I love how you you keep it real. I’ve been at this awhile too. I use a bar lotion and even a bug away lotion bar. For my next trip, I’ve got it down to no liquids! For a 17 day cruise I’ll have a Tide stick, a skinny roll on cologne, and a teeny liquid for my face, and hand sanitizer in a spray bottle. I don’t worry about my mascara. TSA has never pulled it.☺️
Regarding deodorant, I use a crystal. Now that I’m traveling again, I set aside 1 that I’ve used down to a more convenient size. Toothpaste, I use a powder. I bring laundry sheets and dryer sheets which keeps my clothes smell nice. Sephora had a solid lotion which was really great. I love a fancy bar soap, but I’m not sure on my hair, yet.
I have been using Basin solid shampoo & conditioner for over 10 years (purple ones - I originally bought them for the scent that I like, but since I stopped coloring my hair they have been great for my silver hair.) love them! I usually don’t even take a full bar - either cut off a piece or save one that's been used at home - to save even more space.
I use a Lush shampoo bar (Honey I Washed My Hair).. it's a bit more expensive, but it lasts me at least 3 months per bar, my hair's sooo soft and it's really easy to use. I'm allergic to coconut so it's hard for me to find shampoos.
I got a trial package of the Ethique shampoo/conditioner before a trip to Europe in 2019, now it is all I use. The bars last a long time! I'm going to try the tooth tabs next.
I break up my toothpaste tab on my brush. I use lush bar shampoo ❤ My sunscreen has to be oil because I’m allergic to crap in sunscreens 🤦♀️ PS as a hello fan!!!! I did not know they had toothpaste tabs 😳 But I’ll let you know they’ve got a deodorant my sensitive allergic to WAY to many thing’s accepts 🥰
I am also allergic to a lot of sunscreens from the US. I found that Korean and Japanese sunscreens are much better and have a more watery lightweight texture and does not leave a white cast. I can apply it without a mirror when I'm out and about during the day.
Face and body moisturizer ideas, please! I have really dry skin. I normally don't wear antiperspirant but do this wipes help with body odor???? BTW, your hair is so pretty! Thank you for your hard work!
I love the Hello toothpaste tabs! Unfortunately, my hair and scalp REALLY didn't like solid shampoo, including Ethique's. I'm interested trying some of the other products you mentioned in this video!😊
thanks! great tips. i use lush shampoo bars, but i’m not a fan of the conditioner so still carrying liquid for that. i use a solid deo. already but i’m going to give the wipes a try as well as the toothpaste tabs.
I like the solid shampoo and conditioner from Hair Cooki. With deodorant, I am allergic to bicarbonate and aluminium, which is in most. So I like using the yellow Whohoo (comes in a tin or roll on) and I mix it with Goodeau Flora deodorant. What one lacks, the other makes up for and by mixing them, I get the perfect deodorant for me, without any reaction.
Many Airbnb's have shampoo and conditioner in the shower, but might not list that. Also, all countries sell all toiletries. If you are not too tied to one particular brand, buying some toiletries at your destination and possibly sharing it with others can be cheaper than buying a small bottle and expensive solid bars. If you have extra left over, you can leave it for the cleaning crew as a gift. If I use a favorite conditioner any shampoo is fine. Many brands we have here can be found in Europe. Less hassle with a quart bag, lighter carry on, and more room for souvenirs.
I take deordant wipes and body wipes when we take the camper out. There are times we “dry” dock for a couple days and have to be careful with our water use
I'm a fairly good minimalist packer-- but toiletries in general are my weakness when it comes to packing. I've switched to solids for most items.... but still overpack in this category!
I have the Gemz shampoo and conditioner-I have short-ish fine hair and really only needed to use 1/2 of the wafer so my husband used the other halves which made it even more practical to take with us on our trip to Indonesia - didn’t have to bring so many! They are a great option - hopefully they will be available again soon!
Here are a couple of videos I've done about snacks so far and I have another one coming out in a few weeks 😊. ua-cam.com/video/GUZD48LiCpc/v-deo.html & ua-cam.com/video/2Bdo351EgVg/v-deo.html
Hi Christi, I really enjoy your videos and I think you’re just a doll. Love your smile and gorgeous hair. I have a question on the Gemz shampoo and conditioner, is the packaging biodegradable, recyclable or plastic that will end up on landfills? Also, I feel the same way with deodorant wipes…one time use and goes in the trash. Have you tried Lume? It’s awesome! And they make a cream deodorant that comes in a tube that can fit in the liquids bag (they also make wipes, but don’t buy those because of the one time use)
You're so sweet! The Gemz packaging is recyclable, they had a whole program set up fo sending the packaging back so it could be reused, which was another reason why I liked them so much. The deodorant wipes are biodegradable and the packaging is all recyclable too. I haven't tried Lume yet, I'll put them on the list!! Thank you 😊
Thanks for the tips. I'm going to try the deo wipes. I have used the Crystal Wipes but can't find them anywhere (maybe discontinued) I tend to stink less on vacay (no stress) so they seem to work just fine. I would recommend to people who use antiperspirant, to transition to a natural deo a few weeks before your trip (applying more often) to get your body used to the change. I tried a different brand of toothpaste tablets, not my jam, but have used Ecodent tooth powder which I like. I still bring a tiny tube of paste, that I layer with the powder to stretch it out, and have in case the tube runs out. I have the Blue Lizard sensitive solid sunscreen. Looking forward to trying the GEMZ when back in stock, right now I have the Viori solid shampoo and conditioner. Does GEMZ make a leave in conditioner? That would come in handy when I travel to places like Dominican Republic or Peru, as some places run out of hot water quickly or have none to begin with, and I try to take speedy showers.
Great idea on switching up on the deodorant a few weeks before your trip!! I think I'm going to try the toothpaste powder in the future. Not sure if Gemz has a leave in conditioner, but that would be a great idea!! 😊
Can you tell me which hand balm you use on the plane? I always need hand lotion when I fly and think a small balm container would be easier to pack. I can only find Bert’s Bees online. Thank you so much. 💜
I take bug wipes, in fact I pretty much only use the wipes all the time now then I'm not having to breath in the spray when I spray myself. And mosquitos really love me, so I've tested them thoroughly, LOL. Here's a link to the kind I usually use: amzn.to/3YdmlNa
You're driving me crazy. Lol. If you brush your hair from the bottom ( ends) and work your way up to the scalp without yanking and pulling, it'll help your hair to not break or not break as much. Sorry lol, I was practically raised in the beauty shop lol. But I enjoy your ideas!

People who mention snacks, mention peanut butter or peanut products. With peanut allergies being so prevalent, and knowing one who suffers with this allergy, I think people should take this into consideration. I love peanut M&Ms and would pack them but think twice now. What do others think?
I actually have done research on this since I've done multiple videos on airplane snacks and I found this article from The American Academy of Allergy Asthma & Immunology about the multiple studies done on severe nut allergies and dust particles very helpful: www.aaaai.org/allergist-resources/ask-the-expert/answers/old-ask-the-experts/peanut-air-travel
Some of these products sound great, but I'm really concerned with the excessive amount of disposable packaging. I thought we were all trying to reduce the amount of garbage to the landfills? 😢
Almost all of the packaging is recyclable for all these products. GEMZ has/had a program where you send back in the packages and they will reuse them. Even the individual packaging for the deodorant wipes are recyclable and the wipes are biodegradable. 😊

Have never heard of Sun Bum products before so have added them to my shopping list for my cruise in February. Thanks so much for this video!
I used the stick sunscreen in Europe last year and really liked it. I think it is better than other sunscreens for coverage on my face.
I agree!! 😊

Where’d ya get that shirt, sis?
You’ve had that sunscreeb for a couple of years ? Those expire you should check the date
I make my own solid shampoo, conditioner, soap and take small size. Failing that we buy at the location.
This year I stopped bringing liquids, after they removed the toothpaste of my husband at TSA, even it was in the limit!

My dentist said not to swap out toothpaste for tablets. The tablets are much more abrasive on your teeth and are not kind to the enamel.
The Hello toothpaste tabs are the worst. They don't foam. The Eco brand is much better. They foam and also give you a fresh clean mouth.
Oh, good to know! I'll try those next 😊
