- Filmed on 22/09/2021. Since we are in the Westcountry, we decided for the very first time to visit Cardiff. And our first station of the day is Cardiff Central (Season 8 Episode 39)
The home of Transport For Wales territory linking the Valley Lines, South Wales branch lines, Birmingham, Manchester and recent re introduction of the 2 hourly services running between Cardiff Central and Holyhead. The electrified overhead lines ends here meaning for the GWR IET services to switch to bio diesel mode to continue to Swansea. GWR also runs their Castle Sets to and from Cardiff to either Taunton or daily trips to Penzance.
Transport For Wales also introduced a 'first' of the recycled trains. Ex Thameslink class 319's has been converted to the bio diesel class 769's which has 2 diesel engines at each end of the train. These can also be seen working on the Valley Lines. These are the replacements for the now retired class 142 & 143 Pacer buses which most has been preserved.

A trip to Cardiff is very much in the future, very much so! But man, double 153s to Man Pic, lemme have some of that
153's are becoming ever more popular on Manchester Piccadilly to Milford Haven/Carmarthen diagrams.

@@RickyNowis yes the sky-line has changed a lot...tall buildings, overhead catenary etc, but the station itself has changed very little - still got that classic GWR feel about it 😄👍🏽
