If you play the word lists in the background daily, it is surprising how many words you can learn, by just thinking about the sound of the words. If you combine this with writing the words in Russian and then in your own language this helps to store the words in a different way in your memory.
Also write the Russian word in phonetics in your own alphabet.
So ... words in 3 ways.
      1. The original word in Russian letters.
      2. Phonetics of the Russian word in your alphabet.
      3. The translated word.
It is also handy to try to make a "word association" a type of a "memory trick" to help you to recall the word and its meaning.
A few easy examples: Sandalii is close to the English word "sandals" and Rookzak" is fairly close to the English "Rucksack".
The words for scarf and shorts are close to English words too, as are jeans and Kost-you-m (suit) reminds me of costume.
With other words, you will have to create a "mind label" ... for example T-shirts are worn in the month of May (the warm month).
'Mike wears Maika in the month of May' (Mei).
'I broke my glasses and exclaimed "Ah-Ch-Kee!"
You can have fun making word associations, and they do work (at least for me they do!)
Best of luck with it !
