Nice one. I just did this today, but stuffed up the splicing because the rope separated into lots of frays. Ended up just duct taping it.

Do the spacing dimensions given here work well for aluminium 80s?
Hi, I don't have an ali80 to test it on, The 12L steel tank is 178 mm/7in dia & the aluminium 80 is 184.2 mm/7.25 in so given the small difference in diameter they should be fine. The tank racks have a bit of give & take.
