Sami yusuf in the video reefers and affirms music is embedded Islamic heritage. at the get go, this very statement is absolute contradicting to Islam. unfortunately, the brother goes on to say scholars in which prohibit music are being big headed - i'm paraphrasing here. Why he might say this? Perhaps, he doesn't know about the several Quranic verses and hadith which clearly prohibit the listening of music and perhaps you reading this and also might not know. Whether this the right answer or not, you are not accountable for another persons sin until you full their path and agree with them. I want to en-light the reader with a hadith from the message of Allah (Peace be upon him) which clearly prohibits music without abbreviation and a warning to our ummah. Sayyiduna Abu Malik al-Ash’ari (Allah be pleased with him) reports that he heard the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) say: “There will appear people in my Ummah, who will hold adultery, silk, alcohol and musical instruments to be lawful.” (Sahih al-Bukhari) There is a lot of misconception on music's prohibitions among the mulims. As a result, i will post a link here which details music's prohibition in Islam by a mufti. i highly recommend reading this and also sharing it to other people who might not know.
