You inspired me. I just recently made myself an apron (something that has been on my to do list for this entire year!), and I've been wanting to make myself some skirts. Like you, I often wear shorts in the summer but I want to get back to wearing more skirts and dresses. Something else I was thinking as I was watching is how so much of what I do is so temporary. Food preparation...has to be done every day....dishes, laundry, etc. I really do need to do things on a regular basis that are more lasting, and some of them that benefit just me. It isn't selfish but sometimes it feels like it.
I totally agree with you and feel the same. The work just keeps going and going. Doing a meaningful project that is lasting, whether it be an apron, or a painting you can proudly hang on your wall. Whatever it is that makes you feel an inner accomplishment, will have a lasting effect! Every time you wear that apron, you will be so happy and proud! I’m so glad you made time for yourself to do that! It was the same for me with these skirts. That’s also why I tried to do so many at once. I knew I might not get another chance for several months 😀
Yes!! So important! My husband encourages me to keep doing things I love. I’m so glad he does. Homemaking can take all of our time, but it’s important to take care of our inner selves ❤️
I luv all your skirts! They re so pretty ! You did a wonderful job making them! Your channel gives me so much hope and inspiration! Thank u for all u share!
Suzanne, you look so beautiful in your skirt outfits..so country chic!! I love the flower dress with the spaghetti straps and you wore it over a white tank..I want one of those outfits 😊. But really the lavender skirt and white top you wore as you picked lavender and white lilacs just melted my heart. I love being in your world for those few minutes as I watch your videos. You are so talented, and you are so skilled. You inspire me to want to do more. I've been doing pencil sketching and some watercolor. It's coming along, but I need to make more time for it. Your ideas about time management help a lot. Thank you so much.
A very heartfelt thank you Roberta! ❤️❤️❤️ Country Chic…. I love that! I never would have thought of that, but I love it! I used to do art, before we got really into farming. I did a lot of painting! Acrylics, watercolour and pencil crayons. I still have a good amount of art supplies tucked away. Life just got so busy and so full. It can be hard to pick something back up. But my beloved art supplies are patiently waiting for one day😌. I really hope you have fun with your sketching and watercolour! It can be such a relaxing and therapeutic way to spend time. 😊
Thank you for the inspiration and encouragement! I have more time available than ever but I'm not using it in the most creative ways. You've motivated me to use my talents more and to try to make some skirts of my own.
You are so talented at sewing! Very pretty skirts! Also, the scenery in the video reminds me of the Fraser Valley in BC where I used to live. So beautiful. New sub.
Thanks for the encouragement! I really want to cultivate my watercolor efforts. I was just thinking about how I really MUST be purposeful and set aside time to make this happen, and then I saw your video. :) There's also some beautiful fabric I got several years ago (a full-size duvet from a thrift store that's a heavier 100% cotton) and keep meaning to make a skirt out if it. Recently I bought a wrap skirt and I plan on copying that pattern. Side note - I've been wearing skirts or dresses full-time for almost 20 years and for most of that time we've been in a farm setting. No issues. :) You just learn what skirt works best for each situation. Like: DON'T wear a long skirt if you'll be dealing with muck. 😅 My daughter is a natural seamstress. She loves it so much and I encourage her to DO IT! She has 4 little ones so far, but she still carves out time to be creative in that way. Anyway - thanks again! And what a beautiful view! ❤ Joanne in SW MO
Thanks so much Joanne! I have definitely used sheets from the thrift store to see with! I’ve made nightgowns out of 100 percent cotton sheets. I believe one of them was Egyptian cotton!! Great quality. Why not?! So much cheaper, and you get so much fabric! I’ve also made my daughter a dress for Christmas out of a large gold tablecloth! I’ve found that it’s cheaper that way, because even if I find fabric at our local thrift store, it’s $3 per meter (which is still so much cheaper than a fabric store), whereas an entire queen sheet set might on cost $3-5. I will try to get used to the skirts on our farm. We have had so much rain this season, so I usually have to dress for the weather, unfortunately! Glad you enjoyed the video! ❤️
Hi Suzanne. New to your channel!! I have watched a few of your videos now, and after seeing this one, I think we live in the same region, or very close 😉 The scenery looks so familiar to me 😃 That gets me excited to finally see a homemaker/homestead channel that's near by, then I can TRULY relate to your garden, availability of things, etc. I am not on a farm/acreage, but I appreciate the lifestyle. I love to cook, preserve, garden, craft, and be at home for my family. I wish you the best, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of your videos. Take care, Donna.
Hi Donna, thank you so much! So glad to hear that you appreciate all the same things I do! 😀 I’m in the Shuswap region of B.C. Canada. We are surrounded by mountains here, which is beautiful. If you head south from here to Vernon and Kelowna it is more spread out and you can see more horizon. Thanks so much for introducing yourself, I love to get to know my viewers! ❤️
@@thefarmerswifecanada oh cool, I'm in the North Okanagan 😉 It's sure going to get hot!! I hope you're able to stay cool. Thanks for sharing. Take care 💖
Thank you! 😀 I have sewn some of my own dresses, but not the ones i am wearing recently. I thrifted them. Skirts are so much easier to see that dresses!

Thank you! I really like it too 😀
Very inspiring!!!! Thank you for the encouragement to be individuals while being homemakers!

Love dresses!! I either make them, get them from goodwill or amazon. I feel so pretty in them
Me too! At first it’s a big change, if you are used to jeans (like I was), but it is quite freeing. 😀
