Not the Navy Seals, SERE, which stands for Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape. It's the school they send pilots Navy and Marines to for training how to resist torture and capture.
Even if this wasn't a sequel, just the idea of revisiting a world thirty years after a zombie apocalypse sounds fascinating. It's like Zombieland 2 on a much bigger scale.
Some discussions I've read suggest that the end of 28 months might be retconned and thus England might be devastated but the rest of the world is "normal" which would be even more interesting.
Jim was Cillian Murphy's character in the original. So with Jimmy everywhere and that crazy cheekbone mask, I think we're dealing with a Cillian Murphy cult
Somehow it hadn’t occurred to me that cult Jimmy and Cillian Jimmy could be the same and now I’m intrigued and also feel dumb for not thinking of it lmao
I didn't even realize this movie was coming out, so when James was talking about watching the trailer, I thought, "let me go watch it full-screen first," and paused the video. Then, when I came back and hit play, an ad came up. The ad was the 28 Years Later trailer...
And it invokes 2 different things. What I got was that it was read to be from the POV of someone in the war, endlessly marching and going mad from the uncertainty and monotony. But due to how its read, I can also see the argument for it being the POV of someone slowly transitioning from infection, reciting it calmly, then a bit more feeling and then finally, a full blown rage. Its was an excellent choice for the backround audio.
Here's a another fun fact for you. When properly recited (the first 4 words of each line, at 2 words per second) it gives you the marching pace of a British infantry soldier during the Boer war.
Yeah, it also gives off vibes of a soldier stuck in a trench in WW1, or even a French soldier in the battle of Verdun, with all the artillery booming over head, nonstop.
This is what Ralph Fiennes recently said, "Britain is 28 years into this terrible plague of infected people who are violent, rabid humans with a few pockets of uninfected communities. And it centers on a young boy who wants to find a doctor to help his dying mother. He leads his mother through this beautiful northern English terrain. But of course, around them hiding in forests and hills and woods are the infected. But he finds a doctor who is a man we might think is going to be weird and odd, but actually is a force for good." I think Ralph Fiennes will be the "weird and odd" doctor. I also speculate there's going to be three different plots consisting of Jodie Comer's character with her son, Aaron Taylors Johnson's character with the little boy, and the soldier seen throughout the trailer. Eventually, their stories will intersect
I wonder who Jimmy is, I thought one of the blond kids at the start, or maybe Jimmy is Jim from 28 days later? the cult angle must be strong, are they being led by intelligent infected?

Kiplings “boots” was an amazing touch to this trailer! I had a friend use the Holmes recording of “boots” as a psychology presentation years ago. He broke down how the grainy, and almost monotonous inflection in the speaking, that slowly delves into painful screaming by Holmes acts on the limbic system of the brain producing that feeling of anxiety, and the feeling of uncertainty. THANK YOU CHELSEA! I wasn’t a film major in college but took an “art of film” class and the professor played a UA-cam video called “every movie trailer ever” and it pointed out how they all use a slowed down cover of a popular song and I can’t unnoticed it. It’s why good trailers like this are so amazing and noticeable compared to whatever average derivative trailer released before it.
so happy this is happening. It was hinted at and talked about for over a 15 years and never made official. Then Danny Boyle started saying he wanted to make another and was writing it and now we are finally in a timeline where we are revisiting this franchise. This movie just jumped to my most anticipated of 2025
I have a brother in the military, he introduced me to 28 Days Later and used to tease and scare me with the last few seconds of its original trailer, of the infected soldier in the rain bursting through the glass window. YIKES! lol I have since seen the film countless times during college and I love it to this day. When the 28 Years Later teaser dropped and I told him about it, he was surprised to learn that “Boots” being played on a loop so often during his SERE training was actually part of the training after I told him about the trailer and the facts about the poem I learned. He thought the poem recording was a hazing ritual by his superiors all these years, just effing with them
I actually think counselor would probably be an extremely important job. In situations like this, morale makes or breaks a society. Being able to keep spirits up, provide encouragement, and foster a sense of community would be critical. It’s why even primitive humans had shamans and spiritual leaders. It serves a very real purpose.
This wad really cool, would love to see you two reacting to other big horror trailers like this I. The future. Seeing James react to then on the News streams is great, but having you two bounce off each other is better!
The fact that 28 days is one of my favourite horror movies (and one of my favourite movies in general) and this sequel will be coming out in my 23rd birthday gets me hyped beyond any other level!! Especially after such an incredible gripping trailer! (yes I was 5 months old when the first one came out 😅😅)
28 years later, if it’s continuity is tied in from the first two films (absolutely the first, obviously) has a fair few questions to answer: 1) What happens to both Jim, Selina and Hannah from the first movie? Rescued by NATO forces or killed off? 2) What happens to Tammy & Andy from 28 Weeks Later? Did they successfully escape to Western Europe? 3) What becomes of continental Europe? Dialogue aside from Selina’s brief comment about reports of it being in NYC, the ending shot of the infected in Weeks Later running through the Chanel Tunnel out into the Paris Metro raises the stakes. I’m sure there’s more stones left turned, to be unturned soon.
Jimmy. Did we forget Cillian Murphy’s character in the first movie is named Jim? I feel like they’re not going to reuse that name without it meaning something.
There are two characters named Jim/Jimmy (the mother at the beginning of the trailer says "Wait here Jimmy" so it's safe to say at least one of the children survive). Tho given the cheekbones on that cultist mask, it's probably Our Jimmy.
The vinyl comes through in the audio and it scares me cause like James says, Its a sign of regression. The infection was so catastrophic that we regressed decades that we works so tirelessly to build up and turn it into the new normal. The counting also makes me very anxious like im winding up a jack in the box, waiting for it to pop and it also oddly sounds like someone counting.. something awful next to me.. bodies maybe, dead or alive.. the poem is truly an artist stroke of genius. Im just as nervous as someone in that world would be and its all due to this poem and how it causes your brain to fret and fear with its aggressive repetition. The over and over sounds like gears in a machine to me, clanking and grinding as they whirl in your ears like a heart beat.. I also like that they use bow and arrows instead of guns for the main two! It makes sense that bullets and functioning guns would be incredibly rare after 30 years of infected and bad people so them having to make their own weapons to use also adds to the fear and realism to me. The stakes are real and the movie already feels more real than I expected! Im truly excited! I hope the movie lives up to this trailer, it was a very good trailer! Its practically a short film on its own!
This trailer has me so pumped for this movie!!! Also I love this kind of video, idk if you guys have done a video like this before, but it was very fun to watch and hear your opinions on the trailer. Helps to build up the excitement even more.
I had my doubts but the trailer feels extremely unsettling and sinister which I feel is incredibly hard to do for a zombie movie. This looks great! Still hard to believe this was shot on an iphone
I did not expect a Dead Meat Trailer breakdown but I loved this video so much, I like all the background info that recording audio was really unsettling and I had assumed it was a Military related thing but it being used in the US Military is wild Also for me this movie coming out next year is perfectly timed because I'm turning 28 next year in March so by the time this is out I'll be 28 which is kind of cool Anyway I hope we get more videos like this from Dead Meat I love to get James and Chelseas thoughts on the trailers
I personally think the "JIMMY" you see throughout the trailer is referencing "Jimmy Ink" played by Erin Kellyman according to IMDB. She's a young mixed girl, so my guess is that Jim and Selena had a kid during the time between 28 Days and Years. I'm also assuming they leave the settlement because they've probably been tasked as being hunters. There's a second film already being done called 28 Years Later Part 2: The Bone Temple so that's gotta be where we see them in the trailer. I'm so unbelievably hyped for this movie, 28 Days changed my life as an 11 year old when it came out lol
On the casting it does say Cilian Murphy will play ‘Jim’ and Erin Kellyman plays ‘Jimmy Ink’, Murphy’s role is not as a main character clearly but perhaps maybe what this cult society revolves around? I wouldn’t be surprised if the person behind the mask is played by Erin Kellyman, very good British actress who’s played villains in Solo and Falcon and Winter Soldier and also done a lot of smaller supporting roles in British films
After watching the trailer, it almost seems like maybe some of the infected now have higher level intelligence. There’s a long haired Infected in several scenes (tree line, standing still, carved up skin of back rising from the ground, chase scene, and looks like similar type of build skin chasing in the water scene). Find it interesting that the trailer chose to zoom in on the chest chasing them to not give away the face, maybe that’s Cillian? Or maybe just saving the zombies look for the film
I can't wait to see this. It is one movie that my husband will watch with me, he loved the original and purchased and loved the sequel, so this is one film for both of us.
I lived around an hour or 2 away from where I think this film takes place, Holy Island (With its single road connecting it to the mainland thats often swallowed up by the sea in high tide) and I'd visit it often on school trips when I was a kid. Seeing a place that seemed so familiar be twisted in this way is really unnerving. This film is really gonna be hype
A few things i noticed/ thought about watching the trailer: 1) it has a similar film grainy-ness to it that feels very similar to 28 Days later 2) a lot of people are saying “how can there still be zombies 28 years removed from the inciting incident if they eventually rot and wither away?”. I think it could just be how society progressed in the intervening years; having babies and growing up, only to have settlements scatter and get infected, rinsing and repeating for almost 30 years. 3) this looks sick as hell, and i can’t wait to see it come summer of next year 😊
Also 28 weeks later established that people can be asymptomatic but still spread the virus. Behold. An explanation. …Hell, I bet that's where the infection is evolving. In people who are infected but keep their minds.
In the very first scene, when the woman brings a kid into the room, the boy in the room says, "Auntie, what's going on?" To which she replies, "Jimmy, sit still, keep quiet, and do not move from this spot." I think it's much more likely that that kid is the Jimmy in the rest of the trailer and not Cillian Murphy. Since Jimmy seems like he's going to be the main antagonist in the movie, it would make more sense plot-wise for them to bring us back to 2002 so we could see his origins. But I guess we'll find out for sure in June!
The fact that the poem they use in the trailer is also used to simulate psychological torture for Navy Seal trainees is haunting... and metal as fuck!
I watched the trailer right after waking up and the poem freaked me out

2:28 whatever is going on right here is frightening. I can’t tell if that still one is the 8ft tall dude but I do not like how he isn’t moving
I usually try not to watch videos like this because I don’t want to hype myself up too much for movies, but I’ll sure as hell watch you guys do this one!
Did anyone else notice at 1:32 the kid’s name was Jimmy, and the name “Jimmy” is seen written a lot throughout parts of the trailer? Spooky zombie cult stuff, you love to see it
The movie synopsis mention the main cast leave the island into the mainland and discover horrors there so I think part of the movie doesn't take place solely on the island.
Its clear they discover something likely evolved infected who are intelligent, considering were getting another movie right after this one, im guessing itll be a two parter
The yellow drawing making this feel like a horror movie version of Inside the NFL lmao
Cillian Murphys character is named Jim he could be the Jimmy that the trailer leaves clues about.
The mask also reminds me a lot of Murphy’s aggressive cheekbones.
he’s not, iMBD says that there is a new character named Jimmy where cillians character is labeled just Jim
Jimmy is the name of the kid at the start!
It’s not. It’s the lil boy from the beginning. The mother calls him jimmy.
Interesting enough he could be the lil boy that was with the mother in 28 weeks later.
@@BBULLSHlTI think that child is Aaron Taylor-Johnson's character.
He might be immune, which is why he might survive the infected attack on the house, and eventually leave the community 28 years later. That's all theory though.
In the movie Zombie, directed by Lucio Fulci.
There's a zombie underwater being attacked by a shark, the zombie actually takes a bite of the shark.
It's one of my favorite zombie movies ever.
That pile of skulls is presumably a part of the "Bone Temple", which is the title of the next film.
I heard that
so theres a 4th already lined up?
Best Zombie movie moment ever is the Cillian Murphy reveal near the end where you're unsure if he's been turned.... Nope just pissed.
You’re never supposed to think he was turned as an audience member, I’m pretty sure. He was shown hiding in the rooftops and letting the chained dude loose
Absolutely cannot wait for this. I had 28 days later on DVD sent from TX so I could have it! Love this series. I didn't mind 28weeks
There's also going to be a sequel pretty much as soon as it's released
Yeah I heard that, something about the bone temple.
The audio also reminds me of shortwave numbers stations. The audio from The Conet Project is similarly eerie. Love that terrifying poem read.
Bro!!!!! how did I get the trailer for 28 Years Later… as an ad… ON THIS VERY VIDEO!!!?????
so happy this is happening. It was hinted at and talked about for over a 15 years and never made official. Then Danny Boyle started saying he wanted to make another and was writing it and now we are finally in a timeline where we are revisiting this franchise. This movie just jumped to my most anticipated of 2025
The audio is insane and reminds me of the radio on the bus of saints and sinners vr game.
Oh shoot that’s right!! Damn that’s so true. I bet you they heavily borrowed from that game.
He thought the poem recording was a hazing ritual by his superiors all these years, just effing with them
Love this new format. Really excited for all the different new stuff on Presents
I've been showing this trailer to every single person I can. Absolutely insane trailer. *BOOTS. BOOTS. BOOTS. BOOTS.*
(yes I was 5 months old when the first one came out 😅😅)
28 years later, if it’s continuity is tied in from the first two films (absolutely the first, obviously) has a fair few questions to answer:
1) What happens to both Jim, Selina and Hannah from the first movie? Rescued by NATO forces or killed off?
2) What happens to Tammy & Andy from 28 Weeks Later? Did they successfully escape to Western Europe?
3) What becomes of continental Europe? Dialogue aside from Selina’s brief comment about reports of it being in NYC, the ending shot of the infected in Weeks Later running through the Chanel Tunnel out into the Paris Metro raises the stakes.
I’m sure there’s more stones left turned, to be unturned soon.
I think Jimmy is the big guy infected carrier guy and people have been sacrificing humans to 'Jimmy' as a kind of treaty.
The bone temple (pt 2) was filmed 15 miles away from me at Plankey Mill, Northumberland, England. So excited to see this 👍😊🐾💜
Please more trailer break downs! Thank you this was fantastic as always
I dont know what we did to get a Dead Meat trailer breakdown but I'm so happy to get one, especially for this trailer.
Oh my god thank you for mentioning the scumps song! Nobody ever remembers that scene.
9:26 You dare question the words of the mighty JIMMY!
I immediately thought the same thing 😭 "this says the bibble"
1) More of this please!
2) So we're just not going to talk about the massive and jacked infected!?!
I had my doubts but the trailer feels extremely unsettling and sinister which I feel is incredibly hard to do for a zombie movie. This looks great! Still hard to believe this was shot on an iphone
7:30 they kinds do in the 2nd movie “28 weeks later” in the opening sequence, tho the water was kinda shallow
As someone who has been around since the DD days with you two that scrumps call back was so fun!!
What's scarier than a rage virus... TELETUBBIES!
I did not expect a Dead Meat Trailer breakdown but I loved this video so much, I like all the background info that recording audio was really unsettling and I had assumed it was a Military related thing but it being used in the US Military is wild
Also for me this movie coming out next year is perfectly timed because I'm turning 28 next year in March so by the time this is out I'll be 28 which is kind of cool
Anyway I hope we get more videos like this from Dead Meat I love to get James and Chelseas thoughts on the trailers
I love this! Would be great to see you guys review more trailers!
Yes! The use of a telestrator is such a cool idea! Loved this, and would love for you to do more of these!
Yessss glad yall did this! Definitely do more of these!
The Boots poem in the trailer score is so scary. Something about the repetition. I found the complete lyric video on YT. Worth a read/listen. 😬
They actually filmed some of it about 10 minutes from where I live. Can't wait to see what the location was used for
Glad you both took a bit of a deeper look into this trailer! I definitely need to rewatch the first two films
great review of the trailer and one of my favorite directors and his team. I've subbed
I'd happily watch a TV show of the 28 franchise
Definitely will involve a flashback to the infection day, as we see the priest from the first film.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson is gonna need 28 Years Later after Kraven The Hunter! This movie looks amazing!
kraven nosferatu and now this. aaron taylor johsons agent was going crazy in the lab
And probly James bond since ATJ is a possible candidate for the role
Nice to see the trailer reacts. Enjoyed this one with the anti war Poem in the background. High hopes for this flick.
A few things i noticed/ thought about watching the trailer:
1) it has a similar film grainy-ness to it that feels very similar to 28 Days later
2) a lot of people are saying “how can there still be zombies 28 years removed from the inciting incident if they eventually rot and wither away?”.
I'm super excited to see this! I hope it's as great as the first 2 & doesn't go too far off the rails.
They are so cute together. I love seeing James and Chelsea passionately talk about films ❤
Sweet Molly pup is the sweetest baby girl!! It was adorable seeing her cuddle up to Chelsea.
In the very first scene, when the woman brings a kid into the room, the boy in the room says, "Auntie, what's going on?"
To which she replies, "Jimmy, sit still, keep quiet, and do not move from this spot."
I think it's much more likely that that kid is the Jimmy in the rest of the trailer and not Cillian Murphy.
Since Jimmy seems like he's going to be the main antagonist in the movie, it would make more sense plot-wise for them to bring us back to 2002 so we could see his origins. But I guess we'll find out for sure in June!
Rating this as the leading theory
I love how James felt the need to point out every Teletubbie one by one lmao.
You and New Rockstars are my favorite channels on UA-cam so you doing a breakdown vid feels right 😂 please do more if you can fit them in the schedule
Loved how this trailer was edited, perfectly done. Can’t wait for this movie to release.
I do this on my own now but don’t have the trained eye and knowledge of you guys so I am VERY excited for more of these!
oooh thats a nice format, Dead Meat Presents is delivering! Love you guys.
16:31 littel baby with that tiny sweater, so precious
Great breakdown, guys; thanks! And we GOTTA show some appreciation to Molly in her lil pink jammies!
