Funny true story Marvel suggested using Fin Fang Foom as Iron Man 3's villain to Marvel Studios before using The Mandarin/Extremis virus as main villain, but Marvel Studios later turned down this idea because the villain's name was too fucking stupid to market to general audience and non-comic book readers. Hence he just appeared as easter egg in Iron Man 3.
Wow that sucks, so they just fuck up the mandarin instead and thought that was completely okay rather than seeing Iron Man battle a massive Dragon-alien monster? Way to go Marvel Studios Iron Man 3 is by far your biggest bust/flaw yet
Daiman-Tv (It's Pronounced like Matt "Damon") IMO, Iron Man 3 was better than Iron Man 2. The Mandarin was at least, half interesting than Whiplash. What they did Ben Kingsley with The Mandarin was brilliant.
+MyLostTemple Hrmph. There I was, waiting for him to crop up alongside the Mandarin. If the name was the problem, why didn't they just rework it into something less campy looking, like F'n-Fahn-Fu'rumm or something? As far at what we got goes, I agree that the Ben Kingsley fakeout was a cool idea. But if they were going to do that, then they should really have had a better 'real villain'; something more interesting or threatening than a knockoff of Pixar's Syndrome.
+Copperbeard the character we got in Iron Man 3 WAS an stereotype (in terms of superhero movie). there is no such thing as being "outdated" in the comic universe. Just because the name vaguely sound like a chinese name does not make it offensive by default.
Sigh. Way back in the day I owned a copy of Strange Tales #89. It was one of those great Marvel Monster stories that always stuck with me. (That and the similar first appearance of Groot who also started off as a similar Marvel Monster.) One bit of info Watch Mojo missed. Fin Fang Fooms spaceship is also the origin of the comic Mandarin's 10 Power Rings.
I think in the next Iron Man movie, they should reference Fin Fang Foom. The Hulk accidentally awakes the dragon, and Iron Man has to team up with the Hulk to stop Fin Fang Foom. It could happen lol
+Drayton Henderson Just drives the point home that WatchMojo is staffed by complete idiots who can't bother to check their information. You know, like that was ever in question in the first place.
+PastLifeVillian He was definitely rude about it, but it is a problem that they're terrible at fact checking. If you're spreading information to large groups of people you should really make sure to make sure it's correct.
Fun Fact: Groot also began as a science fiction monster. It was not until less than a decade ago that he joined the Guardians of the Galaxy and began to act like a hero.
Supervillain Origins: Gorilla Grodd from DC and or Superhero Origins: Black Bolt from Marvel. I don't know if you read the comments or not but if you do please do these guys! Please and Thank you Watchmojo!
The post-credit scene in Shang-Chi Legend of the Ten Rings pretty clearly set up the Makluans to be in the sequel, it would be terrible business sense to go backsies on that. I could think of like 8 good reasons why Fin Fang Foom should have been in the first Shang-Chi and even more so now in the sequel. 1. Not least of which is how closely tied he is to Mandarin's origin story, he's where Mandarin got the titular Ten Rings (AKA the source of his powers) from. Plus there's that Easter Egg of him in Iron Man 1 they're probably going to want to capitalize upon. 2. I heard that MCU is trying to put more focus on cosmic stuff, which means they're probably going to want to start more firmly establishing their alien races, including the dragon-like Makluans, especially given that the kaiju genre seems to be making something of a resurgence in Hollywood the last decade (I can name like a dozen Kaiju films that have come out to theaters in that time, and at least another dozen if you count non-theatrical releases and are a bit more flexible on the criteria to qualify as a Kaiju film, which I can also list). Disney isn't going to want to miss out on that if they think it'll be profitable, especially given how much source material Marvel has to adapt on that front. 3. Speaking of that front, Devil Dinosaur recently got an animated series. They're probably going to want to bring in Kaiju Kid at some point, but they couldn't until after they establish Fin Fang Foom given that he's one of Marvel's most notable Kaiju. Disney likes to introduce big name characters in the films before using them in the TV shows. When better to establish him? 4. Disney also loves merchandising. A character like Fin Fang Foom would be easy fodder to market, what kid wouldn't want an action figure of a Giant Alien talking Dragon (that can shapeshift)? Would also a Kaiju-themed attraction would be perfect for Disney World. Plus they're starting to realize villains need a bit more depth, Fin Fang Foom has a decent amount of nuance as an antagonist. He's not evil, he's just an elitist who prefers the chaos of war to the banality of peace- regardless of what purpose that fighting spirit serves. He can be reasoned with and even form temporary alliances, just don't think you're in charge. Mandarin made that mistake. 5. While Fin Fang Foom originated from just an anthology and mostly fought Iron Man when he returned, Iron Man isn't the only hero he's traded blows with. It's worth noting he has some history with Dr. Strange too, significant enough that there was a secret dialogue between them in the Marvel Ultimate Alliance video game. Will they go somewhere with that? Who knows? 6. He also has a connection with Thor... sort of. More specifically, there was a Thor comic where Jormungandr, the Midgard Serpent, disguised itself as Fin Fang Foom with its illusion magic. Jormungandr is a big part of Thor lore that the films have yet to touch upon. If they end up using Jormungandr in Thor 5 or its potential sequel, the opportunity to reference that comic would be too good to pass up. Pretty sure they've actually interacted at some point in the comics too, not just the illusionary disguise that wasn't actually him. 7. I remember hearing something about the director of Shang-Chi wanting to make the series an homage to classic Martial Arts films, not just a film with Martial Arts in it, something like in the vein of Bruce Lee's Enter the Dragon. It would be a colossal missed opportunity to not use the actual dragon with direct connection to the titular 10 rings when you're homaging a film with Dragon in its name. 8. While his introduction film was a flop, there's significant rumors that Black Knight is going to have a significant role the MCU soon. I wouldn't put it past Disney to dip into the old "knight vs dragon" trope, would you? I don't recall them having any interaction in the comics, but the MCU isn't trying to be a direct adaption of the comics anyway, Whether Black Knight would actually be a fitting opponent for Fin Fang Foom kind of depends on which parts of Black Knight's lore they're using, but that's for later down the line.
Well in the comics it happen once, "Imposible Man" a character most known in the Fantastic Four comics,he "merged" The Red Hulk and The Original Hulk (Bruce Banner) into one being that it was referred as "Compound Hulk" at the end of the issue they returned to their normal estate. Hope it helps.

There’s nothing campy about the name Fin fang Foom, I personally think it’s fitting for such a character, although, I always thought he should be equally as powerful, if not more so, than Dr Doom and/or Ultron. He’s a foreboding character and he should stand out as such, along with his powers. I hope The legend of Shang Chi does this character justice. If not make him more than he was in comics. The opposite of what the MCU did for Hulk, as opposed to how powerful Hulk actually is in the comics.
Is it possible that the Anime Deathnote and their shinigami drew inspiration from fing? Both were otherworldly creatures that came to the human world for simple entertainment. Also the resting period reminded me of lord cthulhu who lies dreaming?
This guy is more suitable to be a Dr. Strange or a Thor villain than an Iron Man one.
In one of the Thor comics, the Midgard Serpent disguised himself as Fin Fang Foom. After revealing himself, he and Thor had a fight to the death. Thor won the fight, but died too. Of course, they found a way to bring Thor back to life.

Either that or a giant dragon dick flying around
