I upgraded recently to the PF-500 with the Classic Series - SVT-410HLF cab. This summer I used the BA-115 at an outdoor wedding gig in a tent holding about 100-150 people. It did the trick nicely.
@AllfatherOdhin Small gigs, or ones that have a good pa that you can output to, I think. It's more than loud enough for jamming in my little studio, but I haven't used it outside of here. It's a 100 watt bassamp, so if the band is loud expect to be a little buried in the music.
I like Ampeg, I bought BA-108 for home or even outside practice, you can't belive that 8" speaker can produce such powerful tone... but it's still only 25 W. I thought that Fender is "my amp" but Ampeg "sound" is something special.
I had that same exact amp and I really regret selling it but this time last year I was really struggling for work and got got far behind on bills so I had to sell that along with my surfboard and it hurt my feelings pretty bad . but I just recently ordered the new version of the ampeg ba 110 and it sounds good for a 10 inch speaker but I bought it used and the speaker is kinda crackling like someone was turning it up to loud when they first got it . but I also ordered tha ampeg analog bass preamp pedal and dude that will be my main weapon in my arsenal . but I put in to get a refund on the ba 110 that I ordered and im going back to the older version like you got and the one I had . the low end on those parricular amps are a one of a kind tone and ai cant wait to get another one and put my ampeg peamp pwdal on . my Jackson bass is going to be unstoppable for sure . but you have a great tone going on and hold on to that amp because theres no better combo amps with that solid low end tone like the 1st version ba 115
I really regret selling my ba 115 but I was about to lose my house . I was able to pick up the ampeg ba 110 and I was suprised at how good it sounds for it being a 10 speaker. but I did order the ampeg analog bass preamp pedal and I highly reccomend that every bassplayer invest in one . you can even fing used ones at guitart center for 70 ro 80 bucks but its very much so well worth it makes my ba 110 sound like im playing through a 15 . its just an awesome pedal and its my hidden secret to my tone . but I wanna sell my ba 110 and upgrade to the ba 115 . My ba 110 is only 1 week old and im going to sell it for 150 and thats a damn good deal because the amp is still brandnew and I still have the receipt and paper work on the amp . and I also like rj ba 115 has want an effecrs loop and I want to go back to the 15 inch speaker because they sound great !
@PhilosOnMarshall Sure, if you go to the channel JosephHacklVideos, you can hear the completed version of the songs in this demo. Thanks for the kind words!
hell yeah im getting this amp this saturday! also ima disconnect the tweeter once i get it. my schecter extreme and the ampeg ba-115 = unstoppable lol. by the way nice jams!
@Troblivion Not really, but you can fiddle with the style knob and raise the volume and lower the master, to get a little breakup sound. But with this amp, better off putting a pedal in front of it.
Sorry, I never played with the BA-108, but I bet it's even punchier with an 8". It's probably just not very loud. Even the BA-115 is not very loud, but if you have a sound system to go out to, then it's no problem for you.
Thats a thumb up from me man! Love your solo stuff! And exactly as you, I was searching for a decent demo of this amp (well the 2x10 to be honest) and I'm really surprised on lack of good quality demos on it. Just one question bud. Is it loud enough to play a rehearsal with a band, or a small gig? I've heard that the BA-210 is actually really quiet, for the size. Also is that 15 inch speaker punchy enough for slap? Cheers man!
You can't get a sound like that with Flats unless its the Steve Harris signature set \m/ The bass is probably The American Standard model. All bass strings sound good in their own way except D'Addario. They sound like refined human fecal matter. Don't ever stop playing bro.
does this amp really sound strong as 200 watt? i got a a 60 watt amp and its not so good, its sound is blurry and some more stuff (not becuase its strenght) so what im asking is, this ampeg amp really worth my money? since im low on cash. does it sound versitle and good? i mean can you play different kind of things and it will provide the best sound? for slap AND finger style? thanks alot!
Is it loud enough for pub gigs where the guitarist uses a 100watt Marshall Valvestate.. and a drummer and vocals. .. does the amp have a ext. cab out on it?
@TheHansi15god Before buying this amp, I remember seeing a video with a Best Buy dude playing a shecter extreme 5 on it. Sounded nice. You must have received it by now. How do you like it?
I really can't remember the name of the brand. They are really simple foam panels that I probably paid too much for on eBay. I've seen similar stuff at the hardware store for much cheaper and kicked my own ass for it.
Well, I can't very well prove to you that the amp you are looking at in this video is the one you are hearing, so you'll just have to try one out and judge for yourself. Use a Fender MIM Precision Bass, plug it directly into the BA-115 and select Style 1. But as I am not a salesman for Ampeg, I just demo gear that I try, what would be the point?
do you know if the same amp will be as good if its an ampeg BA-108 ? Cuz thats about all the cash i got,was wondering if its worth it. Im trying to find that sludge sound like Eyehategod or Crowbar. Any suggestions man?
Cool tunes. Sounded a little like Santana meets Stevie Ray Vaughn.. then the last one sounds like the Beattles meshed with Foreigner. Hmmmm....me personally I'd prefer the tweeters with the 15 - maybe it's because I like to do a lot of solos and slap'n and want that clarity. By the way, is that you singing? The back up vocals don't sound half bad but the lead.....well, to be honest, the tunes would sound great with a real singer. Hope that was not offensive.
+Xylor GuitarGeek Telling someone who is trying to sing they suck is very hurtful and offensive imo. Half of singing is self confidence...you didn't help I'm afraid. At least he wasn't cheating (like most artist these days) using autotune! I think he has a very good tone in his voice just needs more time to develop his skills.
When you say 'it's a cool little amp' makes it sound like it doesn't have enough power for a drummer. Not like I'm in a band but maybe one eon I might.
Nice to see a demo by a talented person that knows how to use their equipment. Very informative thanks!
Good vid. Everything mixed just right.
Liked the Jamerson influence in your playing.
Cheers.
Precision basses sound great in the mix!
(not so much solo :/ )
Awesome video! Great playing, great review!
Everyone keeps repeating that but I always disagree

love the original tune man!
Glad you like it! Thanks!

Great demo, hearing the bass sound in the context of a band sound. Thanks.
My father got me this amp as a graduation present I am quite pleased with it it helps out when in practice sessions or small gigs
You did a Great job with that music Dude, I'll get the ampeg too, Greetings from Mx!
I own a BA-108. It is worth purchasing the amp. I like it a great deal. It's a very good practice amp. It's smooth as butter...it really is.
fantastic bro! the fender precision bass & the ampeg combo bass amp go's together nice!
Sadly they stopped making this amp. It's my favorite!
Nice playing and tone, cool studio too.
I like the "no tweeter" tone.

2:12 maaaaaannnn beatiful sound and music...
Well the tone does change a little when you disable it, so if you can tolerate the hiss and prefer the tone. Keep it enabled :) Enjoy the amp!
@PhilosOnMarshall Sure, if you go to the channel JosephHacklVideos, you can hear the completed version of the songs in this demo. Thanks for the kind words!
@JohnnyNeptunchi Thanks. No CD yet, but there are some tunes up on the JosephHacklVideos channel.
hell yeah im getting this amp this saturday! also ima disconnect the tweeter once i get it.
my schecter extreme and the ampeg ba-115 = unstoppable lol. by the way nice jams!
you could disconnect the tweeter and install a switch to turn on and off.
@Troblivion Not really, but you can fiddle with the style knob and raise the volume and lower the master, to get a little breakup sound. But with this amp, better off putting a pedal in front of it.
@FriendlyShadow1 Rounds. I don't know what brand of strings though, its the same ones the guy who sold it to me had on them.
This could suffice for small venues and for the larger ones, you can output from the amp to the sound system.
great review, you covered all! congrats++++
Very nice tone and playing
It is just possible to hear the last song you've played? I just love it.
that songs like a mix of hendrix and the song i never want to dance again lol
love this backing track ! nice room too !
That was an MIM Fender Precision Bass.
Sorry, I never played with the BA-108, but I bet it's even punchier with an 8". It's probably just not very loud. Even the BA-115 is not very loud, but if you have a sound system to go out to, then it's no problem for you.

Andy Costelic I don't have that amp anymore, but yes it worked well with slapping. Thanks for the comment!
I adjust the amp & guitar tone to cut the hiss a bit.
Thanks, that was helpful. I think I'll be getting this amp soon as it sounds nice, and it's cheap. I'll keep dreaming about an old Vox though... ;-)
Nice tone! I really love the crazy sound from this fuckin Ampeg!
Sounds great man. I'm probably going to buy the same amp. Is that your bands recording you're playing over?
nice work man
@MtlRed thanks :)
You using flats or rounds on that beast? Great tone. :)
Lovely thing
Wheres your CD?! Id love to hear more!
Yes, well thanks for informing me :)
@PhilosOnMarshall Thanks!
Sounds really nice, but are there any distortion settings on it?
I loved the songs, where can i listen they all? Did you make a album?
Your sound and the composition are fantastic! Thumbs up!
Which P-Bass is this exactly? Which strings do you use? Flatwounds?
You can't get a sound like that with Flats unless its the Steve Harris signature set \m/ The bass is probably The American Standard model. All bass strings sound good in their own way except D'Addario. They sound like refined human fecal matter. Don't ever stop playing bro.

Mine is still hissing after disabling tweeter. I have a ba115t

Is it normal for it to crackle at high volume? I just bought a used one and it kindve crackles at high volume.
It's been about 12 years since I owned one, but I don't remember it ever crackling. It sound like it might need some maintenance
It is possible to hear the two last song you've played? Or some informations

i dunno man... really miss the attack of that horn. i mean, it's built with one for a reason.
what kind of bass is that my friend it sounds ok !!!
do you know if the same amp will be as good if its an ampeg BA-108 ? Cuz thats about all the cash i got,was wondering if its worth it. Im trying to find that sludge sound like Eyehategod or Crowbar. Any suggestions man?
So the ssssssss or hisssss noise is normal? i have one and the ssssssss is loud.
Hi can you share with us you tone setup
Im about to get an ampeg ba108
I'm getting an ampeg BA112 combo amp
nice song
which one? i did the same thing a few weeks ago
Ext cab option?
is there treble?
Can u use it on gigs?
62 pounds (well... it is hard to find something lighter that is fitted with a 15 inch speaker).
When I bought this amp< it smelt good. Don't judge me.
How much does this bass amp weigh? If it weighs more than 50 pounds I don't want it.
is it a tube amp??
Cool tunes. Sounded a little like Santana meets Stevie Ray Vaughn.. then the last one sounds like the Beattles meshed with Foreigner. Xylor GuitarGeek Thanks for the feedback. I agree about the singing on these tracks. I've improved since, I think :)

+MtlRed You've got a nice voice...just keep recording and before long...bingo!
who wrote this song?
I wrote those tunes. If you're interested, there is more music here: josephhackl.bandcamp.com/
No, solidstate.
LOL!
sorry markbass
Who this fool think he's fooling coming through a PA system trying to pass that off as the amps real true sound.
When you say 'it's a cool little amp' makes it sound like it doesn't have enough power for a drummer. Not like I'm in a band but maybe one eon I might.
