  • The 19-year-old Japanese extended his country's winning ways, capturing Japan's third straight men's gymnastics all-around title and following up on UCHIMURA Kohei's back-to-back wins in London 2012 and Rio 2016.
    He totaled 88.465 across all six events to secure the gold. China's XIAO Ruoteng earned 88.065 for second. Pre-event favourite Nikita Nagornyy, the reigning world and European champion, won the bronze (88.031).
    He was spectacular in the opening rotations, sticking a triple twist dismount on the floor for a 14.833 and swinging cleanly through a series of flares on pommel horse to post 15.166. On the still rings, he scored 13.533. But then, he came up with a shaky landing on his vault, a Kasamatsu double twist, for a 14.700.
    He rebounded quickly in the fifth rotation on the parallel bars where his 15.300 moved him into medal contention. After clean routines from Xiao and Nagornyy, Hashimoto closed out the meet, knowing he needed 14.533 to win. He soared over the bar on two double flipping catch-and-release moves to open. Though he took a small step on the dismount, it was more than enough for gold.
    He was already draped in the Japanese flag when his 14.933 flashed on the scoreboard, but he erupted, clinching both fists toward the ceiling, after receiving confirmation of gold.

      For America's commentators. John Rothlisburger and I think it was Bridget Sloan (correct me if I'm wrong) did a great job as well for their first time this year. I'd prefer them over Tim Dagget. Nastia does an okay job too, but half the time she's just keeping Tim in check.

    • @asharadayne6159
      @asharadayne6159 2 роки тому +1

      Same. As soon as I saw that routine, I understood exactly why he won. And looking at the scoring breakdown, you can see that he had the best pommel and high bat scores for the day. He also had the second highest floor score, only coming in behind Milad Karimi, who finished 14th overall. I know that the medalists were all very close, but to me, it was clear that Hashimoto was the best all-around on that day.

    • @kommisar.
      @kommisar. 2 роки тому +1

      If you guys like that one check out Lee Chee-kai from Taiwan. He basically does an entire routine in flairs. Not sure if his SV is as high as Hashimoto's.

    • @asharadayne6159
      @asharadayne6159 2 роки тому +1

      @@kommisar., oh yeah, I love his routines! Based on the score breakdown from the all-around, it looks like Lee Chih-Kai fell at least once during the AA competition, but his silver medal-winning was awesome. Honestly, it should’ve been a gold because there should’ve been more differentiation between his E-score and Whitlock’s E-score. But he upgraded his routine from 6.4 to a 6.7 D for the pommel final. It looks like Hashimoto usually gets a 6.4 or 6.5 D score, so Lee’s medal-winning routine would’ve been harder.

    Thanks! It was a thrilling final for me, tbh the three medals could have gone either way between Nagornyy, XRT, Hashimoto and Sun Wei, so it was really a matter of who turned in the best overall performance that night. I'm so proud of all gymnasts and look at Tang Chia Hung's routines! Utter perfection, I'm looking forward to seeing more of him. It's strange not seeing Uchimura and I miss his gymnastics but I'm glad that he's made an impact on MAG and he'll remain as one of the greatest gymnasts of all time.

      There are dozens of names, short & haphazardly Googled biographies, etc. and the announcers are mostly reading from notes, they simply read what's written down as information. The same male commentator here, for example, also said Sunisa Lee (the women's AA Gold)'s parents were from Vietnam (due to the Vietnam War). But that's not true. They're from Laos (& yes, it's also due to the Vietnam War). Suni Lee, of course, was born in St. Paul, MN., USA.

And still, the biggest score of the whole quad was Nikita’s at 2019 Worlds, no one could match it, not even himself. Not even combining all of Hashimoto and Xiao’s best scores in each apparatus. • @SarahZi1998
      @SarahZi1998 2 роки тому +3

      Hey not all gymnasts of the team events participated in the individuals because not everyone qualified. From 2019 to 2020 50 individual gymnasts were able to qualify for the Olympics. During Qualifications four Team USA gymnasts ranked within the qualifying ranks, with the 2-per-country rule applied the two best in qualifying Brody Malone (11th) and Sam Mikulak (14th) made it to the finals. Now why did they not show all apparatuses? It’s simple, they can’t show everything so they normally focus on the Top qualifiers which this time were Daiki Hashimoto, Nikita Nagornyy, Xiao Ruoteng, Sun Wei, Joe Fraser and Artur Dalaloyan

    some many salty Chinese fans here lol. I mean at least study the code of points before you leave a comment, only commenting "underscored" or "overscored" does not help Xiao. Hashimoto did really well here, performed beautiful routines, did not make any major mistakes, followed the rules, maintained a good manner. That's true, hard work beats talents though he has both lol

      This man Nikita Nagornyy is the reigning All-Around European and World Champion and he was the key player to his team winning gold at these Olympics just a few days before this so everyone expected him to win gold which he probably could’ve done if he was in top form. He felt ashamed and embarrassed that he couldn’t show his full potential at such a important event. Nagornyy will be back to full health in time for the world championships in two months so we will see if Hashimoto Daiki can also beat a healthy Nikita Nagornyy, trust me it won’t be easy
