The fabulous VOCES8 & Ringmasters perform Blake Morgan's arrangement of Shall We Gather By The River? 😄 Only Ringmasters are transcribed - you're not going to see me fit 8 more staves on one screen!
Are you related to the musician Jacob Collier or what?
look at the description and you'll have your answer@@leif1075

Oh man I wish you would transcribe the whole song, Voces8 and Ringmasters included. This is sooo damn good
Thanks for sharing this George! This could be a good show stopper on quartet+chamber choir shows. Too few of those happening at the moment. But our collaboration will generate more arrangements and compositions like this SSAATTBB+TTBB-version. Could possibly shorten the gap between the Barbershop and classical choir world. And it will benefit all cause it's so dang fun!
Baritones go hard!! Love your stuff Ringmasters, and this sounded great. I wasn't going to do choir for my first semester in college, but now you're making me rethink that lol
VOCES8 does such good. Not only do they harmonize like nobody’s business and offer their own performances for our enjoyment, but they also teach and train.
Love these people.
Have you heard their version of Elgar’s ‘Nimrod’ variation? Our conductor showed us, and it had the orchestra in tears. So beautiful
Damn man, Paul Rudd was really going for it at the end there
0:07 this chord is absolutely beautiful
Rumour has it Ringmasters only agreed to perform if the arrangement included a barbershop chord.
I'm personally a bigger fan of that dissonant beast at 0:22 at "gather"
Sounds like moon river
That combined with the one that follow it are amazing
Exactly!!!
I'm an atheist but gospel and hymnals still deeply move me
I'm a christian but heretic music still deeply moves me
(im not christian)
@@douwemusic 🤣🤣
Really? Atheists get moved by stuff? But, you don't believe in anything?! /s
Lol same
Same
I love when those lower notes come in at 0:40 to round everything out
really reminds me of the end of the "Jacob Collier - Moon River"
0:42 Not only are they singing an almost justly tuned major chord, but this and the acoustics made such rich harmonics pop out!! I became absolutely speechless when the 6th harmonic (close to a major 9th) popped up here with such clarity…
For real sounded like trumpets from heaven way up on that note lol
Oh no, that's not 9th popping out, one of the members of Voces8 is singing that F6. She's just blending it really well with the group so it's just a dash of an extra color.
That ending harmony and high note made me tear up.
My life changed ever since I discovered barbershop, the Ringmasters and choral music from your transcriptions about 3 weeks ago. Glad to see this transcription and I hope more people will find this side of music interesting
It's unbelievable seeing those two groups performing together. Thanks for the transcription as always!
Going to give the River a complex with all the hype from this song
How's nobody highlighting the chord right at 0:16? It's plain beautiful
I know right
I was in a choir for 4 years, every year of high school, and the absolute CONFIDENCE that these people have in just this one clip is more than we had all four of those year combined, I want to be in a choir as beautiful and confident as this one..... I need to join a choir again, it's been too long
That Bb from jacob at 0:20 is so smooth and incredible!
It pumps the happy chemicals straight into my spine, it's a great note.
MY GOD! That was absolutely beautiful!! WOW!!
the way the lower notes come in at 00:40 is amazing 😭
I hope that barbershop harmony will be more and more intertwined with European choir culture in the upcoming years. I have been working on SATB + TTBB arrangements for 2 years and the result is way better than I expected. Lots of loves from Barbershop Istanbul!
Life is worth living because of music like this.
Gorgeous
I feel like my ears have just been blessed
I remember singing with them when they came to San Francisco a few years ago. It was an unforgettable experience!
last part almost made me cry, had the nastiest stank face. holy shit
Heaven would have Martin singing bass
Aren't a lot of notes missing from the score/transcription? especially in the second half of the video
It's missing the female parts, maybe he cut the images like that by mistake
only ringmasters are transcribed as not everyone would fit on the screen :)
It's only tenor and baritone, no bass or women voices.
@@GeorgeCollieryeah. I was hoping to see all 12 parts. You could fit it on 3 or 4 staffs. But it would look messy and cramped. Thanks for another great video.
I want a full transcription of all the parts because this is just, wow
Me too. I’d just love to really poke through some of the chords that I can’t determine by ear…
Ringmasters never disappoint
Thanks a million for sharing all these fantastic clips! They're incredibly diverse and mind-blowingly good! 😍
Yes, please do gather at the river next time.
When the A natural resolves in the last chord my entire being experienced it!
We need a full transcription with each part please
I can't stop listening to that performance!!
It's beautiful!
not enough eyebrow raises and mouths opened to 110%
So heart wrenchingly beautiful. I love both of these groups.
Biblically acurate THX sound effect
0:09 most beautiful chord
Man I bet VOCES8 and Ringmasters had a busy time deciding how they were gonna blend. Barbershop blending and choral blending are two different games, but they pulled it off.
I love the major six and major two chords in major; elevated brightness to the high heavens!
Yes, I would say. We all shall gather at the river. God bless🙏
Heard Ringmasters & VOCES8 live in Stockholm not that long ago.
Yepp. That is what heaven sounds like.
Sounds incredible, though I think you left out the bass/bari line coming in at the end (pretty sure it's just Eb/G)
Total goosebumps listening to this. Beautiful!!!
Dat spicy A natural at the end
Full body goosebumps and watering eyes, that was fantastic
The harmony blows me away
First time George doesn't use the word 'Heaven' only for Laufey
i heard this and wondered if you'd transcribe it. truly beautiful 🥰
finally voces8 get a video
their blend is heavenly
Incredible overtones!!
0:05 “the saints” MMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ATTENTION THIS CHORD IS OMEGA YEAHHHHHHHH
To whomever held that fermata I feel deep respect. ✊🏾
I can’t be the only one who wants a part 2 to this video with the rest of the parts
Lord it sounds so mastered...
chills
Goosebumps ❤
amo este canal
amo a ese coro
I’m singing this piece in my choir and we’ve done a lot of other pieces made by voces8 and Eric
It better be or I’m not going.
Naw...we finna gather at the beach this time.
I never even thought about what the possibilities of vocal harmony were. Then I watched this video. It's like going your whole life thinking USDA Prime is as good as steak gets, and then one day trying A5.
Never has a thumbnail been more misleading. I thought the guy was belting out a Rugby club song with his mates
Voces8 is my favorite vocal ensemble.
The thumbnail almost looked like Paul Rudd playing drums in Ant-Man
Nothing beats the Stacey Gibbs arrangement of this song!
The guy at :35 was on the notification I got, and I thought it was Paul Rudd
Babe wake up new transcription
Did anyone else see the guy and think it was Paul Rudd on the thumbnail?
Yes
Ringmasters are absolute masters - I always click when I see a new video, no hesitation
To answer your question George, yes, this is what heaven sounds like.
0:21 The transcription is nice. They do close that "throne of" phrase while the other overlaps! What tool do you use for sheet music?
Blake definitely stole that last chord from Westminster chorus’s bridge over troubled water😂
why do they all look so smug
When you're that good...
0:09 this chord is so perfect 😭
My favorite of the entire song
This is what earth sounds like. There is no heaven.
im just yawning guys just yawning
Ooh that last chord 🤌
I though Paul Rudd was on the thumbnail. 😭
@GeorgeCollier VOCES8 also did The Lost Birds with Christopher Tin if you wanna post a transcription video for that. Chris also just posted a rehearsal video if you wanna take a snippet of that and put it on here
I’ve been to heaven and I can confirm it’s nowhere near as dope as this
Well, hi Voces8, didn't expect to find them on this channel 😊
take a shot every time george posts a video with "heaven" in the title
No, this is what humans at the peak of their ability sound like
Scandinavians do shit so right. Would have never thought they'd be my favorite barber shop/ acappella sound
If this is what it sounds like I'm taking the other door.
Bye bye then
Bye bye then
What the??? I thought I was going to see Paul Rudd Sing…
That's not Laufey!
Thanks for the transcription, this is absolutly Amazing !
Do you think you can post somewhere the whole transcription ?
Did anyone else think that was Pual Rudd?
Haha wait, I kind of did and didn't😆
Last chord I'm pretty sure is the same as the last chord from Jacob Collier's rendition of Moon River
The sound of heaven is apparently sung by the smuggest people on earth.
Paul Rudd??
goosebumps!! ♥
Hello everyone and welcome to your daily dose of music
Where do you get that stuff it’s unbelievable
This is voices?!
the 1st tenor????? he popped off
Good god, quiet down.
I hope.
