How To Calculate Markup and Mark Down on Calculator - Easy Trick
In this video i am showing how to calculate the mark up and mark down on basic calculator. There is a MU button on calculator that we can use to simplify the process of mark up and mark down.
Example for MarkUp:
Amount=560
MarkUP=20%
Press amount on calculator:560
Press MU button
Press + button
Press 20
Press % button.
Answer=672
Example for MarkDown:
Amount=860
MarkUP=35%
Press amount on calculator:860
Press MU button
Press Minus - button
Press 35
Press % button.
Answer=559

It is wrong way . You took 560 Rs , then u clicked markup by 20%(by using +) . But you shouldn't use + . why because 20 % of 560 is 112 which is total of 672 , i agree but now you imagine you will say customer to get 20% discount for 672 and you get only 537 Rs which is a loss . You should type 560 then click MU and then type 20% then you get 700 Rs . If any customer come and you give 20 % discount then the price given by customer would be 560

You're wrong my friend. Type 560 and click MU and type 20%. So you'll get 700. That is how it works.

You do it wrong. You should not press the + button after MU, you are doing a percentage calculation in stead of a margin (markup) calculation. To find the value A that contains a 20% margin (markup) on 560, you set up an equation where 560 is 80% of A. Algebraically, you solve 560 = A(1-0.2) ==> A = 560/(1-1.2) = 700. The correct answer is 700.

560/(1-.20)=700
