  • Hi! It's been a hot minute since I touched my 2020 Europe footage!
Hopefully this isn't too bad - I just want to completely edit all the footage so I have some memories to look back on for my trip! I miss Europe a lot, and I hope I get to travel again soon!
Also, is it just me, or do y'all multilingual friends shift accents when talking to your friends and your family? My Singaporean accent came out to play in the vid lol~

Hello, I'm not good at English, but I always watch videos.
Sometimes when I talk to a local person, I get pointed out that it is always a bad accent pronunciation.
My accent are always the same. So it's interesting to me that the intonation changes depending on the other person.
I think you're trying to match the other person's position. I think it's because you are fluent in English. And I enjoyed your travel vlog.

Thank you so much for watching! I'm glad you liked the video! ❤ And I completely agree with you that I find myself matching the other person! It just helps the conversation to feel more natural and comfortable in my opinion!
And I think it's so good that you can communicate well in English even though it's not your first language! I wish I could be fluent in a different language too! Keep it up !!

no lah, it's not just you :) when my wife and parents first met, and I spoke English to my Korean wife, my Australian parents don't know what I said, and when I talked to my Australian parents in English my Korean wife didn't know what I just said...I thought I was just speaking English, the change in my accent/tone was entirely unconscious...so I'm not even multi-lingual and speak English differently depending on who I'm speaking to!

Thank you for sharing! That’s so interesting - I find myself adapting my accent subconsciously too! Even when I’m with my parents and some Aussie friends, the accent switches up depending on who I’m directly talking to 😂 glad to hear I’m not the only one!
It’ll be interesting to see what happens this time when I travel back to Singapore - I normally use a Singaporean accent when I’m with family, but with random Singaporean strangers it’s usually a super strong Aussie accent lol 😂
