What I loved about “Paid in full” was just like “Goodfellas” it romanticizes the gangster life THEN shows you the horror of it. Mitch and Rico don’t have an exit strategy because they chose this life and they’re fine with it. Not condoning their choices but understanding them.
All that money they were making, just to NOT have an exit strategy. Mitch could've moved to anywhere in the country with his little brother. Now they're both dead

Wood Harris' acting is better than I thought. After he got shot, his acting shifted into even more like the real Azie Faison. It was slightly different in the beginning. His voice, mannerisms is almost straight from one of the man's interviews

That’s good writing and character comparison to expand the storyline. As the viewer we see the surface of friends getting money, running the streets and winning at it but in actuality Rico wasn’t WRONG with his approach. They were the top dogs and fed a lot of people and reputation is EVERYTHING so if they took the Ace route and let the situation slide it creates more problems and gives courage to other robbers, thieves, and crews to take their spot. Yes, the idea is ignorance but if we are talking about how the streets move he did the right thing. He set the example for what happens if you move against the crew. Ace went wrong thinking he could change what already is, violence is NEVER far away and with so many wins without losses Ace got comfortable and got touched. Also it shows that Ace lacked leadership, by letting Rico see him so defeated and hurt he allowed the idea to grow that he was in the way rather than being seen as the boss any longer. Yes, it sucked Ace got caught slipping but the business still needed to be handled and Mitch was always enabling Ace giving him passes on a lot of things in the movie he knew needed to be handled in a more aggressive way and didn’t speak up. Mitch agreed with Rico but delivered it differently giving Ace another pass. Ace was the good kid who wasn’t outside vs Rico & Mitch who grew up in this life so his understanding is NOT the same which is why Rico was so angry when Ace interfered when he checked Calvin at the party! Rico was a snake but he was right again! You don’t get to talk to the boss any way you like, you don’t get to demand anything, and you don’t let a threat just walk away since it can come back later and it did come back for Ace getting shot.
