- This video contains the interaction of Dr Vijayender with Mahesh who is pursuing MS from IISc Bangalore in CDS department. CDS means computational & data science department in IISc Bangalore.
There are two main stages of selection into PSU. First is written exam followed by the interview. Interview also has two steps one is group discussion (GD) or group task (GT) and the second is interview (PI). In interview there are two components personal interview questions known as HR questions and the technical questions. Questions in interviews can be asked from B. Tech project, internship also. I took SOM + FM combination.. But I studied for SOM+FM+thermo
Thermo was difficult in my paper so I attempted SOM and FM only

yes , it will be same, but usually mtech research sit for placements in third year
How to prepare for written test and interview mtech research iisc cds
Ideally if you have time -- Linear algebra (Gilbert strang), coding -(1D 2D array codes related to matrices), are the priority . After that comes probability (Tsiktsiklis lectures) and differential equations(random pdfs search online)...

I think in NITK.. More software developer roles come for placement than data science roles. So prepare accordingly. Doing MTech will give you more career options than doing online courses

if you are from CFTI (IIT,NIT,IIM,IISc,NITIE and some other institutes), I think you can get direct call with CGPA above 8 (or maybe 8.5 I am not sure). Just check the list of CFTI institutes and see if your institute comes under CFTI category

Yes . If you have completed mtech than apply for phd
Sir can PI students apply for CDS..
Because CDS allows metallurgy branch but not production branch
This is unfair with PI students
You can write two papers in GATE. So you can write XE also with PI for phd/Mtech research

In IISc May or may not be possible. For general category hard to say how it will be this year. Hope for the best

My age is 27 after 2 years from IISC BANGALORE my age will be 29 does it will affect my placement offers,I'm 2019 passout but both my father and brother have some mental disorder so I have to leave my studies for some time will it effect my placement..??
No, it wont affect. As long as you are working hard and learning skills, it wont matter. Age is more of an issue in MBA compared to MTech. In MTech age matters less.

@@yogeshchauhan8406 basic coding skills.. Linear algebra and probability also may be preferred. Differential equations also if you are from mechanical. See 12:55 in the video
Did mahesh use XE or ME score to get admission?
Hi any score could be used for MTech research admission but I used ME score as it was higher

@@roveenkumar8612 I don't think they differentiate within XE paper. However in interview you must meet their requirements in terms of background. For that visit IISc CDS website and see the different labs like CMG, FLAME, DREAM etc and see what work they do

I could land in MS in CDS with my gate score GEN category. But I am afraid of research work that too from IISc. Will they teach from basics or we have to read books.
They will teach from basics..we all are afraid of research. But remember you are taking mtech research because you are afraid. If you had not been afraid, you would have taken PhD :)
