I used to believe that the gorefield series was born from a basic sarcastic view on garfield and the general of the comics but now i can see that lumpy just genuinely loves garfield and gorefield is born from just love and appreciation of garfield
The only people who think Garfield isn't funny are the people who forget/don't know that the older comics exist. The old ones were very very funny, and the new ones are rarely funny. He's probably just someone who's aware of how high quality the humor in Garfield used to be.
This music video is genius; the way they juxtapose garfield's saturated orange coat with the greyscale city and coats of his followers emphatically sells just how much of a "Cool Cat" he is.

Imagine someone making a remixed version where it's all been reanimated into an eldritch horror music video, but it gets more progressively distorted/fucked up I know you can't improve on perfection, but this would make for a great reanimation project
