    I'm not competent or knowledgeable enough to argue with any of your three key recommendations here - though maximum RAM and a high end Intel chip sound eminently sensible. As I begin to think about the possibility of video making and so editing I do, however, know that watching (and re-watching) your programmes and channel is a must and essential first step! Thanks.

    Good info, but if you use the proxies you can save a lot of money than buying 64GB of RAM etc... just my two cents. The proxies stay neat and connected to the original files and you can jump back and forth within PP to zoom in if you need. You can also use external hard drives - HHD with 7,200 RPM as your editing drives. I edit 4k footage off of these external hard drives and have not encountered issues.

    Great video. I wanna start saving for a new machine just for work and I’ve been very confused about what’s better. In my experience, I’ve been working on a 2021 M1 MacBook Pro with 16gb of ram and everything it’s just super smooth (owned by the company, not mine) and recently got some extra work and for it I use my personal windows laptop with i5 10300h and thx 1650, same 16gb of ram. I understand that this laptop is way below the Mac it you can feel it, I have to use proxies with this one, but come on it should just be slower, not annoying. It has crashed almost the same times the last 5 days than the Mac in more than a year. Playback freezes with the proxies after some time and have to restart the program. I really don’t know if I just should add more ram to this laptop, at least 32gb, and idk because the Mac with 16gb is a beast with multiple browser tabs open, premiere, audition and even after effects.
    Source footage is iPhone in 4K h265 and proxies are pro res 222 at 720p. A couple links to After Effects for relatively simple text animations because I like them better than premiere’s.

    Tip #5 ENCODE ALL FOOTAGE TO PRORES

  • @samuelmack5916
    @samuelmack5916 Рік тому +1

    I built an AMD 5950X (it was the hot sh*t a year and a half ago) and NVIDIA 1080Ti (from another machine) and the 1080Ti does the encoding and decoding very effectively. But a VERY LIMITED number of codecs - because of Premiere - mostly 8bit (4:2:0) and10bit codecs are limited, mostly H.265 4:2:0. The 11th-13th gen Intel Chip's Quick Sync will encode/decode 10bit 4:2:2 in Premiere, but I don't have it on my AMD.
    NVIDIA is a no-go with everything else, and Apple M1 supposedly does it ALL with hardware, and that's where PCs get SPANKED by Apple. I've been SERIOUSLY considering a base Mac Studio for Premiere, since it's now optimized for Apple silicon. But do I wanna drop TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS because Premiere is finicky ... hell no.

    This was the most helpful video when i was shopping for a new PC so I can commit to more video editing. albeit mostly 720-1080p, I want to be able to do more later on. I hope to actually be making money off of video editing one day and hopefully be doing it for a living. I currently use a 1080 on a Ryzen 1700X with 16GB RAM. So I finally bought and have a 3080 TI and an i7 12700K with 64GB of 4000mhz RAM. Had an issue getting the other parts so the other parts are just sitting here for now. A seller on NE voided my PSU order after I made an inquiry asking why it was still processing after 5 days, *I was angry*. But again, thank you for this video.

I've been in Premiere on a $5K laptop workstation and while it can churn out the renders in record time, the overall experience in Premiere is awful. I'm about to throw it out the window. 😂 Mostly Adobe's fault but what can you do. I'm going to pick up a M2 Mac Mini pretty soon here and report back on it's performance.
