To all the people who like to drop in on other people; one day it will not go your way. When you get your head cut open or lose an eye, you will have yourself to blame.
It’s unbelievable how people can’t grasp this simple etiquette. They don’t bother learning what peaks are, a left , a right, or the common sense etiquette of surfing. I’ve seen it all Over the place but nothing worse than in California.
Once in a lifetime. With such a strong offshore wind, it is amazing anyone could even catch these Florida monsters. Huge sets! Nice that some of these guys were up to it.
Dang! Good for y’all! I’m in Ft Pierce and you had it better than us for once lol 😂 wind hit us on east coast! Hurricane Lee delivered for us though! 😎🤙 for the dream boys, yeew!
@@gavinsoutherland7323 Yo! Gavin,y’all stay tuned plans in da works for a 585 million dollar surf park in Ft Pierce! Look up willow lakes. Literally 5 min from me! Let’s Go!!!! 😎🤙 y’all cmon down I got VRBO for ya HMU 🤙 yeew
Hurricane Camille Surfside beach Texas had 15' faces with sets producing 18' rogues. When you could go to the beach and not be road blocked like now. The jetty's were the way to get outside. Hiding from the breakers over the jetty and running between sets to the end. TxTiger68
I would've went for that left under the pier. That looked like it would've been clean. It also looked like there were a few people out there who were beginner/novice riders causing a lot of frustration in that lineup, including ole Baldy McBeergut dropping in on everyone.
Not true. Pcola gets chest to overhead after every single cold front blows through and the winds switches directions. We used to call this 6' back in the late 70s.
Great video!! Amazing sized waves. Def some BIG powerful 10+ footers. I love PB. It's funny how there are more salty surfers in the comments than in the video 🤣🤙.
On this day the Gulf Coast had the best waves in the USA. Groomed. Rippable. I'd have a hard time not being in the water. Reminds me of the time I surfed Hurricane Gabrielle at the 14th Street pier, long ago.
Ok, so I am stoked for those guys, but as a wake up call for those who might someday go somewhere with regular size thats basically head high. Super cool though for a place that is flat 99% of the time.
For us Old Dogs who surfed in Pensacola during the late 60s and early 70s - the Scott Bush, Yancy Spencer & Beaser Turner era, we look at this footage and grimace. The problem isn't with the surfers - though clearly there doesn't appear to be any Yancys, Beasers, or even Dirk and Kevin Woods, the problem is that the sandbar is gone. This was clearly a solid swell... it's just not breaking with any kind of power because the bar is gone.
some of the worst hurricane surf ive ever seen captured tbh man kooks after kooks on non barreling blown back waves. ive seen the west coast better at 4 feet
Great stuff! Looks like Huntington Pier on a 6' Winter day, minus the crowd.
Yea for sure, I was over there last winter for a while. Only saw a day or two that was like this
I lived in California from 1974-1993. These are every bit as good as a good day in California. Beautiful!!
Yes sir, I was in Huntington Beach all last winter there was one day I saw those comparable to this

Yea man, 110%

Well said
Know Da Rulez 🤬
By far the best surf I have seen captured in the Gulf.
Not one single wave shown was even close to 10ft. Nice waves for gulf coast but still 5 ft at best!
Probably abt 6 7 feet if you were to measure them at their peak but not 10
Once in a lifetime. With such a strong offshore wind, it is amazing anyone could even catch these Florida monsters. Huge sets! Nice that some of these guys were up to it.
Yea man we got really lucky. Best I’ve screen in 5 years. More than just a few, a lot of those dude came from the east coast 😂
This is amazing . I dream about being there some day. I am planning towards my dream. Thanks for the video
Yea ofc brother
No way Bells is bigger than Waimea, bro!!
It's the 50-year storm
Yea it for real was man 😂 everything was right where it needed to be
Those were NICE waves. Kinda surprised there weren’t more people out. That person on the longboard going down the face on their belly 😳🤦♀️
Dang! Good for y’all! I’m in Ft Pierce and you had it better than us for once lol 😂 wind hit us on east coast! Hurricane Lee delivered for us though! 😎🤙 for the dream boys, yeew!
Oh yea brother. FOR THA DREAM

Was definitely top 10 but Katrina swell was the measure. Had to jump off Navarre pier and paddle 50 yards south to get in the zone
I live in CC, Tx and I will agree that Katrina/Rita brought best waves, at least down here. Anyways, super good surf but not quite in 10 ft range.
Longboard ditched right in the takeoff zone over and over.... dangerous. Otherwise looks like a really fun sesh!!! Nice footage
Yea very. A lot of new surfers out there, I’m surprised I didn’t see anything else. Thx brother 🤙
Locals need to regulate.
If you you can’t surf right, go the hell down the beach.
Also looks like super clean conditions. Doesn’t look terrible on the paddle out but idk how windy it was or what the drift was like either.
It was like 13 out of the north, there was a current, but it wasn’t unbearable

Crazy, group surfing, Galveston. When it’s good over there it’s good
AWESOME, 2:25 mark was a long boarder, impressive
its obvious most of those gulf coast guys don't get a lot of big waves
Nooooo sir, golf is pretty much a big swimming pool if it’s over waist high that’s a big deal 😂
Great footage of surfing those waves…
Thx dude, definitely once every like 3 years we get something like that
Dude where Sterling Spencer? The most famous pro surfer that never had a pro career. Dude rips. Waves looking pretty fun.
YOU KNOW DA RULES (he doesn’t Surf when it’s over 4 feet)
Great footage...what a score !
Nice mushburgers
That's 4 foot in Hawaii. There are no 10 foot waves in this video.
Yea man, there was a few that were pushing 10 foot. This also isn’t Hawaii, most days here looks like a swimming pool 😂
I would've went for that left under the pier. That looked like it would've been clean. It also looked like there were a few people out there who were beginner/novice riders causing a lot of frustration in that lineup, including ole Baldy McBeergut dropping in on everyone.
Local boys must have been frothing. Pensacola is usually flat to tiny so a day like this is heaven sent.
Yea man, once a year it’s like this. normally not this big an clean tho
Not true. Pcola gets chest to overhead after every single cold front blows through and the winds switches directions. We used to call this 6' back in the late 70s.
Ormond had decent swell too. Not as big but 4-7ft. This weekend forecast looking just as nice out east here
Nice dude, enjoy it while it’s there
Great video!! Amazing sized waves. Def some BIG powerful 10+ footers. I love PB. It's funny how there are more salty surfers in the comments than in the video 🤣🤙.
Good footage Gavin. Is this just from standing on the pier? Looks so dreamy.
Yep, just on Pensacola pier

Yeah brother, a storm like this hits once every three years
Great video, Gavin (Brother Man)! hahaha
Hay thx Andy BROTHA MAN 😂
is Sterling Spencer out there?
YOU KNOW DE RULS (he doesn’t go out when it’s above waist high 😂) yea he was out there
3 to 5 foot gulf coast
YOU KNOW DA RULES!
I KNOW DA RULES!
This is the best I've ever seen the pier.
Been living in p-cola 7 years now. By FAR the best size to clean ratio
So many blundered waves, oh well
Not 10ft+, but legit, head to overhead hurricane surf nonetheless. Wish I was there!
Yea dude, surf line was saying 8-10. Still way above my pay grade 😂
Ok, so I am stoked for those guys, but as a wake up call for those who might someday go somewhere with regular size thats basically head high. Super cool though for a place that is flat 99% of the time.
10' to 10'+? Why didn't you get video of any of those waves?🤦
You may want to change the timestamp it's not July 30th but August 30th
Oh yea your 110% right, thx brother I’ll fix it 🤙

I think so
10'? LOL more like 4-5' mostly. Like sol cal 40 days a year. Looks fun.
Yeah man this is on the gulf in Florida. We see swells like this maybe once or twice a year for lucky
Waves looked good at Cocoa Beach this week! Have family there and check the cams. @@gavinsoutherland7323
They will never forget this day
damn. I had no idea. I would have made the drive from StA
not one tube had
Matanzas Inlet was pumping. Several days
Nice
Really? Great luck.
Does anybody know any.good spots on south florida ? Everyone is saying south beach sucks
Sometimes Deerfield Beach but your best off going up to Sebastian inlet.
@mikejackson8963 thanks, sorry for the typos unsure what happened there lol
7/30/23 and 10+ft....since the footage is good we'll let is slide. lol
Alabama point had the max swell
I don’t think you did brother I saw the videos from out there. It looks like it was really mushy
Gorgeous
gulf surfers not used to these waves--- Enjoy
Head High max.
most, there was a few that where pushing X2
5foot max...calling that 10ft is a total joke!
WHATTTTT they where pretty mellow but there where some 10+ foot bombs that rolled threw, most where around 5-8 tho
@@gavinsoutherland7323 Not even close to 10ft... totally laughing
10ft lol u mean 4-5ft
#kookfest
Very
East Coast surfers kind of suck :))but NOT all
just joking or am I 🤣
Great Vid 🖖🏼👽
Oh yea, then explain Kelly Slater 😂. Thx brother 🤙(plus I meet like 3 guys from the east coast who came for this surf)
It's the gulf coast not the east coast.
Plus yea, Pensacola. Farthest west you can go in the state of Florida pretty much
I thought they did really well considering how rare it is to see waves of that size.
some of the worst hurricane surf ive ever seen captured tbh man kooks after kooks on non barreling blown back waves. ive seen the west coast better at 4 feet
Yea but this is not the west cost. Most days here in p-cola loop like a swimming pool, it’s the gulf
So many wasted waves...

Very
Barney town USA
More like 4-6'
Most the sets where like 6, But where where a few 8-10ft
