Helpful video, thank you. If I may add some more tips..... 1. Onions like a lot of nitrogen in the early stages to increase leaves, which increases the number of layers on the bulb, meaning bigger onions. 2. Cheap or free supplements can be had from a local grain elevator if you have those in your area. I took a 1 gallon zipper bag with me. They laughed and gave me a 5 gallon bucket of nitrogen for free + the bucket. It is 40% nitrogen , so be careful. I used 1/3 to 1/2 a cup in 5 gallons of water along with store bought slow release plant food. But stop the nitrogen once the bulbs start to form. Sorry for the long reply but I hope it helps. As always, test on a couple plants and check in 24-48 hours.
I will be planting my onions in my raised bed in a couple of weeks. Yes, the flavor is incredible. I had a great onion year and hope this coming year will be even better. Thanks Jerra!
Great video as usual. Trying onions (and garlic) for the 1st time this year. Planted them about 2 weeks ago. I didnt know about the nitrogen fertilizer part. I'll be addressing that tomorrow! Thank you
