Every time I finish a Spey Fly, I want to jump up and celebrate. I have finished a few of them and gone on to making my own chiller fly, what ever that means. I often just stop and breathe for a minute. Happy to be done. They really do test my metal when I end. Thank you Davie for everything you have done for me over the years. It's been a trip!

Masterclass by the best in the business.
Another nice salmon fly this is Davie. I’ll definitely have a try at it. Thank you for another one dude. 😊😊😊
And that looks fine...no Davie that looks perfect ❤
Absolutely beautiful fly Davie you would think that JC grew there.
The whole fly has a very oldie feel to it which really goes with the hook 😲 stunning
Good morning from Sweden
good morning from Russia )
Beautiful fly Davie, great video as always I learn something watching your videos. Thanks.
Another beautiful tie. Makes me wish I lived anywhere near salmon. Loved the boars wool also.
Great Show Davie!! Thank you sir!!
Beautiful tie Davie, one I have tied a couple times recently as a gift for a family member. Those JC wing feathers are tricky to align but you make it look easy. Well done.
Not an easy thing to learn from any of the books, that I had access to, when I learned how to tie. I gave up on them - and it actually does look pretty easy here.
Magic to see the old ways. You are a master craftsman and a joy to watch.
That is a braw beastie. Looks like a good JC cape you have there also. Merry Christmas
Thanks again Davie
Thanks for another great tying demonstration, and for another year of fly-tying inspiration. As has been the case for many, I’ve had a lot of time available for fly-tying the past couple years, and you’ve been my trusted guide throughout. As a result, my skill level has improved a lot.
(I also want to thank you for your soothing, encouraging voice. Yours are the only videos of any kind for which my wife asks me to turn the volume UP, hahaha.) Warm wishes for the holidays and for a healthy, happy 2022. Tight lines! - Bill in Seattle
Brilliant!!! Love the more complicated flies that you tie!
Very cool one. Will try for my display flies!
Now that's a very elegant pattern! Absolutely exquisite flytying! 👌
Amazing tie. First time seing three pairs of JC used like that. Can't wait for the next one. Merry Christmas !
Great video Dave! Merry Christmas to you and yours! From Idaho
Beautiful tie! Thank you for sharing.
A Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Very proffesional flytying 👍👍
Davie, you make this tie look easy. That said, I prefer a more sparsely tied spey fly. The schlappen presents a heavy appearance. Then again, what do I know? Makes a good leach pattern.
Class, watching the master at work 👌🎣🎣
Beautiful love the way it flows. 😁👍
Stunning and make it look so easy 👍
Beautiful fly. I’ve never seen one that uses 6 jungle cock eyes. You can’t afford to tie many of those. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful.
Merry Christmas mate
fantastic
Another marvel!🥇
I sometimes wonder if flies like this one are tied to attract fish or to attract fishermen! 😉
(Or, are they tied to challenge and amuse fly tyers?? Perhaps all three!) 👍👍
Amazing 👌
Nice 🎣👍
Hi Davie, another great video. I am planning my first salmon trip to Aldbar on the South Esk later in the year. I have never fished for Salmon before and have never tied any salmon flies. I have been advised that silver and black stouts and cascade are the best flies to take. I have ordered the materials for these flies but I am unsure what hooks to order. I am looking at size 8 and assumed they would be doubles. Can you advise what make and style of hooks to get and any other patterns that might work
Hi Ivan,
Here's a list of the most used doubles I have been asked to tye on...Fulling Mill Magni, Patriot by Partridge of Redditch, Loop Double by Loop and the Scandi Double by Veniards all are very good hooks and will serve you well..Good luck on your trip to the South Esk..I wouldn't leave home without a Gold Willie Gunn with a red head and a Blue Charm..
All the very best Davie..
Many thanks Davie, looks like I will be watching a Willie Gunn tying video.
Hey Davie! I love your videos, i have been looking for a new vise lately and i am wondering what vise you are using? Thanks!
Hi Freds Magets,
I use a Law but unfortunately it's no longer being made, there's many good vises out there but if you cam get to a fly fair/show to see the vises being used then it would help you make the right choice....I'm glad you enjoy the videos and thank you for the kind words...Merry Christmas and all the very best for 2022.
ATB Davie..
Nice!🔝🔝🎣🎣
Awesome Davie👌 how do you store and keep your Jungle Cock safe from critter's and the like? I have my Cape between sheets of foam, but I'm sure you have a far better option, cheers Davie👍
Hi dongil123,
I just keep them in the packet they come in and separate from the others just incase there's something in with it when I buy them though I always check the cape for any bugs as you should do with everything you have..Keeping them dry and clean helps too..I'm glad you enjoyed the video..
All the very best Davie
I tried it and came up with a passable Spey fly. Ran out of jungle cock eyes (hard to find in the US my experience) and didn’t have teal but had fun anyway!
Великолепно дружище 👍👍👍🤝🙋♂️
Класс!👍🤝🇰🇿
Маэстро!!!!
Браво ,Davi ! Сколько же такая красота стоит ?
Hi Юрий Кузнецов,
Buying the materials to tye the fly would cost you around £50 to £100 depending on the quality as you need good jungle cock feathers to get the good looking fly..
All the very best Davie
@@DavieMcPhail Where do you buy Jungle Cock necks at? I’ve checked Veniards, Cookshill, and Fulling Mill in Britain and none have it catalogued. Here in the USA it is only available from two sellers and one is a crook that everybody including myself has trouble with, and the other I’ve never dealt with. In other words I’ve only found one possibility. Would greatly appreciate your help Davie.
Hi Phil, I would email Cookshill and ask them to contact you when they get some in stock as I would trust them to help you though I would make sure he sends abroad which I think he does...Let me know how you get on and Merry Christmas..
All the very best Davie..
Thank you Yuri and Merry Christmas..All the very best Davie..
