    Met Lacy at the American Legion in Mayo Md. in late 80s, he was traveling around with the Dixie Road Ducks, my sons and i were sitting at a table with him just shootin the breeze about Ronnie, music, and fishin. one of the nicest men i ever met. Signed a New York Yanks cap for one of my boys. good man. RIP Lacy

    This was in1983. Not 1982. I was standing close enough to touch Mr. Van Zant when this interview was being done. Met him later that night. True southern gentleman and very kind person.

      When I met in in 89 in Florida I was 13 years old. He knew my grandpa VERY well. I asked him to sing Alabama since we're from muscle shoals Alabama and lacy sang it

    I met and talked to Lacey in Chattanooga when they hauled the 1955 Chevrolet pickup around for 30 minutes and got a picture with him what a cool old dude remind me of my dad and looks like his twin.. my father did Refrigeration for 40 years wasn't true American Blue Collar success story and he always used the four letter word for success...W.O.R.K.. .. I miss my father more then I would ever have known...

      Mr Lacy was a staple around the neighborhood. I lived a short distance from the Van Zants and you could see Mr Lacy hanging around all the 'man spots' like Buddy Baker's automotive shop. He just loved people and conversation. He was also a very generous person. Once, my car konked out in the Pic 'N Save parking lot. I'm just standing there hoping that by staring at it that it would start. Up drives Mr Lacy. He senses the situation " " Got car trouble little lady "? He took over and within minutes had my car running again. He wouldn't hear of taking any money for his efforts. He was a kind man always full of energy and love and adoration of his family. So all the lies that Arte Pyle has said about Mr Lacy are personally offensive to me. I'd love to see Johnny smear his face on the concrete.

    I was born and raised in Orlando. Too young at the time to go to The Point After, but I remember the commercials on rock radio.

      Better then father of Southern Rock, considering Rock and Roll started in the South as Greg Allman always said saying Southern Rock is like saying Rock Rock so there's Rock and Roll and Northern Rock

      I live in Jax and know all about that. You couldn't help but know if you lived here.The things he said about Mr Lacy are unforgivable, and the nutless wonder would have never said those things while Ronnie was alive, hell he would have never said them while Lacy was alive. That's what you call a 1st class coward.

      Honestly yall ever thought he got Traumatic Brain Injury and he has hallicunations. Airplane crashes are bad and back then medical equipment was not like it is today as far as brain trauma diagnosis. He may actually believe what he is saying as a fact and alternatively it's just missing clips in his video memory. See this type of thing in vets who get brain Injuries, I couldnt remember being hit once. Until later when a soldier said to me remember that blast that hit your truck. Our brains are like hard drives, sometimes info is lost and OR replaced. Not defending Artimus but think maybe this dude has something to that degree. One of the last Good ol Boys, of Skynyrd and prob doesn't realize he is even like that. Sad

      @corykassabian8839 5 років тому +5

      Artimus knew Ronnie personally I think he might know a thing or two. He For sure knows more about him than any one of you do. I heard him say how rvz told him the reason why he is bringing his dad Lacey to Japan. I can believe that. Then you listen to the song was I right or wrong and can imagine his dad probably did treat Ronnie like shit before he made it call him a idiot loser probably get drunk and violent himself whatever. I heard Judy say in a video that Ronnie was mean cause he grew up under Lacey’s roof. So there ya go. I think they are all assholes and I’m not picking sides with any of them. I just like the music. Rvz was lynyrd Skynyrd and when he died that’s it the shows over quit your bitching

      @@carlsmith1263 I couldn't agree with you more. So many times abusers are the nicest guys in public and totally different when they get where people can't see what they do. Arte would know much more about the band's family members than we would.
      Skynyrd did die the night of the crash. I lived in Jax then, and remember the shock the whole city was in after that night. Leon Wilkeson even called the band "a tribute band" after they got the band going again. It's my belief that none of the band members would have had the good life they did without riding Ronnie's coattails the way they did, and Judy VanZant only allowed the band to go on for the money. Teresa Gaines did the same thing. Because of the lawsuit, the band shouldn't have gone on as long as it did. Judy's greed made all that happen. I never went to another show after the crash. It was just never the same. Well wishes to you.
