It also would have been in a game in the 5th tier at best (no idea where they played at the time, but not in any of the top 4 divisions), so nothing else about the game would have gotten any nationwide attention. Best guess is that it's been part of the local lore for the past 60 years, and someone with connections to whichever British website posted it first visited one of the clubs a few years ago. Funny how these things can go.

It may happened, may not. Only way to find out is calling the clubs or asking the local archives though.
