brother met his wife on Sunday school. They were both volunteers. She was 16 and he was 13. They started “dating” at 17 and 14 and got married at 21 and 18. They’ve been together 10 years married 8. They have such a beautiful relationship. They’re best friends and such a great team. They have two beautiful kids and are wanting more. My little brother knew she was the one the moment he met her.

Communication is absolutely essential for a successful relationship! It’s so nice to hear that they were able to grow up together and they had the same ideas and views on life. So many people go into relationships(at all different ages) and they don’t have the same views and outlooks on how they want their lives to be like and don’t know how to talk through the issues they have and it leads to resentment. Once it gets to that point it is so hard to get back to how you were before!

Actually I think that young couples who are supporting a partner through some form of “addiction” or “recovery”‘is really admirable. Just remember you only see what people choose to share and no couple is perfect. My now husband and I are coming up on 10 years together & almost 3 married. Shortly after we started dating at 17 years old I became unwell with multiple chronic illnesses and I have had the most unwavering support and compassion from my husband. Our marriage isn’t perfect but we believe in open, honest communication, compromise and prioritising our relationship above all else.
I have been with my husband since I was 19 years old- married for 11 years and together for 19 years❤marriage takes a lot of work but as long as you are best friends and work together not against each other is the best! I truly feel like people change as you get older but if you can both grow together then you’re marriage will last eternity!

Hey guys! I fell in love with you two while watching your videos, enjoying the heck out of your interactions, big smiles, laughter, and beautiful personalities. Real quick from me... My wife and I met and started dating then she was 14 and I was 16. Married at 17 and 19. Last month we celebrated 53 years of marriage. I actually remember thinking on the morning of our wedding that I couldn't love her more than I did at that moment. 53 years have proven that sentiment as wrong. She is still my everything, but more than I thought could be possible. Another note about us, is that we met at church when my father accepted the pastorate of a small Baptist church. I told my parents that very first day that I had met the girl I was going to marry. Mama laughed. Daddy looked at me and very seriously said, "Really? Who is the girl?" When I described her he said he remembered meeting her that morning and said she was very pretty. He became her biggest fan (after me, of course) and doted on her until his death. My husband and I always bicker 😊 but I agree having kids takes it to a whole other level because you feel like the stakes are so high, your rooting for what you thinks best for your little one and your right it isn’t always going to align with what your spouse thinks. I’m turning 49 in August and it’s crazy to think about how long we’ve been married. We really don’t argue at all. We are the same as you two. I have a 25 year old daughter who has Type 1 Diabetes along with other multiple autoimmune disorders. And I have a 22 year old son. That’s just crazy. My husband and I started dating at barely 15 years old. 8 years later we got married and were being warned we didn't have enough in common, were too young, etc. Lol. Whatever. Married 24 years this year. We still don't have common hobbies or anything...we just can't get tired of each other. He's my favorite. I can really echo the importance of learning what causes drama (hunger, fatigue, miscommunication, feeling unsure) and reminding ourselves to give each other grace and to be loving in intention. If I know he meant well, I can deal with it. It hurts differently than if I am thinking he means to hurt me. It's all that trust you build over the years. ALSO...being together since we were so young means we KNOWWWWW each other. Lol.

You’ve encouraged me to focus again on my relationship with the Lord. I’ve always been Christian but I struggle and fall away from the Lord when my depression and anxiety spikes. I know that Satan uses my mental health struggles against me too. So I’ve been praying more and more BUT not only praying… also thanking God everyday for His blessings. I think it’s important to not ONLY speak to the Lord when you’re asking for something but you also speak with Him to give gratitude and praise. I have been with my high school sweetheart for 21 years I’m 39. He has stuck by my side and still chose me after finding out I had stage 3 cancer and a new born. He never left my side. I thank God for my struggle bc that’s when I found God. I call them my holy smokes moments when you look back and see Gods work In yo ur life bc perfect timing. I want to get my testimony out but I dont know how. I have pet scan on 3rd they think I may have cancer again I have a 12 year old too. It’s scary but my husband Carrie’s me through with God. We’ve been together for 13 years and also high school sweet hearts. (Both he and I were 16). And we have a relationship very similar to yours, aka we never fight (have never fought before nor said a mean word to each other ever.) We’re best friends without a doubt. Communication is easy, important and we have our own language pretty much. We saved each other and grew up together. But a few exceptions in similarity of your relationship- we’re not ever going to have children (neither of us has ever wanted that) but we have and want pets always. We’re atheists and I have religious trauma so we never ever consider any spirituality in our relationship. And I personally still get the butterflies regularly around him lol. I don’t have to choose him. My brain won’t let me stop crushin’ on this man. But he does choose me and he doesn’t have butterflies always like I do (I don’t think he does anyway). So at least one of us isn’t crazy lol. Our rules/tips for a loving, amazing long relationship 1-Make your partner the center of your world(in a healthy way lol). Nothing comes between you. You are a team and treat your partner with true respect, and ensure that everyday and every choice is aimed at them being happy. (Aka don’t ever be malicious, always want their happiness, don’t get annoyed over small things, treat them like your best friend, be truly kind) 2-your friendship is vital. Be playful. Have fun. Spend time together. Never take a breather, just talk it out until you’re happy or neutral again. Everything can be worked out with communication and a hug. 3- Physical touch. Love each other physically. Make out lol. It’s weird to say it but you need to remember to be very romantic with each other. Kiss, hold hands, cuddle, compliment each other, have .. alonnnneeee time regularly lol. 4- don’t let go of yourself. Work hard on your mind, your body, your outward appearance, your personal hobbies, your other relationships with friends and family, continue to strive to be the best version of yourself. And always encourage your partner to do the same. Also keep some mystery alive and don’t fart in front of each other lol. Gotta keep it sexy people. Don’t let go of yourself. And my last tip is just to actually remind yourself of your entire relationship every now and then. Go back to those feelings you had when you started dating. Remind yourself of all your first times together. Remember how beautiful your entire love story is and be proud of each other and the love you have. Write long ass comments about your relationship in someone’s UA-cam video because you just can’t help yourself but talk about it lol. It’s probably the most incredible journey you’ll ever have and you deserve to be proud of it.
Always communicate to each other. Make birthdays and major holidays top priority…go over the top for each other. You are each other’s best friends and soft place to fall. Talk sweetly to each other. My husband and I just celebrated our 29th wedding anniversary June 26. We will be together 33 years in December. We’ve known each other for over 34 years. We were high school sweethearts too. I’m turning 49 in August and it’s crazy to think about how long we’ve been married. We really don’t argue at all. We are the same as you two. I have a 25 year old daughter who has Type 1 Diabetes along with other multiple autoimmune disorders. And I have a 22 year old son. That’s just crazy. Married 24 years this year. We still don't have common hobbies or anything...we just can't get tired of each other. He's my favorite.
I can really echo the importance of learning what causes drama (hunger, fatigue, miscommunication, feeling unsure) and reminding ourselves to give each other grace and to be loving in intention. If I know he meant well, I can deal with it. It hurts differently than if I am thinking he means to hurt me. It's all that trust you build over the years. ALSO...being together since we were so young means we KNOWWWWW each other. Lol.

Thank you for sharing your story! I just love y’all so much and I would love to meet you!! You guys inspire me to get out of this horrible deep depression I’ve been in for 3+ years…. You’ve encouraged me to focus again on my relationship with the Lord. I’ve always been Christian but I struggle and fall away from the Lord when my depression and anxiety spikes. I know that Satan uses my mental health struggles against me too. So I’ve been praying more and more BUT not only praying… also thanking God everyday for His blessings. I think it’s important to not ONLY speak to the Lord when you’re asking for something but you also speak with Him to give gratitude and praise.

I have been with my high school sweetheart for 21 years I’m 39. He has stuck by my side and still chose me after finding out I had stage 3 cancer and a new born. He never left my side. I thank God for my struggle bc that’s when I found God. I call them my holy smokes moments when you look back and see Gods work In yo ur life bc perfect timing. I want to get my testimony out but I dont know how. I have pet scan on 3rd they think I may have cancer again I have a 12 year old too. It’s scary but my husband Carrie’s me through with God. I play church league softball with a guy that could be hunter’s twin! It’s a little crazy! They even talk alike!
We’ve been together for 13 years and also high school sweet hearts. (Both he and I were 16). And we have a relationship very similar to yours, aka we never fight (have never fought before nor said a mean word to each other ever.) We’re best friends without a doubt. Communication is easy, important and we have our own language pretty much. We saved each other and grew up together. But a few exceptions in similarity of your relationship- we’re not ever going to have children (neither of us has ever wanted that) but we have and want pets always. We’re atheists and I have religious trauma so we never ever consider any spirituality in our relationship. And I personally still get the butterflies regularly around him lol. I don’t have to choose him. My brain won’t let me stop crushin’ on this man. But he does choose me and he doesn’t have butterflies always like I do (I don’t think he does anyway). So at least one of us isn’t crazy lol.
Our rules/tips for a loving, amazing long relationship
1-Make your partner the center of your world(in a healthy way lol). Nothing comes between you. You are a team and treat your partner with true respect, and ensure that everyday and every choice is aimed at them being happy. (Aka don’t ever be malicious, always want their happiness, don’t get annoyed over small things, treat them like your best friend, be truly kind)
2-your friendship is vital. Be playful. Have fun. Spend time together. Never take a breather, just talk it out until you’re happy or neutral again. Everything can be worked out with communication and a hug.
3- Physical touch. Love each other physically. Make out lol. It’s weird to say it but you need to remember to be very romantic with each other. Kiss, hold hands, cuddle, compliment each other, have .. alonnnneeee time regularly lol.
4- don’t let go of yourself. Work hard on your mind, your body, your outward appearance, your personal hobbies, your other relationships with friends and family, continue to strive to be the best version of yourself. And always encourage your partner to do the same. Also keep some mystery alive and don’t fart in front of each other lol. Gotta keep it sexy people. Don’t let go of yourself.
And my last tip is just to actually remind yourself of your entire relationship every now and then. Go back to those feelings you had when you started dating. Remind yourself of all your first times together. Remember how beautiful your entire love story is and be proud of each other and the love you have. Write long ass comments about your relationship in someone’s UA-cam video because you just can’t help yourself but talk about it lol. It’s probably the most incredible journey you’ll ever have and you deserve to be proud of it.
