    I like using Switchbot products for a few reasons. They are solid products. They are mostly compatible with Home Assistant. They tend to just work and you don't have to think about them. Switchbot Support is very responsive and helpful, whether you just have one of their little finger bots, or if you have a whole home of products. On top of this, Switchbot tend to be innovative. They still have the best tilt blind option that works with BLE, small and economical in my opinion.
    I have a much older Xiaomii air purifier that does work well and is silent on "Auto" when the air is clean, but sounds like a jet engine if there is any contamination at all. For me, the Switchbot device having that table is a huge advantage. I could put the Air Purfier in the corner and then make use of the table on top of it to place items on it. This to me is innovative and something I have not seen on other air purifiers.
    Edit: Adding essential oils to the air might be counter intuitive, as most essential oils you can get readily tend to add to degradation of air quality. Personal opinion, I don't class adding oils to the air as an added feature, it just makes the purifier need to work harder.

      Agree on essential oils. Though so far I haven't seen increase in PM2.5 or other air particles, you're right about negative impact on air.

      @@BeardedTinker there are some very interesting papers around on essential oil diffusers and plug in air fresheners. Really alarming stuff, I’ll not have them or scented candles in the house. At work they’d need to be used in a fume cupboard!

    Nice review, I am very tempted by this. If I had worse air I definitely would but it’s pretty decent here. The extra functionality might just encourage me though, it’s a pretty nice looking thing

      Even if you have "good air" outside, internal air quality can degarde very quickly, especially if you have windows closed and run air-conditioning systems that recirculate the internal air. This, along with cooking, furniture and other indoor things, very quickly leads to bad air inside. I have an older air purifier, and it only measures PM2.5 on the display. A lot of times this will sit at 1 to 5 and the purifier will be silent thinking air is good. As soon as I start cooking, even though the air purifier is in the room beside the kitchen, not directly in the kitchen, that reading starts going up, and that air purifier very quickly goes from happy silence, to roaring like a jet plane taking off. You'd be surprised how quickly indoor air quality can degrade even when doing day to day things without you noticing.
      I am no fan of spending money on something that is not needed, hence why I usually use cheaper air quality sensors. They don't need to be super accurate. They just need to give relatively repeatable results so triggers can be set, but even with me being a cheap ass, I'd recommend an air purifier even if you feel your are quality is prety good.

      @ I agree but I’ve been running monitors inside for a couple of years so I know it’s good. Plenty of ventilation in this old house and no air con as it’s UK. Cooker extraction is already linked to air quality above the job via home assistant so I have that covered! The only time I have had issues is when replastering walls other DIY work. Still tempted though!

      What I've noticed is that during sleep CO2 and PPM rise from around 650 to around 1350 during night/sleep.
      But also, purifier is down during the night not because it's not needed but to save on filter use. In hindsight, maybe it's better to have it on during night when we're sleeping and off when nobody is home...

    I really like the idea of having the airpurifyer in a table. Mine from IKEA (for half the price) doesn't have the light or charger but for half the price and with zigbee.... I think I prefer mine.

    interesting, your unit has a wood grain top, my beta test unit had a solid white top.

    Sorry, I’m confused, it doesn’t forward any control or air quality data to home assistant ?

      @ Thank you for your answer, that’s quite unfortunate, do we know if there is any plan to fix that ? Is it also the case with other smart home ecosystems like Google or Amazon or only the matter integration ?

    • @JohnKiniston
      @JohnKiniston 11 годин тому +1

      @@TerraS77 I believe its a matter protocol problem.

    • @BeardedTinker
      @BeardedTinker  10 годин тому

      Exactly - this depends on Matter standard. Mostly firmware stuff if it gets added to Matter protocol, it can be pushed to HA too.
      Same as with HomeKit - data is missing because HomeKit doesn't support specific sensor data or control
