    I am watching her at the whole time, not even paying attention to what the install, LOL keep up video.

    Okay, at having just installed this yesterday, these two videos not only need to be updated, but done a bit better. There are paper instructions included, but even those leave a lot to be desired. All it would take is a day to sit down, take a few extra pics and be a little more succint with the install. Having said that, if you can proficiently break your sks down completely, own a dremel tool and three or four different allen wrenches, you should be able to do this installation. If this comment section were longer, I'd nitpick the video to death but suffice it to say, the video should be done again. The product? It looks impressive and overall, I'm satisfied with it, short of a range visit.

    I gotta tell you .... This is an EXCELLENT bull pup conversion for the SKS. I did a Paratrooper model with a few mods to the gun and it ROCKS. It looks like a Tavor but shoots the venerable 7.62x39. Also, parts are (were?) a lot cheaper.

    @Dmajorproductions You can remove the FSB by tapping out the 2 pins holding it in place on the barrel. Then, you heat the front sight area, then the bayonet lug. You tap the bayonet lug toward the end of the muzzle, removing it. Usually, this is hard as hell because the FSB is happy where it is and doesn't want to come off. You can angle the rifle muzzle down, buttstock up, then place a block of wood on top of the BL, then hit with mallet, taking care not to strike the barrel. Good luck.

    Don't remove the negative comments, anyone who looks at what you guys have put together can clearly see that the wait was worth it. Nice job, look forward to getting mine... waiting a year was painful, but appears to be worth it.

    At first, this young lady states there is "no cutting drilling or filing" to put the stock on, but a short time later, that's exactly what will be needed, according to her instructions, using both a hand file and a dremel tool.As intricate as this thing is, I have to wonder about functionality. Simple it is not. That usually means more possible problems in functioning. That aside, this has got to be a real pain when it come time to clean this weapon, if you have to go through all this each time.

  • @BikerTrashWolf
    @BikerTrashWolf 12 років тому

    no cutting to the gun. The stock may require modification. I put a monte Carlo stock on a Mosin Nagant that needed quite a bit of modification to the reciever area of the stock to allow the gun to be loaded.

    I bought mine a few days ago. Don't care if it takes a few months. I bought a Hammer/Sear/Trigger kit from Murray's Guns to be compliant. I tried to find an American made fixed 10 round mag but I couldn't find one made of metal. The kit from Murrays was $85. Counts as three pieces. Removing the handguard and FSB took me under compliance. I live in CA so its rough, but removable mags for the SKS are a crapshoot anyway.

    @mpeugeot I agree don't remove comments posted. tbt10f's comment was just an internet cop statement about how the rifle wasn't safety checked right off the bat so the internet could see that it was unloaded. At 1:45 the rifle is proven to be unloaded when the magazine is removed and is obviously empty. I don't see what the big deal is since I would check my weapon to ensure it was unloaded before I started filming a video (unless of course it was a shooting vid). Safety check doesn't hurt though

  • @lowjee

    also, once you remove the sight, the leaf spring will fall out.....i would remove that so it doesnt come loose and rattle around inside your kit.

  • @TactiColt
    @TactiColt 11 років тому

    What are the recommended in/lbs. for the various screws? It looks like it would be easy to over-tighten and dislocate the brass bushings, but at the same time you don't want this thing rattling loose.

    I cant wait for mine to get in, but can some one give me some advice on removing my front sight? I looked around and from what I've read, there is a tool specifically for removing it. Is this the right way to go or is there a way to do it with a tool I probably already have?

    SKS and the AK platform arnt the Holy grail, but he does kinda have a point. Aftermarket parts normally do not agree with the SKS, tho this one LOOKS really good.
    The SKS and AK platforms have been tested time and time again. If you were to put the most Badass AR and a throwdown Ak in front of me and tell me to pick one to protect myself with, i will ALWAYS pick the AK.
    Also, sad to see a Russian SKS dismatled. We have so few of them in the US as it is.

    @toasty4000000 To remove the entire front sight/bayonet lug assembly on anything other than a yugo- you simply need a punch and a hammer. tap out the 2 pins...one on top and one in the rear of the sight "slide" and a little heat and a few whacks and voila...she will come right off. if you have a yugo and want to remove the grenade launcher..you need a tool...best way to do that one.

    So I bought an older Yugo SKS from a guy at work for $250..Saw this Bull Pup Kit and bought it off a seller on Ebay, $325(NIB)... Probably gonna take my SKS to a gunsmith to have the grenade launcher and front site assy. removed..(I don't have access to a machine shop right now) maybe $100? I just wonder after all this if I could sell it for a decent profit.. Any one know what one of these completed guns go for?

    honestly, i wonder how many times the rear sight was taken out before this video was shot? was it filed or something to just come right out like that? the video almost feels disingenuous. i spent over an hour trying to get my rear sight removed. i watched several other videos about it also. it doesn't just pop right out like that ever. bear in mind i have worked on many firearms in the past 30 years, so i'm not exactly a noob at this. i do like the stock very much though. for it's small platform application it is better than ati and tapco. the archangel is also good but very heavy.

      i had a lot of trouble too but realized i wasn't doing it exactly like she did it ( forcing the leaf site back don after the screwdriver is in, then twist the screwdriver), when i payed more attention it came out easy.

    @01HondaS2kXD 11 років тому

    i'm assuming you've already figured it out, but i'll answer this question for everybody else.
    to remove the front sight assembly from the barrel, you'll need:
    several blocks of wood, a hammer, a rubber mallet, a blowtorch, some wd40, a punch set, another punch set, scuba gear, two heavy duty trucks, some chains, heavy duty clamps, several nobel prize winners-- in the areas of physics, chemistry, and medicine, a priest, a rabbi, and a buddhist monk.

      If you have a Yugo SKS like I just bought, apparently the dis-assembly process for removing the grenade launcher and front sight is a chore..after watching Savage1r's vid.. I'm just taking my gun to a gunsmith to have it stripped down..Prolly should have did more research before buying this conversion kit..

      The SKS has to be on safe before you take the trigger mechanism out also you don't need to bang on it just press the button and it pops off

    @chezypuuf The origin of the gun has nothing to do with it. I don't like the former USSR (Or present Russia for that matter) but that has nothing to do with that gun. The ak47 is one of the best rifles in the world. My brother owns one and it's amazing. I own the SKS; It's amazing as-well. It's "Cheap" Because they mass-produced the hell out of it. Like the ak47. Its an amazing gun. It may not be a AR-15 but it has its advantages over 1000$ Guns. So stop trolling.

    Horrible product. I just installed and promptly uninstalled my friends Russian SKS from one of these stocks. Some of the worst "engineering" Ive ever seen in a firearm product. Dozens of places to fail. You need every tool/allen wrench in the shop to install. And just flimsy all around. Especially for something made to house a .30. I wouldnt shoot one of these if you gave it to me.
