From her perspective Robbie and Cadey were acting weord and trying to leave someone , who she could currently see, behind. She probably had less focus on the boys at the time. Remember the others entirely missed the weird behaviours earlier. Plus after having seen kai being weird earlier shed expect that from him; probably assuming he was sick high drunk etc. All ofbwhich wpuld be out weighed by worry for your friend. Its more on casey and robbie for not better explaining earlier. Id have simply told her someone or something had killed Emily amd tried to get her to the car before explaining its essentially body snatchers

Plus, why would I chase after someone who is just standing in the woods and looks completely fine? I’d ask Emily what was wrong but if she didn’t say anything then I wouldn’t go after her. Not to mention, two of my friends seem scared out of their minds and tell me not to go off by myself into the woods so I’m sure as hell not doing that. Ariana was acting dumb in this situation.

The story is about high schoolers so the love interest will survive. And of course have a happy ending lol. It's unfortunately a bit cliche but oh well. The character development was solid. Story and stupid decisions were questionable tho

The story was good up until they started looking for Arianna, didn't make any Sense as they lost all fear of Kyle and Ki who they were terrified with just moments ago. Would have made more Sense if they just kept going and got ambushed by Arianna at the truck running her over or something.
It seems many stories and movies have to make the characters do stupid things to move the plot these days. Watched Prometheus or Covenant and prepare to be frustrated. Same with this. The best stories don't make the characters act like idiots. It's frustrating as a viewer or reader and takes away from a decent story
It's because Kye and Kyle made no effort in catching them while they were walking/running, and the MC noticed that. So it makes sense to me as to why she didn't see them as a big threat. And the fact that they were trying to constantly convince them to stop and join should already tell you that they can't do anything physical to the MC and friends. Maybe if you were smarter, you would've caught that.

This story was epic. And uncannily realistic. I think they were learning to communicate and deceive and Kyle was lying. There is no conceivable reason he would "pretend" while he was alone with Kai.

About MC wondering if she did the right thing, it wasn't about kai and kyle it was about kyle alone. Here's why: -just like you said, those replacements (that's what I'll call them) could only repeat the things that were previously already said like a recording, except that they're smart enough to use the right names of course. However, what kyle said in the end wasn't a repeated phrase but his OWN original words.. "im pretending. I'm in real trouble. Don't leave me here with them" - if you noticed, those replacements are incapable of strong facial expressions, or at least expressions that match the context. Kai DID grin a couple times but that's about the only expression noted in these replacements. Even when they mimicked a laugh, their expressions never matched. Even when kai and kyle were trying to sell worry and concern, trying to convince MC and Robbie to look for emily and Arianna, for the most part they were pretty blank faced. However, MC said that in that last moment she saw pure terror and fear in Kyle's face -when kyle was convincing arianna that they have to help Emily, the MC notes that it sounds like real urgency in his voice. Again, for the most part the replacements aren't very good with matching their tones and expressions to the context, and she states multiple times that their voices aren't quite right, like they're reading a new language and improvising what it could sound like. -when robbie manages to get the car open, kai freaking unhinges his jaws and makes that howl scream, kyle doesn't -now I cant remember this exactly, but kyle keeps repeating "casey lies" throughout their pursuit, even in the end when him and kai are trying to convince them to stay and look for arianna and emily. It could very well be a hint he's making that he's lying I.e pretending. I also can't remember the word "lies" having been said by any of them before, so who's kyle repeating? Then again I can't perfectly remember everything they all said - again, in the end near the car, kyle reaches out his hand to casey repeating when she previously said something like "you have to trust me on this girl". Could very well be him making another attempt to get through to them. But of course, there's plenty of counter arguments that it was just Kyle's replacement trying to trick the MC. The author is trying to get readers in the same mind as the MC, to leave us wondering which is the truth, and if they really did leave behind an innocent and terrified Kyle alone with those things. About robbie, I disagree that he was acting weird, I actually found his reactions pretty realistic. About him not talking much, well you can't really be that talkative in their situation facing those things right? Plus the MC is casey and we could say the others aren't really talking when we think they should be, like arianna before her whole outburst. I really got sold on robbie being terrified and was frustrated at casey leaving him behind to split off. Really stupid decision by a character who had otherwise been pretty smart, plot needing stupid decisions I guess. About why kai and kyle weren't attacking them and only kept trying to convince them to follow them back. I'm guessing these things can't really attack them, they need to lure them to another one of them so that they could be replaced. Perhaps these things can only replace them fresh after killing them. Kai and kyle couldn't just attack or kill them, they need to be attacked by the one that's going to replace them. That's also why emily lured arianna away, and all the other times too e.g emily luring kai away and kai luring kyle away
She's the sort that would be calling out "hello" at 3am when she hears a mysterious noise, in her own house, when she lives alone. I don't see her surviving her next Creepypasta.

Most of the teenagers have me mad close to the beginning, when none of them thought nothing was wrong with Emily. Poor girl probably wouldn’t have had Robby with her in the end but if she had just tried to find some way to peace out of there on her own, she probably wouldn’t be so badly traumatized. I don’t know if they all managed to climb into and squeeze themselves into that one car or not and if they had a cell service. It’s hard to imagine that many squeezing into one car without maybe 1 or 2 squeezing into the trunk.
I honestly don't think that kyle was faking it the entire time because it wouldn't make sense for the creature possessing kai to trust kyle if he was faking especially since they both went off together alone.

It makes sense, I have severe anxiety and I read that horror movies and anything meant to scare you can help with it. Maybe it’s a desensitization that makes you less prone to fear, sadness, anxiety, etc., but it’s worked for me. I never really had a taste for the scary horror genre but now I’ve got a decent collection of horror dvds and listen to these ALL the time. Keep it up and my best goes out to you bro.

Kray Gray it’s tough to tell, since the creature mentioned (fleshgait & skinwalkers) have some of the same traits. I don’t know enough about skinwaker lore to be able to tell. I do know that fleshgait have a difficult time adapting to walking at first and adapt memory, so that may not be it.
Don't fleshgaits have a low level psychic ability though? I thought they were able to tinker around with a small degree of memories to further confuse and disorient their targets

I seriously hope noone is that stupid to actually allow these events to unfold. Camping in the woods with no protection, separating from the group knowing of the danger, and most importantly turning back trying to be a hero. This one is definitely going into my favorites. The pacing is absolutely perfect. The suspense starts a steady climb right away, and first bit has just the right amount of levity to keep it grounded. Must have more from this writer!
SPOILER ALERT: this story was pretty good; the only problems i really had with it were the stupidity of the characters (the group splitting up, arianna not listening to her friends, casey going after arianna, etc.) and that it did seem that robbie had plot armour on merely because he happened to be the main character's love interest.

It's because Kye and Kyle made no effort in catching them while they were walking/running, and the MC noticed that. So it makes sense to me as to why she didn't see them as a big threat. And the fact that they were trying to constantly convince them to stop and join should already tell you that they can't do anything physical to the MC and friends. Maybe if you were smarter, you would've caught that.

About MC wondering if she did the right thing, it wasn't about kai and kyle it was about kyle alone. Here's why:
-just like you said, those replacements (that's what I'll call them) could only repeat the things that were previously already said like a recording, except that they're smart enough to use the right names of course. However, what kyle said in the end wasn't a repeated phrase but his OWN original words.. "im pretending. I'm in real trouble. Don't leave me here with them"
- if you noticed, those replacements are incapable of strong facial expressions, or at least expressions that match the context. Kai DID grin a couple times but that's about the only expression noted in these replacements. Even when they mimicked a laugh, their expressions never matched. Even when kai and kyle were trying to sell worry and concern, trying to convince MC and Robbie to look for emily and Arianna, for the most part they were pretty blank faced. However, MC said that in that last moment she saw pure terror and fear in Kyle's face
-when kyle was convincing arianna that they have to help Emily, the MC notes that it sounds like real urgency in his voice. Again, for the most part the replacements aren't very good with matching their tones and expressions to the context, and she states multiple times that their voices aren't quite right, like they're reading a new language and improvising what it could sound like.
-when robbie manages to get the car open, kai freaking unhinges his jaws and makes that howl scream, kyle doesn't
-now I cant remember this exactly, but kyle keeps repeating "casey lies" throughout their pursuit, even in the end when him and kai are trying to convince them to stay and look for arianna and emily. It could very well be a hint he's making that he's lying I.e pretending. I also can't remember the word "lies" having been said by any of them before, so who's kyle repeating? Then again I can't perfectly remember everything they all said
- again, in the end near the car, kyle reaches out his hand to casey repeating when she previously said something like "you have to trust me on this girl". Could very well be him making another attempt to get through to them.
But of course, there's plenty of counter arguments that it was just Kyle's replacement trying to trick the MC. The author is trying to get readers in the same mind as the MC, to leave us wondering which is the truth, and if they really did leave behind an innocent and terrified Kyle alone with those things.
About robbie, I disagree that he was acting weird, I actually found his reactions pretty realistic. About him not talking much, well you can't really be that talkative in their situation facing those things right? Plus the MC is casey and we could say the others aren't really talking when we think they should be, like arianna before her whole outburst. I really got sold on robbie being terrified and was frustrated at casey leaving him behind to split off. Really stupid decision by a character who had otherwise been pretty smart, plot needing stupid decisions I guess.
About why kai and kyle weren't attacking them and only kept trying to convince them to follow them back. I'm guessing these things can't really attack them, they need to lure them to another one of them so that they could be replaced. Perhaps these things can only replace them fresh after killing them. Kai and kyle couldn't just attack or kill them, they need to be attacked by the one that's going to replace them. That's also why emily lured arianna away, and all the other times too e.g emily luring kai away and kai luring kyle away
She's the sort that would be calling out "hello" at 3am when she hears a mysterious noise, in her own house, when she lives alone. I don't see her surviving her next Creepypasta.

Most of the teenagers have me mad close to the beginning, when none of them thought nothing was wrong with Emily. Poor girl probably wouldn’t have had Robby with her in the end but if she had just tried to find some way to peace out of there on her own, she probably wouldn’t be so badly traumatized. I don’t know if they all managed to climb into and squeeze themselves into that one car or not and if they had a cell service. It’s hard to imagine that many squeezing into one car without maybe 1 or 2 squeezing into the trunk.

It makes sense, I have severe anxiety and I read that horror movies and anything meant to scare you can help with it. Maybe it’s a desensitization that makes you less prone to fear, sadness, anxiety, etc., but it’s worked for me. I never really had a taste for the scary horror genre but now I’ve got a decent collection of horror dvds and listen to these ALL the time. Keep it up and my best goes out to you bro.

Don't fleshgaits have a low level psychic ability though? I thought they were able to tinker around with a small degree of memories to further confuse and disorient their targets

This one is definitely going into my favorites. The pacing is absolutely perfect. The suspense starts a steady climb right away, and first bit has just the right amount of levity to keep it grounded. Must have more from this writer!

this story was pretty good; the only problems i really had with it were the stupidity of the characters (the group splitting up, arianna not listening to her friends, casey going after arianna, etc.) and that it did seem that robbie had plot armour on merely because he happened to be the main character's love interest.
