Banana Shoot 4 Hour Time Lapse

I chop a banana stalk for this time lapse video of the banana shoot for 4 hours and it shows remarkably fast growth on cool spring day. A banana tree grows very fast. It is actually called a banana plant and the shoots and leaves grow fast on it as well.
Recorded in Charleston, South Carolina at Simply Bananas with iphone 6s .

Fun fact! Bamboo shoots grow at similar rates but with a razor sharp tip. In the Second World War, the Japanese would tie POW to sprouting bamboo stakes and let the spike grow through their stomachs as torture.

Hi, just found your channel.
Nice videos.
I have a question unrelated to this video other than its about Bananas.
I have some Dwarf Cavendish plants and one of them pupped a strange corm off to the side and it seems rather different than the others, that it is very small.
It should be mature now and is only as tall as an onion.
I will be trying to get it to fruit this year, so we will see how that goes.
Anyway, my question is, is that how a mutation presents itself?
Thats my guess, but what is your seasoned input?
We cut our Bananas back today and watched as it did in the video happen over the course of the day

Hi and welcome! Where are you growing these DC? It very easily could be a water sucker that dont really grow very vigorous. Ideally you want sword suckers which are like spikes coming out of the ground.

@@taslimaahammed1271 This is a banana plant that was damaged by the cold. This is a new banana leaf emerging from the plant. I have many similar videos on my channel showing this process.
