    You have apparently taken a lot of heat in these comments for talking too much and taking too long to do the demo, but your first 6 minutes of talking are what convinced me to get this bass. So thanks for talking through it for the sake of us who need to hear what other players feel and think about the guitar as well as hearing it. I was on the fence between a few different ones, but your comprehensive review convinced me to get the SR505. Thanks!

    Thanks! Your review showed the versatility of the bass better than the official video of the bass did!

    Just found this bass at guitar center for 350 and put a layaway on it. Moving from a fender squire pbass to this one. This one felt so perfect . Fit so good on my lap. Thanks for the review. Glad I didn't waste my time.

    Great review! I bought an SR505E after watching this, as I did not have a 5 string bass, and I have an Ibanez srh500f 4 string as well. I've been playing professionally live and in studios for 53 years, I'm a vintage fender bass snob, and an upright player. IMO Ibanez build the finest basses on the market today and that includes custom basses that cost $1000's more. I reach for my Ibanez basses most of the time now. They are extremely well engineered.

    Maybe someone has pointed this out already, but the current version does have a battery lid that snaps out.

    I have a 2011 SR505 - I play in a worship setting weekly. LOVE this bass. It has the easy open battery cover and its passive/active - Super nice. I would love a music man or other bass, but then I go play one and I instantly miss my ibanez neck... its slim and so fast. I have yet to find anything else like it. I bought mine new from GC on sale for $400ish. Currently looking for a 5 string fretless - I've played a bunch, but its looking like I will stick with Ibanez. Thanks for the review.

    Thank you, Kennis! I enjoyed the "talk" part of the video and I think it was especially useful! I am looking into basses, as I would like make a purchase and begin to study bass. I was not sure whether or not this bass was capable of other musical genres, like jazz & slapping, because I've mainly found videos of people using it for rock and metal. It is definitely a very versatile bass! And, by the way, I am tall and really skinny guy. So, the weight of the instrument is also an issue. Thank you again! :)

      Ibanez basses are excellent for any style. I don't personally own ome but I have played many and they are sturdy and are easy to play so I'd say try out a few brands first before settling cheers :).

      Florian Gabriel i couldnt find a used one, but i have a gear card and in order to get it with no interest financing i had to buy it new. I still think its a good price. Vs my old 15 year old bass, this one sounds very nice. :)

    I too got my strap screw to come away from the body, but got it easily fixed with wood glue and matchsticks :P And true, the body is very delicate. Doesn´t bother me, it´s a very good bass, especially considering the price.

    I never seen a SR505 with that color. It looks similar to TKF but copula between body and neck is more blacker that that. And it's definitely not the BM or TFF. Can you tell me the color of your SR505??

      Havr you bought it? I'm gonna buu it next week, it's one of the best bass for metal, I already played it, it's stringa spacing (16.5mm) and fast neck (really thin) make this bass tremendously good.

    This bass has a great sound, but the wood is very delicate, even when using the slap technique can damage the wood.

      ***** Yeah its basically the same bass. They did move the pickups closer to the neck a bit and they added a mid frequency switch that changes the frequency the mid control boosts or cuts. They also changed the truss rod cover so its easier to get at and they did change the battery cover. Other than that its mostly cosmetic changes like the neck joint and the color.

    This guy has no idea what he is talking about THIS BASS DOES NOT HAVE ACTIVE PICKUPS, it has an active EQ, not active pickups, and he does not mention the Bartolini pickups AT ALL, that make the bass sound amazing, with the ACTIVE EQ. THIS GUY SHOULD NOT REVIEW BASSES,

    • @planetsypherrecords
      @planetsypherrecords 8 років тому

      +Kennis Russell There are many basses that are Active Pick Ups with Active Preamps. There's a HUGE difference between active pickups and passive pickups. Since this is a bass with Passive Pups and an active Eq it CAN use an active/passive switch which makes it way more versatile. If it had active Pups it could never be played without a battery but with a switch this could be played without a battery because of the passive Pups.

      I have an SR505 and it's a GREAT bass! It's super tight and I've been a five string player for years because the fifth string really brings a new dynamic.
