I tried to verify the suspicion of Gouki Shibukawa's "handshake technique"

I find myself struggling to grasp (no pun intended) the mechanics of the technique even though I’ve watched the instructional video you guys made. Does this technique have a name? Maybe I could do some Googling to help me figure out what I’m doing wrong.
