Hardly anybody takes Climate Change seriously in this country, while its effects can be seen everywhere.
Being a poor country I don’t think india has a choice. Every time something happens we think no one takes this seriously. We simply don’t have resources to tackles earthquakes, famines and what not. Too much population and not much money.
For being so densely populated area climate change shall be most important issues for sustainable development, but so called progressive thinkers don't think abt environment at all, plus the mainstream media in last 10 years has never discussed changing of environment

If certain districts in Kerala are prone to landslide then why did The Kerala Government permit it's citizens to inhabit in those sensitive areas? Why didn't the Government check on them.. Flood and landslide isn't a foreign things in Kerala then why weren't there any precautions taken or given before monsoon... Kerala has hundred percent literacy in India but sorry to say that their education went in vain....

The entire state of Kerala is waiting silently. According to Kerala and Tamil Nadu government officials, the Mullaperiyar Dam is capable of withstanding until the year 2857 (now 2024) due to a 999-year agreement with Tamil Nadu. They are waiting to complete 999 years, after which they will rebuild the dam with another 99-year agreement because concrete cannot withstand more than 99 years. The expected Mullaperiyar Dam disaster could wipe out a significant number of people, potentially leading to increased disaster fund collections from others

Well Explained !! But experts' views and warning were intentionally neglected by politicians and businessmen for their calculated interests. I will sound negetive but now we have crossed tipping point and public by and large is ignorant or say not aware of what is coming!

Yes sir Western ghats in Kerala stops total dark cloud which forms from Arabic sea but Area in Kerala is less but level of rain is heavy bywhich red mutty cravel absorbed more rain water and become like mixer of liquid which automatically sloped down where basin level small small homes huts villas all washed away by 3 to 6 kilo meter deep slope the speed run of mutty water. Ok?

Now the concern is..
Illegal constructions without thinking of nature & environment causes the same !! Who told and/or grant the permission to build houses or colonies beside the river-bed ?? Can't people or government think of an environment ? It is not at all the nature fault, it is absolutely to be blamed on people who destroys the nature due to greediness and nature "Karma" gives back !!

Very very true IMD is correct.When we go against nature, it's rest assured that these kind of landslides will definitely happen.Deforesting, making roads by disturbing hills( recently it's done in Palakkad Trissur highway.Mother Nature will not get angry?These devastation will be repeated..Very sad.

Houses are emmersedin mud . Most of the houses and. People in mundakai village are under the mud . Mud and big boulders and watter has washed 3 villages .
#decommission #mullaperiyar dam. The Mullaperiyar dam, under the control of Tamil Nadu, presents a significant risk to six districts in Kerala as it has surpassed its intended lifespan of 50 years, being now 125 years old. Therefore, it is imperative to decommission the Mullaperiyar dam at the earliest opportunity.
Every day declared after june month more than five districts are orange alerts in kerala.This is not possible all residents are re locate .

Thekkady and Munnar not good during rainy seaaon. Other places though not dangerous, you cant enjoy much in rain. Oct/Nov is best to visit

It is heard that these tale areas have been reclaimed once upon a time( Around 1700000 years back) by "Parasuram", so lands of these areas are either due to cutting of Hills for requirement of huge soils for reclamation or covering the sea shores by Soils collected from cutting the Hills. However researches should be done.

Looking at your information I wonder everytime I have travelled to Kerala we used to appreciate that it is still the greenest and ecologically balanced state in India where people prefer simple living... May be it was a disaster waiting ro happen. If this has happened with Wayanad...then all other hilly states like HP UK western ghat and northeastern states should wake up immediately and review their blind development plans.
