Do you know if there's a way to vary the duty cycle externally by a control voltage?

Hi Jason, cool circuit/video this! Didn't know it could be that simple since I am trying for half a year to get something like this with a 555 timer which still did not succeed. Like your educational vids man!

Can you make a detailed video on how you can,
adjusting frequency without changing the duty cycle in astable mode with ne555

Hi shats the lowest voltage the astable will run at?.....i will be using coils in place of the leds, so will not need to light those....cheers

Is it possible to change the duty cycle with a reference voltage without an integrated circuit or micro-controller?

If the two LEDs are replaced by two 3v DC motors, will the motors spin alternately? Thanks.

There is a way of calculating the frequency of an astable circuit using a chart called a nomograph and cannot find any explanation of how to do this and would love to see a video with a step by step explanation of how to use this chart.

Hello Skinny R&D, Could you please refresh my memory where the 0.69 in the formula for t1=0.69C1R1 comes from? Could it be from PI?

Just asking for a friend... If I where to drive a circuit (MOSFET) for an induction heater (ca. 500 W - 2k W) which would you use: (1) a 555 IC (astable), (2) or this type of multivibrator? Merci de votre réponse. (NB. The IH circuit will have variable duty and frequency to accommodate changing the work coil and its LC tank: range 30-80 %/20-100 kHz). My newbie amateur elctr. friend has been working on this proj. for the past 6 monts thinking only in 555 or ZVS terms and just realized what is a BJT 'multi vibration circuit). Moreover, He as seen several circuits using BJT's in conjunction with 555 IC's to drive the IH's MOSFETS. Ho! by the way ... nice work for it all.

    Hi Jason,
Just wondering if you’ve checked out the data sheets for the TLC555 and the HA17555. They are supposedly more accurate than a standard NE555.

I have not, however most of my applications don't require high precision. I'll grab just about anything that has the "555" label on it. Thanks for the heads up though. I'll check it out. Might make for an interesting lab demonstration.

    Hi
I built up this oscillator and it works fine but this formula doesn't hold and R1 and R4 should be also included in the formula because changing their value changes the oscillator output frequency

You are missing the capacitor polarization

    • @Skinnyrd

Not in this case. I used capacitors that were not eletrolytic. They are not polarity sensitive.
