She was playing equally as horrible when she came into games afterwords. Without her 3 point shooting, she’s an offensive and defensive liability period. @@masonpalazzolo2387 regardless of what everyone in indiana thinks, nalyssa is a good solid player. she and boston were picked the last couple years for a system that has clearly changed now that caitlin is there. i trust that a lot of fever fans will be wondering (when they see her thrive on another team) why she couldnt do that in indy. its got nothing to do with dijonai. those 2 have been together for several seasons and its never been a problem. nalyssa is not a good fit for whatever direction the fever are going. glad to see them part ways amicably.

It’s the responsibility of the GM. She is a post player and was drafted as such. Then they drafted the best player in the draft who happened to be Aliyah Boston who is a better post player. Then Clark falls into their lap and that’s an entirely different type of ball. Boston has adapted. Smith hasn’t.

Nalyssa Smith needs to go because she reduced her playing energy in the playoffs basically helping her partner on the opposite team over the Fever.
You can not give your all if your partner is on the other team. So the Fever need to send her away for Caitlin's sake.

I agree. CC should be the focal point. It must have been hard for her teammates to accept a rookie as a leader. She has proved her worth tenfold and some players still can't accept the change.

Have to 🤣 at the people who tried to justify keeping or playing Nalyssa earlier in the season because she was a POTENTIALLY a good player.Talent means nothing if it poisons team morale, even subtlely. No team can afford to have an enemy within situation. Christie Sides didn't think she had to deal with the problem early on. It came back to bite her when the team needed everyone to be 100% committed.
Her relationship with other team affected the game in negative way......
She only played 4 minutes in game 2. 8 minutes in game 1.
Nylssa is a pretty awful player but they didn’t lose because of her.

Just priorities. Nalyssa prioritized her personal relationship over the team. Not really her fault. Christie Sides was just clueless. She gambled thinking that it wouldn't affect the team so she kept Nalyssa in the starting rotation as long as possible. It came back to bite her in the a** during the playoffs when the Fever needed everyone to show up.

Temi is a much better all around player than Smith. It isn't that Nalyssa doesn't have the tools to be a good player, she just doesn't take pride in her craft to the level that is needed to be a great pro. Maybe her brother could help his sister learn how to defend, learn how to shoot a mid range pull up. Smith needs to play for a coach she respects and she needs to look within if she wants to reach her full potential.

I would be very surprised if ANY team wants smith to be on theirs. Smith can’t play professional. It’s a guarantee that if that team plays the sun that smith will let her lover score at will against her. No team wants to have a 4 on 6 game like the Fever had to put up with this year.
smith was never guarding dj. indiana beat the sun with smith starting the only time this season. the sun didn't have a problem with the relationship and they won the series.
Temi has something Smith lacks... Loyalty.. rather rely on temi than Smith, she left before being pushed...
An idea to keep the income stream moving would be the equivalent of baseball's hot stove league. During the offseason, they talk about things that could affect the team. E.g.:
Who are the available coaches that could improve the team? Is it possible they will keep Sides and hire an excellent defensive assistant coach? Are there any NBA or Euro-league coaches available? What free agents are available? Anyone from the Euro-league to poach? Any ideas on the upcoming draft? What about moving up to get Dominique Malonga? Now, Malonga is a raw talent with huge upside, but what about the downside? For instance, Mouhamed Sene was the 10th pick by the Seattle Sonics in 2006 because he was a great athlete. In workouts, he was incredibly proficient at blocking shots. But he never really worked out in the NBA. I think Malonga is more polished than Sene, but the risk is real. So I guess I think that Indiana basketball will remain a topic of interest. But Clark out of the limelight is going to keep Swoopes from sticking her foot into her mouth and making planet earth roll their eyes.
If Temi isn't good enough to start what does that say about nalyssa?

I get talking about CC she’s generational stuck in the worst league in sports. After that tho I wish the WNBA receives no media attention they don’t deserve it. With CC gone I hope the viewership just tanks. CC is the wnba plain and simple.
If Smith's girlfriend and brother had any respect for her at all they wouldn't be posting things that are likely to put Smith in an uncomfortable position of having to answer for it.
I do wonder if Samuelson and Smith are completely hopeless. Smith as shown in the past that she can contribute and be an asset, and Samuelson did the same much longer ago. They've had to live under a bad coach, and I know that others have thrived despite that, but some players need to be handled the right way by a coach that can get them going. Given that Samuelson is still under contract for next year, I hope she goes into the offseason determined to bring her game back so she can make a positive contribution next year. If the Fever get a new coach and they get a good one, maybe that person can light a fire under Smith and turn her around. It may seem like wishful thinking, but players have turned it around before with the right coaching and mentorship. Samuelson just needs to work real hard on her game. Smith seems to need someone who can help her find herself and motivate her and put her in a position to succeed. I can't imagine Smith playing like she did this year if she had Lisa Bluder as a coach.
Nalyssa Smiths brother is known for two things:
1) Being a sandwich artist at Subway
2) Not having his own name because he’s even less important than his mediocre sister in the world

Temi was humiliated in two games. This game was a game for the big, strong girls. Leaving Smith on the bench certainly cost him the classification. But the death knell was the Sun observing that CC is terrible at defending. It was precisely a 3-point ball from CC that killed this game.

I saw Katie Lou talking about what a difficult year this has been for her. She didn't say why, but it's clear she has known some struggles, maybe just as a new mom, or health issues related to that? But the other side would be her emergence from that year. If she is still with the Fever next year, she has 8 months to get her mojo back, and I suspect she will be better. Maybe not worth max contract, but better. She seems like she is committed to team concepts. Certainly only parents of the very young know the exhaustion of that situation.
I wonder if the Sky are trying to beat the Fever to the next coach. They sabotaged the Fever this year already. Any thoughts Mick? I really hope Sides is gone.
