@@gx92muc leveling is always fun for me. More than running the same M+ over and over. And Blizz insisting we should go back to BfA and SL dungeons, the 2 worst expacs the game had.
Im just as hyped for the fresh start experience as i was playing on day 1 of the original release 20 years ago. Ive been playing games since the original release of the Atari games system in the 1970s , no other game in the whole history of games has ever made me feel like this.
There isn't a screenshot you showed that I don't recognize and specifically remember... they are all places I have been myself. Every inch of the world is MEMORABLE, and you can't say that about most games of any genre.
I'm enjoying the Anniversary servers! I got a night elf warrior up to level 12 already and I'm just sort of taking it as I go rather than deliberately trying to rush to 60. I learned from the Classic Era resurgence that I'm capable of leveling in a mere 3 months but we'll have plenty of time to get to 60, level professions, and raid before the servers move to TBC. Warriors are notoriously slow and I feel it a little bit, having come from warlock, mage, and hunter but I still enjoy it so I don't mind too much.
You nailed it! I would go so far and say that many of the other aspects of the game support the appeal of the world design. For example items: You have so many flavor items that are not BiS, but they tell you details about the cultures or just curiosities. It makes the world more believeable and less gamelike, because there are cloth items with +int and +str. Also class design: You are not a hero, you are a small light in this abundant world and you will never be absolutely overpowered even with T3. You learn spells that are just for flavor, but that is not without function for the atmosphere. Even unfinished areas add to the experience - and for me personally they have always been the real endgame content ;-)
very nice video i feel insane but sometimes i just enjoy logging in and observing the scenery and places in wow, always filled with pretty sights, cool oddities, or simply placrs i recall fondly out of nostalgia. i do the same with dofus retro, another mmorpg from the past that has amazing sound design, mapping and art style
@@Jediwarlock my favorite is by far teldrassil; the purple fog, the trees reaching the top of the sky, the music.... hell, even the low humming of the small lamps along the roads truely magical

I remember I quit Runescape in mid 2000 and there was very few games available for Mac. Being fascinated with MMOs I wanted to try others. And the only other alternative was WoW. I will never forget getting hooked in the dwarf starting zone. Jumping from Runescape to WoW blew me away
Fantastic breakdown of why World of Warcraft truly stands as a masterpiece. It’s incredible how much depth and artistry went into its design-every detail feels intentional and impactful. It’s always fascinating to dive into different perspectives on what makes this game so timeless. Thanks for your Work!
I was a bit skeptical to start over on the fresh servers at first. But right now I'm having a blast with my hardcore self-found warrior. In general I think the world is so much more atmospheric, the classes feel right and there's actual danger (and masculinity) in the world. Last time Classic launched I did an elf warrior in a RP realm and that character is so special to me - did everything my way and made some close friendships. Took my time, even crafted an Arcanite Champion before I bought my epic mount (and before I got my rank 11 mount 😄).
@@Jediwarlock 30th Anniversary of the franchise. I've been with the series since I was 6. My midlife crisis will most likely be me buying super expensive warcraft merch.
short of alzheimer, i will never, ever, forget the first time i stepped in stormwind and heard the ost. i mean, jesus, for a 11yo back in 2005 that was as awesome as awesome could ever get.
You really hit the nail on the head. It's about the world and how you experience it. Personally I love the social interaction in the game and unfortunately I think that aspect in WoW is dying. New launches revitalize it but it fades over time. The world building seems to be the only aspect in WoW that never truly degrades.
I think it can happen whenever... I mostly notice it in Northshire Valley with all the Level 1 wolves. It's a rare sound file that has a really large range/volume compared to most other NPC ambience, so when you're questing near the wolves there's a chance you hear it! :)
Blizzard should create a level 1 mode where you play every expansion, but remove all the filler quests(kill xx things and do that) but straight main quest of every expansion that tells the total story of all expansions in a compact 12-20 hours range.
Reminds me of flying over Wetlands near Menethil Harbor and seeing that farm high up on a(n unreachable?) hill. I don't think I ever reached it, but when I first saw it on my flight path, I was so curious :D
I would be down for a classic plus experience where it was sort of like a play your way type of deal. Something where you could toggle different things on and off like faster leveling if you want to go that way or having a barbershop/transmog features. Basically a number of options that make the classic experience what you yourself want it to be. And I feel like with the phasing technology they could do that and if you want to run around the world looking like a Christmas tree wearing 10 different color pieces of armor that’s your option but if you want to do something a little different, you should also have that option
I've been playing WoW since 12/1/2005, so almost 19 years, or halfway through original WoW. It's been my favorite video game ever since, even though I don't play it every day. And to me, the world of the game is the best part, too. I love how huge and varied it is! Yet, I have no interest in playing WoW Classic because the game was frustratingly slow and more difficult back then. And it was smaller with less customization and variety. The current game is almost overwhelmingly massive. And all the people who think the end game is the only game now, are completely wrong. I hate raiding and PvP and always have, especially in vanilla. I don't even like most dungeons, although the new follower dungeon system makes it better for me. I still spend almost all of my time in the game leveling up and questing or exploring.
I think what makes Vanilla WoW so special, that at no point did your character feel like "The savior of the world". Just a potential part of saving the world, just like everyone else.
So true! I could never both playing Retail... and probably never will. Classic as a community and culture is of course not perfect, but at least we still have the world to explore and enjoy. :)
@ I am considering to plat retail, but gravitating to return to Classic because of exploration, story line when I want to do it,and occasional raid with other creatures. Community ain't good for sure, but ut can be just ignored 🤣
This game got me so invested in it that it was the only game I played for a couple of years. There isn't any other game that did that. Although I wouldn't consider it my favorite game anymore since I barely still play it, I can't deny its masterpiece status. Back then you had MMO's and then you had WoW. WoW was a phenomenon. Nowadays it feels like just a has-been that tries hard to recapture its glory days.
The shores of Auberdine was my mind soothing place. The perpetual almost daylight is perfect for shining on realistic waves. They destroyed it in cataclysm. I hated the game ever since.
It has always been like a child that has great potential but the parents start getting lazy as the child ages ruining what potential the kid had by the time it graduates. The War within is like the kid finally landing a good job, moving out, and starting to hit the gym. The better not FK up housing because that’s the ONE thing that people have wanted for many years. Make REPEATABLE content not content that is obsolete after an expansion!
Combat is outdated, boring, non-intuitive AF. For most classes anyway. World is diverse and immersive AF. For most zones anyway. That’s about it. Game is legendary because of the timing it had in gaming industry. Nowadays it’s just nostalgia and community.
I guess I was too late in playing Classic WoW. It just doesn't... hook me as much as later expansions did. Cata was when I fully embraced WoW (on a private server), then stopped playing. Came back for Shadowlands, and stuck around and now I find myself wanting to play and stop playing at the same time.
Classic wow is the best game for a new player. Not so much for a player like me who have already leveled 30+ characters over 20 years. For a player like me, it is a chore to go through that process again because i have already seen it several times so the novelty of it does not affect me anymore. The pacing is too slow, combat too slow and simplistic in nature to me. I know how the game operate on a very detailed level which makes classic a joke to me play wise. It simply is not appealing to me after so long time within the game.
@Jediwarlock oh its broken. It's a phrase that's never used outside of UA-cam and if you think about it for more than half a second, it is completely retarded.
It’s not though… for its time it was great but it’s insanely outdated. Not enough quests, reliant on grinding, class balance is horrid and you spend 80% literally of your time walking.
"Reliant on grinding"? I haven't ever had a problem with it... if you're doing quests and maybe 2 or 3 runs of a couple dungeons you should be in good shape :D if you're wanting to reach max level quickly, though, there can be a lot of grinding inside the instances...
Ah yeah, it's all the same in my mind because I don't count the different economy/playerbase/etc. as two separate games... for the lore stuff I talk about it's all the same compared with 2004 "Vanilla" so I just call it Classic. :)
@Jediwarlock oh well...I do... since the novelty of first playing wow all those years ago vs replaying the same nostaligia bait now can never be the same for me... P.S. not an issue. I just wrote in caps so that it gets noticed and so that new players don't get confused
Correction. WoW is not a masterpiece. It just lacks competition. Proof is obvious. In every other field in the world people see something and they copy it. Ahh they grow crops this way? Ohh they build PCs this way? They build bla bla this way.. In video games they refuse to take what works and improve it. WoW is not perfect, it just has no competition as all those who triest to copy it either produce crap as they don't have enough resources or it's just a ash grab. It was good 2004 but if it's still the best.. That tells you about gamers and what they promote by voting with their wallets
Idk if that's fully accurate... I mean there have been dozens of "WoW Killers" throughout the years and none of them have dethroned Classic. So I think there's plenty of competition but there hasn't been a good enough commitment to overcome what Blizz produced.
@@Jediwarlock well, competition and cash grabs are different. If you take fighting for example and let Tyson Fury fight 5 toddlers is it competition? They are fighting. If a cyclist enters a car race is it really a competition? You could call it that, but in a way it's wrong. That's how gaming is today. Look how it used to be, it should be way better today.
it USED to be a masterpiece, but greed and corporate practice destroyed it's growth and expansion. It kind of obv why art today cannot break boundaries or barriers today, and it's simply because there's a huge lack of actual tough type of men like me in the office... Homie... if you know you know. But without that merit and diligent leader or two, the house of cards crumbles. Every team/operation needs brains and muscle and we basically killed off the muscle.
... Im not a very smart man, but I've noticed alot of dev teams shift and change... it's was usually a half half type of situation... as men we dont care if ur a chad or a nerd, we're working together. It sounds cheesey and simple, but fuck... Homies just dont get it I guess...
no it's not, i've played it for 15 years and i can safely say that it is the most braindead game structure ever made, it begs not only for your money but also your time, a brain leech is the best analogy i can give to this pile of steaming trash that is "World of Warcraft"
Did you collect things like mounts and other unnecessary things? Or why do you feel that way. Also, these hardcore takes are mostly coming from ppl that just couldn't control themselves and overdid it so they totally collapse and start to hate the game. Seen it hundreds of times. Should've followed that hint on the loading screen that tells them to go outside
You dont get it do you? In the beginning, it was the perfect product for both the average joe and the in door'd loser. Like... boundaries were broken. And as I stated earlier, the older dev team was a mix of chads and nerds. Brains and muscle. All game devs and stuff today killed the muscle, so now all you have is "leeches" meritocracy and the average joe aspect is DEAD. people who think these features that make it easier are so brain dead...

Yes but Its not fun doing it over and over and over for the 100th time
@@gx92muc leveling is always fun for me. More than running the same M+ over and over. And Blizz insisting we should go back to BfA and SL dungeons, the 2 worst expacs the game had.
@@noctusowl yea, totally fine, to be fair i tried a new Class this time, so Its still something new lol
The Journey is what matters to me most. :) ... especially growing up playing on private servers, once you hit 60/70/80... what do you do? XD
that was always my feeling on it. Well explained @GunnbriktRailways
In classic WoW, the game is the world. Not just some remote isolated instance that requires item level.
TRUE!
I was 8 when i first played this game. Now I'm 28 and still playing.
We're still here! :D
Wonderful video! ❤
Thank you! :)
Played WOW from day one.... quitted after Legion, but wow always feels like coming home....
I feel the same :)
Im just as hyped for the fresh start experience as i was playing on day 1 of the original release 20 years ago. Ive been playing games since the original release of the Atari games system in the 1970s , no other game in the whole history of games has ever made me feel like this.
It's a world we can never truly leave behind :D
There isn't a screenshot you showed that I don't recognize and specifically remember... they are all places I have been myself. Every inch of the world is MEMORABLE, and you can't say that about most games of any genre.
So true! :)
Best wow UA-camr! Can't wait for this season of videos
Thanks so much! :)
Yay! I'm glad you're enjoying them :D
“The world is old. It rewards those who take the time to grow.”
-Rhystic Studies in his video on Kamigawa
Love that! :D
Love your comment! Thank you for sharing... finding secrets is a great endgame activity! ;)
very nice video
i feel insane but sometimes i just enjoy logging in and observing the scenery and places in wow, always filled with pretty sights, cool oddities, or simply placrs i recall fondly out of nostalgia.
i do the same with dofus retro, another mmorpg from the past that has amazing sound design, mapping and art style
That's great to hear! I do the same thing... Three Corners in Redridge is one of my favorite spots to "vacation" at ;)
@@Jediwarlock my favorite is by far teldrassil;
the purple fog, the trees reaching the top of the sky, the music.... hell, even the low humming of the small lamps along the roads
truely magical
08:07 Frodo inside mount doom, right? 😁 nice detail right there
Haha, I'm glad someone noticed it! ;)
"even when we take a break from azeroth..." dude has his priorities right :)
Haha, "all things in moderation, even World of Warcraft!" :D
It's definitely not just nostalgia too I'm 21 and I've never played wow in my life and played sod wow and it was one of the most fun gaming experiences I've had, I want to hop on the 20th anniversary but I just know I'm going to be addicted again
I haven't tried Anniversary yet either for the same reason XD
9:23 my beloved dun morogh
it is insane how good graphics wow classic has
Amazing for its time... and still amazing today! :D
I remember I quit Runescape in mid 2000 and there was very few games available for Mac. Being fascinated with MMOs I wanted to try others. And the only other alternative was WoW. I will never forget getting hooked in the dwarf starting zone. Jumping from Runescape to WoW blew me away
Night and day difference! :D
Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
Like others I was 7 or so when I remember my dad helped me make first character. Still love classic to this day
That's great... I have similar memories ;)
I'm glad you're enjoying it! :)
@@Jediwarlock cheers - have fun also! 🙂
Someone sold their soul to create such a timeless masterpiece.
Multiple people for sure... the last year or two of development was really intense for some of them!
Grew up with the warcraft games, the nostalgia and roleplaying community is why my sub as been active when I can afford it.
WoW will never get old! ... just us XD
There are so many WoW memories we will never forget! :D
You really hit the nail on the head. It's about the world and how you experience it. Personally I love the social interaction in the game and unfortunately I think that aspect in WoW is dying. New launches revitalize it but it fades over time. The world building seems to be the only aspect in WoW that never truly degrades.
It's very true! :)
Wish I was born again and explore wow once more tbh
Same :)
Azeroth is a fantastic world
:)
I'm turning 20 this year. Anyone who says that people who like WoW classic over Retail are just wearing rose-tinted goggles is wrong.
Been playing since 2008 and still main a human. Don’t remember howling wolves in Elwynn Forest. Does it only happen at night or something??
I think it can happen whenever... I mostly notice it in Northshire Valley with all the Level 1 wolves. It's a rare sound file that has a really large range/volume compared to most other NPC ambience, so when you're questing near the wolves there's a chance you hear it! :)
Blizzard should create a level 1 mode where you play every expansion, but remove all the filler quests(kill xx things and do that) but straight main quest of every expansion that tells the total story of all expansions in a compact 12-20 hours range.
That would be interesting! :D
After playing this game for 15 years and leveling a dozen dwarf characters, I see that camp above Anvilmar (08:29) for the first time now
Same 😂
Reminds me of flying over Wetlands near Menethil Harbor and seeing that farm high up on a(n unreachable?) hill. I don't think I ever reached it, but when I first saw it on my flight path, I was so curious :D
@@Metalton95 yeah. Or the part just above Elvyn Forest , when you fly up to the Burning Steps :D Always wanted to reach that zone :D
Always more mysteries to discover! ;)
You can leave WoW, but WoW never leaves you.
:')
Making me feel old Jedi! :)
Haha, never too old to enjoy WoW though! :D
Options are always a W! I love your ideas! :)
It truly was a fantasy simulator for its time.
So immersive! :)
"So you just level up, explore, and take your time playing the game??"
"It's a peaceful life." :)
@@Jediwarlock Yeah, pretty much this.
I think what makes Vanilla WoW so special, that at no point did your character feel like "The savior of the world".
Just a potential part of saving the world, just like everyone else.
Very true! :D
Jedi can you do a video on Sunken Temple? After 15 years I still don't know ins and outs of it.
That would be fun! There are a lot of existing lore videos on it, but maybe if I find a few secrets I'll check it out ;)
When I bought Wow with my first pc in 2005 I had no idea I had to subscribe and that it was a mmo lol
Oh boy XD
Great intro
I appreciate that! :)
WAS a masterpiece
Correct! I stick with Classic/Vanilla, Retail definitely has issues nowadays.
Classic will remain undefeated forever. Tried Retail recently and it’s just so soulless to me.
Classic Forever!
Back then, devs gave a damn and care. Now, they are in the service of the Lich King. Very sad, and that's why people still gravitate toward Classic.
Community ain't good for sure, but ut can be just ignored 🤣
hey, that starting video with classic map from the start of the video, where and how can i find it?
ua-cam.com/video/vlVSJ0AvZe0/v-deo.html
It's the original World of Warcraft cinematic trailer, you can find it here on the UA-cams.
Yep, check the URL! :D
I like those thoughts :)
why you main lock? is it the fantasy:? the gameplay? just curious
Both! Just part of my brand now, I suppose XD ...but there's a lot of benefits! I like the felsteeds :D
we know master
:D
it aged like a fine wine 😅
Indeed! :D
It will always be my favorite video game
:)
Classic* (Vanilla through Lich King) is a Masterpiece*
TRUE :D
Retail is the chore within, fomo lobby game, but Wow classic, that is peak adventure mmorpg!
Totally! :D
The shores of Auberdine was my mind soothing place. The perpetual almost daylight is perfect for shining on realistic waves. They destroyed it in cataclysm. I hated the game ever since.
Classic Darkshore is one of the greats! :D
Vanilla wow is one of my favorite games of all time
:D

I think you like this game
did a reaction to your video. hope ya dont mind
Hey thanks so much! Thanks for letting me know (in case the copyright tool picks it up or something). :)
It's a shame that I've played all of classic wow to the point of exhaustion.
Taking breaks is important! :D
will wow still exist after 100 years ?
Perhaps only on private servers and in our memories... but I think so, yes. :)
If only it was not Subscription based.... sigh..
Ahh, the one downside! :o
Love those thoughts! :)
Watch out, bitter addicts in the comments =D
I'm watchin' out! Thanks for the heads up XD
The game is amazing, The thing that makes it bad is the playerbase of 2024. All the greedy swiping people killing the game
Blame the company since they allow that to happen.
Combat is outdated, boring, non-intuitive AF. For most classes anyway.
World is diverse and immersive AF. For most zones anyway.
That’s about it. Game is legendary because of the timing it had in gaming industry.
Nowadays it’s just nostalgia and community.
That's fair XD
I guess I was too late in playing Classic WoW.
It just doesn't... hook me as much as later expansions did.
Cata was when I fully embraced WoW (on a private server), then stopped playing.
Came back for Shadowlands, and stuck around and now I find myself wanting to play and stop playing at the same time.
I'm glad you've enjoyed Retail! It's good to take breaks and come back to it :)
Modern WoW is better than Classic. Anyone with a pulse agrees.
Ah I disagree, but that's just my preference... I'm glad you enjoy Modern! There's a lot of cool stuff happening on there! :D
That is fair! :)
"With all that being said. Let's get into it."
Said every unimaginative youtuber in every intro of every video for the last 10 years.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Its VANILLA wow not CLASSIC wow
What on Earth is this comment supposed to mean!?
Well, I usually am talking about Classic and I agree that Retail definitely is not at the same level these days. :'(
no it's not, i've played it for 15 years and i can safely say that it is the most braindead game structure ever made, it begs not only for your money but also your time, a brain leech is the best analogy i can give to this pile of steaming trash that is "World of Warcraft"
All game devs and stuff today killed the muscle, so now all you have is "leeches" meritocracy and the average joe aspect is DEAD. people who think these features that make it easier are so brain dead...
says the fuckwit with the only video on his channel being him beating children in a metalgear game.
Hey man, you had a bad day but it's gonna be alright. Cheer up.
