I have the same problem mine shows up mostly in the winter…to avoid headaches i did my emission test one month before due date and one week after i did my emission test the light showed up…mine isn’t that bad it comes and goes

My shop erased the codes then did the drive to get all the monitors ready except for that one, smog check then performed before the check engine light (code) comes back after a certain amount of driving. Luckily that revision of the smog rules was made about 5 years ago, otherwise it would be time to junk it.

Great video, comical too! No dreadfully loud music to obscure the task at hand. The comment popups were on point. I had the P0440 and P0446 codes pop up. Started with the cheapest fix first. The gas cap- looked old and tired. I bought a gas cap from Autozone, the Duralast one. I know, oem gas caps are the best option. I didn’t want to erase the code. I wanted to see if the new gas cap sealed properly and the cel light would go off on its own with the new gas cap. Lucky for me, it did. Took over a week but it’s finally off. 2001 Toyota Corolla- 215,000 miles on it, still runs good.

Happened to me too on my Honda in Fremont, CA. Before I leave the oil change place I always check things that could've been touched. That way they can't deny if they did mess up. Cost them more money than what I spent doing the oil change. Never went back to that place again.

That's why i start yelling at them under the hood: no air filter !!!! I had a young kid acting like he did not hear me, so i blasted the car horn. That got their attention. I also won't let them fill up the washing fluid reservoir with that cheap blue stuff. I live in a cold climate and that stuff freezes. Great channel.
Older cars get brittle especially in Arizona ... Sending love from another Arizonian Mines a 2013 and everything that is rubber has failed on the car..u name it.. Every front end part every little rubber hose..Plastic also gets very brittle too it's the heat for sure,,But it doesn't help when somebody is careless

It only through the PF 0440 code and I just reset it while I was driving..My radio has a maestro rr Hooked up to it where I have the gauge is through the radio and head unit is a pioneer...And yes you can reset the codes through the radio I'm wondering if it was just from going on the rough road because the code hasn't gone on again... Go to pick 'n save junkyard in Gilbert Or there's multiple locations guarantee they have this vehicle the parts are pretty cheap just bring your tools I just went today to pick up a few Interior parts on my 2013 Mazda six...

@@FixItAngel Same for a 20 year old 1mz-fe V6. Needs valve seats but still runs. Valve cover gaskets also replaced twice in 20 years. Evidently normal stuff.

Quick question lai, i just bought a 2005 Corolla automatic transmission and i wanted to ask what do u think is wrong when im going up a hill and the car is in 4th gear and wen it downshifts into 3rd and i step on the gas pedal to go faster the car starts to hesitate but doesnt die out, it sounds like a jerking type of feeling. I change the plugs already new fuel pump and injectors, idles smoothly wen i come to a stop. The problem only happens wen the car is under load and wen i step on the gas 3rd and 4th gear only. 1st and 2nd gear no problem. U think it could be the ignition coil?

@@FixItAngel no check engine light and no codes, i also changed the maf sensor and still the same. Its weird cuz it drives good when i dont pedal it but wen i go more then 70 percent throttle its starts to hesitate. I'll just try and replace the coil packs cause there original and the car has over 150k miles. I was checking the problem on UA-cam and everything is leading to a weak coil pack that only gets worst when the engine is under load. I'll let u know if it fixes it. I already ordered 4 and it should be here in about a week. Thanks chelu 🤙
On the newer cars the plastic / composite parts are not as tough as the same components were in the mid 90s Toyos . You almost could not break a lot of those parts then. Hundia started making those crap parts for their cars that would bust all up easy.
Can you check this valve,with a hand vacum pump ?.if so were do I connect the vacuum pump holes ?in the broken piece,or the other connection going inside the air box?would help 🙂

The code is for the cat or maybe a leak in the exhaust before the sensor ... If the o2 sensor is reading then the sensor is not your problem .... And did you have the correct cat replaced with a oem part ? Aftermarket cats don't always work like the factory parts ...
@@rojasr2 I def have an aftermarket cat. The OE one's are really expensive. I had to have mine modified. But I got that done last year and that didn't throw a code when I replaced it. 🤷🏾♂️

Owner spend almost $2000 on suspension parts, rack and pinion, joints here and there. However when I open the oil cap, there some carbon build up on it along inside the engine. Where you see it where the oi cap is. Interior could be nicer but everything look good. No check engine light and no code came up. All for a price of $2100, which he plan to sale for $2500 after what I told him.
hi, my 2002 Sienna has the same engine as the avalon. it does have carbon build up too. Did you check the bluebook on it? Are there leaks leaks in the bottom of the engine? If so, after you purchase it you will need to get that repaired quick.

Not only that the owner keep changing price, and that tell me about his fake story. He said he own the car for X amount of time but it wasn't. Do you have to take out the tube from the bottom? Looks like you can remove the broke end by cutting a small piece on top, crushed the broken piece inside with a pliers, without taking the whole tube out.
all EVAP codes will appear because of open or bad gas cap. you can try to put some silicone grease on the rubber gasket and then reset the light. it might work but always better to change to a new gas cap. keeps you from second guessing. but change gas cap to genuine OEM part. don't buy aftermarket. I was a used car tech at Toyota. We always change the gas caps from trade-ins and auction cars that have aftermarket gas caps.

The P0440 can be a nightmare. It can be anything from the gas cap to the charcoal canister to a cracked vacuum line to a faulty switching valve.

I would spray all those evap hoses with silicon spray inside and out real good. Older cars hoses dry out and crack causing leaks.

That thing also broke off on my car. I used JB weld to weld it back. The nozzle is stronger than original and has been few tears no problem.

thank you Kabayan, mine still eats oil. i think the problem is the valve stem seals. i need to replace it soon.

I read a few articles about this. Only US made ones have oil burning issues. The Japan built vehicles don't have these issues

Do you have to change the valve, new valve hose is all you need to fix the problem unless the valve is busted.

Were the oxygen sensors OEM parts or aftermarket?. If you go after market on the O2 sensors it tends to not like it for whatever reason.
