Nice post, goes a long way to show how technical and powerful Aikido can be with proper tuition and dedicated practise.
I recall reading bits about Mike years ago. Is he still with us? If so, he needs to do more videos. An interesting character indeed. At his peak, how many hours per week was he training? He appears to have a well honed, flowing expertise in several Japanese styles, and I'd like to know more.
we do this 17 basics. but i have also seen these in goshin jujitsu. so what is the diffetence between daito ryu aikijujitsu no kata and goshin jujitsu.
You should ask yourself if this was really the best possible use of an old phone booth. I mean, surely there's a disused shower stall somewhere you could make a larger dojo from.
I was one of his students, there were very few training there, he taught in the Japanese style which was not popular.

Very nice, except that everything is uke waza. The video doesn't stress balance breaking. There is not way these techniques will work with uki standing in a normal position. Like I said, uke-waza (the uke is jumping) Sorry.
Don't be sorry, its a valid point. Its very nice technically though. I'd love to see Mike do a video demonstrating Judo in a similarly proficient manner. Very underated guy it seems.
You need to develop a root, bud. You should not be using your weight to throw your opponent, else you lose your balance at the moment you disengage with him.
